Chapter 121

Her response deepened the shadows in William's eyes.

So it really was about Wayne.

"Did he ever ask you about me? Or did you tell him where I was?"

Lyanna looked up at him, biting her lip, and nodded. "Yeah."

William narrowed his eyes and let out a cold snort. "What did he ask you?"

Lyanna hesitated for a long time before lowering her head and slowly saying, "Not long after I became your secretary, he asked me about the company and..."

"And what else?"

Lyanna kept her head down, not daring to look at William, and stammered, "He also asked about Victoria."

William's fists clenched suddenly, his gaze sharp as he glanced at Lyanna. "What did you say?"

Lyanna trembled all over, "I-I said Victoria was just a slut, always trying to seduce you."

After she finished speaking, she sneaked a glance at William, only to see his eyes dark, his lips pressed into a thin line, and his demeanor chilling. She quickly shut her mouth, not daring to say another word.

William suppressed his anger, calmly adjusted his tie, and said indifferently, "Let's not talk about this for now. From now on, just do your job for me. Remember, if I find out you're reporting to Uncle Wayne behind my back again, you'll face the consequences."

His tone was extremely calm, but it sent a chill through Lyanna's entire body.

With that, William slammed the door and left.

Lyanna stood there in a daze, her eyes gradually filling with tears.

Victoria returned to the hotel, her mind occupied with thoughts of Lachlan and the image of William being pulled into a room by Lyanna.

Thinking about it, she felt a faint pain in her chest.

She sat on the sofa, burying her face in her knees, her eyes stinging, but she forced herself not to cry.

'You're just a mistress, what right do you have to be jealous?' she thought. This churned in Victoria's mind, growing stronger and stronger.

She kept repeating it to herself, warning herself.

After a while, Victoria slowly lifted her head, her eyes red, her expression dazed, like a soulless puppet, staring blankly ahead.

A crisp knock on the door startled her.

Victoria quickly adjusted her expression and wiped away her tears.

"Who is it?" she asked, sniffling.

The door opened, and William stood there holding two cups of warm cocoa.

He handed one to Victoria. "Drink this."

Victoria stared blankly at the steaming warm cocoa in her hand, her eyes red, her throat choked up.

"Why are you here?" she sniffled, her voice muffled.

Wasn't he supposed to be with Lyanna in the room? How did he have time to come find her?

William set down the other cup of hot cocoa and approached Victoria, wrapping his arm around her slender shoulders and pulling her into his embrace.

Victoria's body stiffened, and she immediately began to struggle. "Don't touch me!"

William held her tighter, as if afraid she would escape if he let go.

"Stop it, let's talk." William's voice was gentle.

"There's nothing to talk about between us. Let go of me now!" Victoria struggled, tears streaming uncontrollably down her face.

"Don't move." He grabbed her wrist, his warm, broad hand gently patting her slender arm, his magnetic voice filled with a soothing charm.

Victoria's body went limp, and she stopped resisting.

William rested Victoria's head on his shoulder, letting her lean against him.

"Did you see me go into Lyanna's room earlier?" he asked softly.

"Yeah," Victoria replied sullenly.

"Nothing happened between us. I'm not interested in her at all. I just had something to ask her. Don't overthink it, okay?"

Victoria kept her head down, not responding to his words.

Whether he was telling the truth or not, what right did she have to question him?

They only had a month left on their contract. What right did she have to accuse him?

Seeing her disbelief, William sighed and tugged at the corner of his mouth. "Didn't I tell you? I can only get hard for your body!"

Victoria's face turned bright red at his blunt words, and she punched him hard. "You jerk!"

William caught her small fist and pressed it against his chest, laughing. "Don't believe me? Feel for yourself!"

Then, he moved her hand down to his lower abdomen.

Victoria felt his heat and blushed furiously.

He was actually hard!

"William, you!" Victoria was both embarrassed and angry, trying to pull her hand back, but William suddenly leaned in and covered her lips with his, kissing her deeply and passionately.

Caught off guard, Victoria almost suffocated from his kiss, clutching the buttons of his shirt tightly, enduring his wild and domineering kiss.

After a long time, they finally separated, both panting heavily as they stared at each other.

William's eyes were filled with desire. He licked Victoria's swollen, red lips, his voice hoarse. "Still doubting me?"

Victoria's heart raced, and she swallowed nervously, turning her head away and pretending to be calm. "No."

"Good girl." William ruffled her hair and brought the hot cocoa to her. "Open your mouth."

Victoria obediently opened her mouth, letting him feed her a big sip. She couldn't help but frown. "Where did you get this hot cocoa? It's so sweet it's sickening."

William couldn't help but laugh at her puffed-up cheeks. "Someone was jealous, so I asked the shop to add extra sugar."

Victoria's cheeks burned, and she quickly changed the subject. "Thanks for finding out about Lachlan so quickly."

William smiled. "I've always taken your matters seriously."

"Thank you. I'll handle the rest myself. No need to trouble you."

Hearing this, William's smile faded, and he frowned. "Don't rush. Let me investigate further. I warn you, don't act on your own."

Seeing his serious expression, Victoria knew this matter wasn't simple.

But for Alvin's sake, she didn't want to back down. She forced a smile and said, "Got it. I won't do anything rash."

"Good girl." William stroked her long hair, satisfied.

Victoria promised William she wouldn't act rashly, but she was too anxious to just wait around. She couldn't suppress her inner urge.

Even if she didn't go directly to Lachlan, she had to check out his workplace.

Maybe she'd get lucky and find some clues.

Fortunately, the Institute of Architectural Standard Design wasn't far from the exhibition center. Taking advantage of her lunch break, she took a cab to the design institute.
