Chapter 102
Victoria was packing her things to leave the hospital when Nora and Bobby blocked her way at the door.
Seeing the hostile expressions on their faces, Victoria frowned slightly, gave them a cold glance, and walked straight past them.
Bobby immediately chased after her, grabbing her by the sleeve.
Victoria stopped, shook him off in annoyance, and snapped, "Haven't you done enough to ruin my life? Get lost and don't ever bother me again."
Bobby, tears streaming down his face, wailed, "Victoria, I know I was wrong. I was out of my mind, I was stupid. Please, give me another chance."
Victoria felt a wave of nausea at his pitiful act.
She sneered, "Do you think I would believe you again? Do you take me for a fool?"
Bobby, face contorted with grief, cried even harder, "Victoria, please, just one more chance. I really know I was wrong!"
Nora joined in, crying, "Victoria, I know you think I favor Bobby, but your dad is in prison, and you've dropped out of school. Do you really want to ruin Bobby's future too?"
Victoria gave them both a cold look, her tone light and dismissive, "So, you want to force me to sacrifice myself for him again?"
Nora was at a loss for words.
Bobby quickly chimed in, "Victoria, you don't have much of a future anyway, but I do. I have a college interview coming up. Can you really bear to ruin my future now?"
He looked so desperate and pleading that anyone would feel a pang of sympathy.
Victoria smiled, seemingly in reflection, "You're right, I don't have much of a future. However, I'm definitely not going to take the blame for someone who framed me. Sorry, I'm not that noble. I can't be a hero who sacrifices herself to save others."
With that, she walked away without a second glance.
Nora suddenly lunged at her, grabbing her arm and screaming hysterically, "Victoria, if Bobby's ruined, I won't live either!"
Victoria frowned, pried her hand off forcefully, and said impatiently, "Let go of me!"
Nora refused to let go, continuing her tantrum, "You have to help Bobby! I know you hate us, but we're still your family. Are you really that heartless to let us die?"
"Family?" Victoria laughed as if she had heard a joke, "Bobby spread rumors online that I sold my body for job opportunities, stole my work to enter a competition, and then accused me of stealing his painting. It wasn't just for Alice's money, right?"
Victoria turned to Bobby with a mocking look, "Do you think that by destroying me, I'll be your puppet, painting for you?"
Bobby's face changed colors, and he stammered, "I didn't, Victoria, you misunderstood."
Victoria gave Bobby a cold look, turned, and walked quickly away. She had just taken two steps when Nora suddenly ran to the window, turning to shout at Victoria, "Victoria, if you dare to leave, I'll jump!"
Victoria froze, standing still, unable to move. She slowly turned her head, looking at Nora with a complex expression.
Victoria was stunned for a moment, then rushed over to pull her down, "Are you crazy?"
Nora took the opportunity to slap Victoria across the face, "Crazy? Bobby is my life. If you harm him, you harm me! I'm telling you, if you don't help Bobby through this crisis today, I'll jump right now!"
Blood instantly seeped from the corner of Victoria's mouth. She touched her mouth and laughed mockingly.
She had long been accustomed to Nora's unfair treatment and had long been completely disheartened, but she hadn't expected that besides kneeling to her, Nora would also threaten her life for Bobby.
Bobby, trembling in a corner, saw that Victoria wasn't moving and mustered the courage to shout at her, "Victoria, did you hear that? If you don't help me, you'll be the one who killed your own mother!"
Victoria sneered, looking at Bobby with disdain.
Bobby, feeling a chill under her gaze, continued to threaten her, "Are you going to help or not?"
Victoria looked at Nora and Bobby and suddenly laughed.
Shaking her head, she murmured, "I've never expected you to care about me or love me. I thought you at least had some conscience. But I overestimated you."
Nora and Bobby exchanged a silent glance.
Victoria continued, "For money and your own interests, you've repeatedly harmed and threatened me. I've forgiven you time and again for the sake of family, even willing to give unconditionally. I always thought you felt some guilt, even just a little. But now, you're even using your life to threaten me."
Her eyes lowered, and her eyes slightly reddened, "You really disappoint me. I wonder if I'm really your family. In that case, I'll go all out. Let's die together!"
With that, Victoria suddenly raised her eyes, revealing a look of determination. She took a deep breath and stepped onto the windowsill.
Nora's eyes turned red, and she screamed, "Victoria, do you have to be so heartless? I gave birth to you and raised you. Don't you have any mother-daughter feelings?"
"Yeah, Victoria, how can you be so cold-hearted?" Bobby echoed.
Victoria gritted her teeth, "Mother-daughter feelings? Do you remember we're mother and daughter? In your eyes, there's only money! I've had enough! I said last time, I won't be threatened by you anymore!"
Victoria cried out with all her might, as if releasing all the grievances she had endured over the years. She didn't want to compromise anymore. She wasn't a puppet; she was a person!
As she shouted in fury, she almost lost her balance and nearly fell, but she grabbed the railing just in time to steady herself.
William had just entered the hospital when he saw this scene: Victoria standing on the windowsill, seemingly about to fall at any moment.
His pupils contracted, and his heart tightened. He finally understood what it felt like to be in utter chaos.
A great panic seized his breath. William could barely control his steps as he sprinted up the stairs, rushing to the fifth floor and reaching the windowsill.
At this moment, Victoria's legs were dangling, trembling violently.
Seeing this, William's chest filled with rage, but he didn't dare to shout, fearing he would scare her.
He could only suppress his anger with all his might, speaking softly to comfort her, "Victoria, listen to me. Whatever it is, come down first."
Seeing him suddenly appear, Victoria began to cry.
