Chapter 163

Victoria followed the direction of his finger, and a shiver ran down her spine as fear washed over her.

William walked over, his expression softening a bit, and his tone gentler. "Xandria's got its dangers, and we don't have many options right now. For the next few days, we'll have to make do. You can take the bed, and I'll crash on the couch, okay?"

Victoria pressed her lips together and stayed silent for a moment.

Finally, she nodded, agreeing to his plan.

Seeing her willingness to cooperate, William let out a sigh of relief.

He walked over to the balcony and checked his watch. "Get some rest. I'm heading out to look for clues about Aunt Daisy and your dad. If you get too restless, you can walk around the resort, but don't wander too far."

As he spoke, he pulled a piece of paper from his pocket with a phone number written on it and handed it to Victoria. "This is Quinton's number. He's the driver waiting outside the resort. If anything happens, call him right away."

Victoria hesitated for a moment before nodding lightly.

William looked at her still distant and cold expression, feeling a slight pang in his heart.

He turned to leave, but Victoria suddenly called out to him, her voice still icy but with a hint of concern if one listened closely. "Be careful."

William froze at her words.

With his back to Victoria, his eyes were deep and unreadable, but a faint smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.

He turned to look at her, his gaze filled with unspoken words, but he only said softly, "Wait for me to come back."

Victoria nodded, saying nothing more.

After William left, the room fell into a heavy silence.

Alone in the room, every minute felt like an eternity, and the quiet made her increasingly anxious and restless.

Two hours later, unable to sit still any longer, she decided to take a walk around the resort to clear her mind.

The resort's wooden walkways twisted and turned, tall palm trees swayed in the breeze, and their large leaves rustled softly.

Not far away, the surface of the outdoor pool shimmered, with a few wicker lounge chairs scattered around, colorful cushions casually tossed on them, exuding a lazy, relaxed vibe.

However, Victoria was too anxious to appreciate the beautiful scenery.

She wanted to call William to ask if there was any news, but she was afraid of disturbing him.

She sighed and decided to head back to her room to wait.

In the distance, she noticed a small figure.

It was a cute girl who looked about seventeen or eighteen, struggling to push a large basket of fruit. The basket was clearly too heavy for her, and as she stumbled, the fruit spilled everywhere.

Seeing this, Victoria felt a pang of sympathy.

She hesitated for a moment before walking over to help pick up the fruit.

The girl looked up at her, her bright eyes blinking, and smiled. "Thanks! Are you from Crystalia?"

Victoria nodded lightly. "Yeah."

The girl's eyes lit up instantly, and she beamed. "I'm Giselle Hopper, I work here. What's your name?"

Victoria smiled. "I'm Victoria."

Giselle nodded enthusiastically. "Nice to meet you, Victoria! I'm taking these fruits to the kitchen. Enjoy your time here!"

"Okay." Victoria nodded, watching Giselle leave.

After parting ways with Giselle, Victoria walked back the way she came.

Suddenly, two young men with tattoos blocked her path.

One of them, a red-haired guy named Jett, leered at her chest and grinned. "Hey, miss, how much for a night?"

Did he think she was a prostitute?

Victoria glared at Jett in disgust, said nothing, and tried to walk past them.

The other guy, with a buzz cut, named Hayden, blocked her way, his beady eyes fixed on her legs. "Hey, miss, you're from Crystalia, right? So am I. How about a drink? I promise you'll have a great time."

Victoria was both shocked and furious, her cheeks flushing red. She clenched her fists and shouted, "Get lost!"

"Feisty, huh?" Hayden rubbed his hands together, a sleazy smile on his face. "I like feisty women. They're wild!" He reached out to grab her chest.

Victoria stepped back quickly, avoiding his hand.

Seeing this, Hayden got even more excited. "You dare to resist? Do you know who I am? I'm with The Raven Syndicate. Piss me off, and I'll kill you."

He laughed lewdly. "Tonight, I'll show you what a real man is."

Enraged, Victoria slapped him hard across the face.

The sharp sound of the slap echoed, and everything went silent.

Hayden clutched his swollen cheek, stunned for a moment, then flew into a rage. He grabbed Victoria by the collar and lifted her up, cursing. "You bitch! Don't you know what's good for you? I'll rape you right now!"

Victoria struggled, her head spinning and her breath coming in gasps.

Hayden's grip was too strong, and she couldn't break free.

Just as she felt she was about to suffocate, a strong hand suddenly grabbed Hayden's wrist and pried it open.

In the next moment, William yanked Hayden's hand off Victoria and kicked him hard.

Hayden screamed and fell to the ground like a broken kite.

Jett, seeing this, tried to fight back, but William dodged his punch and delivered a sharp elbow to his face, sending Jett to the ground, clutching his nose in pain.

William glared at them coldly. "Keep your hands to yourselves, or I'll break them."

Jett groaned in pain, then got up, gritting his teeth. "Fine! You're tough! Just you wait!"

With that, he turned and ran.

William quickly moved to Victoria's side, shielding her behind him, his voice trembling with anger. "Are you okay?"

Victoria, still shaken, shook her head, her eyes filled with fear and relief.

"Let's go back." William held her hand tightly.

Victoria hesitated, glancing in the direction the men had fled. "They won't come back, will they?"

William patted her shoulder reassuringly. "Don't worry. I'll handle it."

Victoria bit her lip and whispered, "Thank you."

William led her back to the room.

Once inside, he went straight to the bathroom, cleaned up, and changed his clothes before coming out.

Victoria stood by the window, watching him intently.

Despite her lingering resentment and anger towards him, she felt an unexpected sense of security and calm when she looked at him.

When he emerged, Victoria couldn't contain her anxiety any longer. She stepped forward and asked, "Did you find any clues while you were out?"

William looked at her, his expression serious. "I found some information. My aunt and your father were caught in a gang fight while negotiating a deal. Your father fought to protect my aunt and injured some people. Those people belong to the biggest gang in Xandria. They were captured."
