Chapter 120

The text message also included a photo of Lachlan.

It was the same guy who was with Wayne when William saw them at the restaurant last time.

William stared at the photo, his eyes deep and unreadable.

Why did Wayne know Lachlan?

Why did Wayne meet him right after returning to the country?

William glanced at Wayne, who was sitting at the head of the table with a kind smile, and suddenly felt a chill down his spine.

He clenched his fists, trying to hide the coldness on his face.

Wayne noticed his unusual behavior and frowned in confusion. "William, is something wrong?"

William lifted his gaze slightly and said calmly, "It's nothing, Uncle Wayne. Just some issues at the company."

Wayne, hearing this, showed concern. "Are you in trouble? If you can't handle it, remember to let me know. We're family, after all. I won't stand by and do nothing."

William forced a slight smile. "Thanks, Uncle Wayne. I can handle it."

Wayne nodded. "Good, I know you can."

After dinner, William took the drunken Lyanna back to her room in the hotel and was about to call Harry to come over.

Just as he turned to leave, Lyanna suddenly grabbed his arm. "William, I have a headache."

William stopped, looking at her with clear, cold eyes. "You're drunk."

His tone was steady but left no room for argument.

Lyanna felt uneasy but pretended to be nonchalant, mumbling, "Uncle Wayne said you should take good care of me."

Her voice trailed off, clearly lacking confidence.

William initially didn't want to continue dealing with her, but hearing her mention Wayne, he suddenly had a change of heart.

"You want me to take care of you?" he asked, his tone calm.

Lyanna, overjoyed, nodded quickly and pulled William towards the bedroom.

Once inside, William closed the door behind them.

Victoria had come to ask William if he had found any information about Lachlan, but she didn't expect to witness such a scene.

Although she knew he had many women around him, seeing it so blatantly in front of her was a first.

Victoria's heart felt like it was being pricked by needles, a faint pain spreading through her chest.

She bit her lip, forcing herself to leave.

But she couldn't move her feet. Her legs felt like they were filled with lead, heavy and immovable, and tears began to flow uncontrollably.

Victoria kept telling herself, "William and you only had a physical relationship. You shouldn't fall in love with him. Believe in yourself. You're smart and won't be foolish."

However, despite her self-reassurance, the tears wouldn't stop, quickly soaking the front of her shirt.

A passing janitor noticed and called out in surprise, "Miss, are you okay?"

The silence was broken.

Victoria hurriedly wiped her tears, nodded at the janitor, and said lightly, "I'm fine."

After that, she turned and quickly left, as if being chased by a wild beast.

She had just reached the hotel lobby when she saw Harry coming in through the main entrance.

Seeing Victoria's tear-streaked face, Harry was momentarily stunned, then quickly approached her with concern. "Ms. Carter, what happened? Why are you crying? Did someone mess with you?"

Victoria wiped her face haphazardly and shook her head. "I'm fine."

Harry looked at her worriedly. "Did something happen? If you have any difficulties, just tell me."

Victoria pressed her lips together and shook her head. "Harry, I'm really fine. I came to ask if Mr. Scott found any information about Lachlan."

Harry was taken aback, not expecting Victoria to be looking for William for this.

He hesitated and said, "There is news, but..."

Victoria immediately became anxious, grabbing his arm and looking at him with pleading eyes. "Harry, please, you have to tell me. I'm begging you."

Harry sighed and decided to tell the truth. "Lachlan is in Harborview City. He's now the director of the Institute of Architectural Standard Design at Crystalia."

Hearing this, Victoria felt like her blood had frozen.

The Institute of Architectural Standard Design!

That's a national-level design institute.

Lachlan was the director there!

No wonder his testimony led the court to determine that Alvin's design was flawed, resulting in his conviction and imprisonment!

Victoria clenched her fists, the pain in her chest so intense it nearly made her collapse.

After a long while, she managed to regain her composure and hoarsely said to Harry, "Thank you, Harry. I need to go."

With that, she turned and quickly left.

She needed to calm down and think about what to do next.

Harry watched her leave, a look of worry flashing across his face. After hesitating for a moment, he took out his phone and called William.

The call was quickly answered, and William's deep voice came through.

Harry lowered his voice and said, "Mr. Scott, Ms. Carter seems to be in a bad state."

William, holding back Lyanna's wandering hands with one hand and the phone with the other, replied indifferently, "Oh? What happened?"

Harry thought for a moment and said, "I saw her crying as she left the hotel. She wouldn't say what was wrong. Then she asked me about Lachlan, and since you asked me to look into it for her, I told her."

William's eyes darkened, and he quietly ordered, "From now on, don't tell her anything without my permission."

After hanging up, William glanced at Lyanna, who was still moaning in his arms, feeling a surge of disgust.

He let go of her and stood up. "I have to go. Tonight's over."

Lyanna opened her hazy eyes, pitifully tugging at his shirt. "William, don't go."

She had taken off her jacket, revealing her sexy lingerie underneath, her ample chest almost spilling out.

William frowned impatiently. "Okay. I won't leave if you tell me why you wanted to be my secretary."

Lyanna blushed, shyly staring at William's handsome profile. "Because I like you."

William sneered, his mocking gaze falling on her smooth skin. "So what? I don't need a secretary, and I certainly don't need a sex partner."

"Then I'll be your sex partner, William."

She was flushed, her forehead covered in sweat, her face red.

She kept calling William's name, her breathy voice enough to arouse most men.

Lyanna stood on tiptoe, trying to kiss William.

But William remained unmoved, turning his head to avoid her kiss, a cold sneer on his lips.

He grabbed her delicate chin, leaning in close, his voice filled with danger. "Tell me, how did you know I didn't have a secretary in Kalashea Empire?"

Lyanna froze, instinctively avoiding William's gaze.

She nervously twisted her skirt, stammering for a while before whispering, "Uncle Wayne told me."
