Chapter 114
William's eyes narrowed at the words. "Grandpa, where'd you hear about this?" he asked, frowning.
"Doesn't matter where I heard it. A guy being a bit of a playboy is no big deal, but this woman is Alvin's daughter," Garth said seriously. "Have you forgotten how your parents died?"
At the mention of his parents, William's fists clenched. After a moment, he spoke, "Grandpa, don't worry. I'm only doing this to get back at Alvin."
"I hope that's the case," Garth said, squinting slightly. "My health's getting worse, and I don't know how much longer I have. When are you coming back from Silvermist City?"
William thought for a moment before replying slowly, "New media is advancing rapidly. Silvermist City, as the economic hub of the country, has a lot of potential. Once things settle here, I'll consider other options."
Garth was moved by William's words. He patted William's shoulder excitedly and praised, "That's my grandson, always ambitious."
William smiled and then changed the subject, asking about Garth's health.
"Don't worry about me. I'm as strong as ever. You don't need to worry," Garth replied with a hearty laugh.
William spent the entire day at the nursing home, taking care of Garth.
Once the furniture was in place, Victoria started working on the soft furnishings.
She picked out some soft-colored throw pillows and blankets, and some modern art pieces to hang on the walls.
Besides these soft furnishings, lighting was crucial to the success of the exhibition.
She bought various types of light bulbs to test and see which worked best.
The workload was enormous, and she was exhausted every night.
But thanks to her efforts, the lighting setup in the entire exhibition hall was completely transformed.
During the final adjustment phase, Victoria worked at the exhibition hall during the day and holed up in her hotel room at night, drawing design plans and looking for areas to improve.
William hadn't contacted her in the past few days. While Victoria felt a sense of relief, she also felt a bit lost.
She understood that to William, she was just a temporary fling.
Once they returned to Silvermist City, everything would go back to the way it was.
So, although she felt a bit disappointed that he hadn't contacted her, she wasn't heartbroken.
Victoria gathered her things and decided to go shopping.
Most of the exhibition hall's setup was complete, and she wanted to buy some gifts for Wendy, Elara, and Samuel.
Last time, during the art association incident, Samuel had helped clear her name, and her award was reissued. She had to thank him properly.
Harborview City's malls were bustling and lively, filled with crowds. Victoria weaved through the shops.
She bought some pastries and small accessories first, then went to a skincare store to buy sets for her friends.
Although the prices were high, Victoria gritted her teeth and bought them.
She had given most of her savings to Bobby, but she had just received her salary and bonus, which was enough for her expenses.
Passing by a handmade crafts store, she saw some unique and cute items inside. An idea struck her-maybe she could make a handmade gift for Samuel.
It would show her gratitude and sincerity.
After thinking it over, Victoria walked into the store.
A few hours later, she left with her handmade gift in hand.
As she continued shopping, she passed a men's loungewear store. A set of pajamas on a mannequin caught her eye.
The pajamas were simple in design, with a slightly open neckline, silver embroidery on the cuffs, and a simple belt, exuding a sense of understated luxury.
Victoria stared at the pajamas for a long time, a thought suddenly popping into her head.
William would look really sexy in these.
A blush crept onto her cheeks, and her heart beat faster.
After a moment of hesitation, she reached into her pocket for her wallet.
"Miss, these pajamas are beautiful. Are you buying them for your boyfriend?" the sales assistant asked enthusiastically.
"No," Victoria replied, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"Don't be shy," the sales assistant said with a smile.
Victoria was about to say something when a familiar, slightly surprised voice called out, "Ms. Carter?"
Victoria looked up to see Lyanna pulling William's sleeve as they walked toward her.
Victoria's expression instantly became awkward.
"What a coincidence! I didn't expect to run into you here," Lyanna said with a smile.
Victoria forced a stiff smile. "Yeah, what a coincidence."
Harborview City was so big, with so many people, and yet they had to run into each other today.
William stood next to Lyanna, his gaze sweeping over the shopping bags in Victoria's hand, his eyes flickering slightly.
"Ms. Carter, are you buying lingerie?" Lyanna asked.
Victoria lowered her eyes and nodded.
"I'm planning to buy some too," Lyanna said, turning to William and affectionately linking her arm with his. "William, let's go in and take a look."
William glanced at Victoria a few times, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Sure."
Victoria's grip tightened on her shopping bags.
William's "sure" carried a lot of weight.
Seeing her standing still, Lyanna asked, "Ms. Carter, what's wrong? Aren't you going in?"
Victoria quickly replied, "Yes, I'm going in."
The three of them walked into the store, and the sales assistant approached them. "How can I help you?"
"Both this lady and I want to buy some lingerie. Could you recommend something?" Lyanna said with a smile.
She was always proud of her bust size and glanced at Victoria.
Although she was bundled up in winter clothes, making it hard to see their figures, Victoria's slender frame suggested she was probably flat-chested.
The sales assistant nodded and asked, "What size do you usually wear, miss?"
Lyanna had been waiting for this question. She smiled and replied, "D cup."
The sales assistant nodded and went to the counter, bringing out some lingerie for Lyanna, along with a nightgown to wear over it.
Lyanna took the lingerie and threw a flirtatious glance at William. "William, I'm going to try these on."
Victoria stood nearby, watching the two of them display their intimacy, and couldn't help but roll her eyes.
Lyanna emerged from the fitting room, looking stunning. She had a great figure, with delicate features and a voluptuous chest, and the sexy nightgown only accentuated her beauty.
William's gaze lingered on her curvaceous figure for just a few seconds before he looked away indifferently.
