Chapter 112
Victoria followed him, sneaking glances at the decor around her.
The restaurant wasn't extravagantly luxurious, but it had a unique charm. The rustic elegance made it feel particularly cozy.
She couldn't help but think to herself that the designer of this place must have great taste.
Victoria sat down.
William didn't stand on ceremony either, pulling out a chair and sitting next to her.
The waiter quickly brought out the dishes, which looked and smelled amazing, making her mouth water.
Victoria looked at the exquisite dishes on the table and swallowed hard.
"Go ahead and eat."
Victoria nodded, picking up her utensils to start, but she paused mid-air, looking at William in confusion. "Aren't you eating?"
He glanced at her. "I've already eaten. Don't worry about me."
Victoria pouted and started eating. Her stomach was growling with hunger.
William watched her devour the food and couldn't help but chuckle. He picked up his wine glass and took a sip.
His gaze drifted to the window, and he suddenly noticed a familiar figure downstairs. His eyes locked onto the person through the crowd.
The person seemed to notice his gaze and smiled at him.
William nodded and smiled back, raising his wine glass in a greeting.
The person said something to their companion and then entered the restaurant.
Victoria, focused on her food, missed the entire exchange.
After she was full, Victoria planned to leave.
As soon as she stood up, William pulled her back down to sit beside him.
He took a napkin and gently wiped the corner of her mouth, whispering, "No rush."
A moment later, there was a soft knock on the door of their private room. A middle-aged man walked in, looking friendly in his well-tailored suit, with a sharp glint in his eyes.
"William! What a surprise to see you here!" Wayne's voice was loud and warm.
He walked over, patting William on the shoulder with a kind smile.
"Uncle Wayne, long time no see." William nodded politely.
"Indeed, it's been a while." Wayne looked William over, nodding in approval. "I heard your media and advertising company is doing exceptionally well. You must be a business genius!"
"You're too kind, Uncle Wayne," William replied modestly.
Victoria stayed silent, listening to their conversation.
William's uncle? So it was Wayne Scott, the current chairman of Infinity Unity Group, the most powerful company under the Scott family.
"William, who is this?" Wayne finally noticed Victoria, scrutinizing her for a moment.
William glanced at Victoria. "My former secretary."
"Really? A secretary?" Wayne was surprised for a moment, then laughed heartily. "You sure know how to have fun."
Victoria awkwardly forced a smile. Could she pretend she hadn't heard that?
"What brings you here today, Uncle Wayne?" William asked.
"I just got back to the country and arranged a dinner with some friends, so I came here. Didn't expect to run into you." Wayne smiled warmly.
Wayne looked at William with affection. "Your grandfather has been asking about you. When will you visit him at the nursing home?"
"I was planning to go today, but something came up. I'll go tomorrow."
Wayne nodded in satisfaction. "Good, make sure to go early so he doesn't get upset waiting."
"Got it."
After a few more words, Wayne left.
His assistant was waiting outside. Seeing Wayne come out, he quickly approached. "Mr. Scott."
"Look into that woman," Wayne whispered with a serious expression.
"Yes, sir," the assistant replied, following Wayne out.
As soon as he left, Victoria let out a sigh of relief, finally feeling free.
William glanced at her. "Are you afraid of my uncle?"
Victoria shook her head. "Not exactly afraid, but the way he looked at me was unsettling."
"Why do you say that?"
Victoria shrugged, looking uneasy. "I don't know how to describe it. He was smiling at you, but it gave me a creepy feeling, like something sinister."
William seemed thoughtful, his gaze deepening.
"William?" Victoria called out, puzzled.
"It's nothing," William replied, snapping out of his thoughts. "Since we're done eating, let's go."
"The hotel I'm staying at is nearby. I can go back on my own."
"Let me take you back," William said.
"Isn't that inconvenient?" Victoria hesitated.
"What's inconvenient?" William chuckled. "What, are you afraid I'll try something?"
Victoria glared at him. "Who knows? You might."
"Really?" William leaned in closer, his warm breath brushing against her face, making her cheeks flush.
He bent down, his nose almost touching hers, the air between them charged with tension.
Her heart raced, and she couldn't meet his gaze. He was too close, and she couldn't escape. Their lips brushed.
She stared at him, her face turning a deep shade of red, looking stunning.
He smiled, his voice husky and teasing. "Since you think so, should we give it a try?"
His warm breath tickled her face, sending shivers down her spine.
Victoria pushed against his chest, moving back a bit, watching him warily.
William laughed softly at her tense expression. "Just kidding."
He ruffled her hair affectionately. "Silly girl, let's go. I'll take you back."
Victoria bit her lip, looking at him with a mix of frustration and resignation.
William, seeing her expression, sighed and took her hand, leading her out.
The hotel was just a few minutes away. When they reached her room, William showed no intention of leaving.
Victoria glared at him. "Why aren't you leaving?"
William looked down at her, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Do you want me to leave?"
"Of course I do." She was exhausted and didn't want to deal with him any longer. She had work tomorrow.
"If you want me to leave, then I won't."
Victoria was stunned. Was he really being this stubborn?
"I don't care. I'm staying here tonight." With that, he opened the door, lay down on the soft bed, and closed his eyes.
Victoria was at a loss for words. Could William be any more shameless?
She had no choice but to give in.
She sighed. "Fine, you win."
She tossed her bag on the couch and headed to the bathroom. "I'm taking a shower."
Hearing the bathroom door close, William opened his eyes, a satisfied smile playing on his lips, his eyes filled with joy.
