Chapter 18
Next up was customer reception training. Frank really hammered home the importance of good manners and a positive attitude to the interns. He said, "Always keep a smile on your face and greet every customer with enthusiasm and professionalism. Be proactive in asking about their needs and give them personalized service."
He even set up some role-playing scenarios so the interns could practice talking to customers.
Victoria was a bit jittery at first, but with more practice, she started to get the hang of it.
This time, Irvin played the customer and threw some tough questions at Victoria. "Why is this painting so expensive? Is it really worth the price?" he asked.
Victoria smiled politely and said, "The price of a painting depends on several factors. This artist is very famous and has achieved a lot in the art world. Plus, the technique is top-notch and the subject matter is unique. I think true art lovers can see its value."
Irvin kept pushing, "But what if I think this painting doesn't match my home decor?"
Victoria paused for a moment and then said, "We have a variety of styles in our gallery. What's your home decor like? I can suggest some pieces that might fit better."
Her answer wasn't perfect, but it was pretty good for an intern.
Frank was impressed with Victoria's performance and gave her high marks.
Next was the artwork explanation training, which was also super important.
Frank picked out a few key pieces to show how to explain them to customers. He said, "When you're explaining a piece, you should talk about the artist's background, their creative style, and the theme of the work. This helps customers understand its meaning and value better..."
Frank's explanations were clear and insightful, and the interns learned a lot. Victoria listened carefully, jotting down notes in her notebook.
During the practice session, Victoria asked Wendy for help with an abstract painting. She said, "Wendy, I don't really get this painting. Can you share your thoughts with me?"
Wendy was a bit hesitant at first, but she saw how sincere Victoria was and patiently explained, "This painting is an abstract expressionist piece. The artist uses colors and lines to express inner emotions and thoughts. See, the vibrant colors here show the artist's passion."
Victoria listened intently, asking questions now and then.
Wendy realized that even though Victoria was just out of high school, she had a keen eye for art and often noticed details others missed. Victoria's clear thinking and ability to connect the dots impressed Wendy.
Victoria was also pleasantly surprised that Wendy, who seemed so proud, was genuinely helpful, which made her warm up to Wendy. Their interactions became more and more enjoyable.
After the lesson, Victoria thanked Wendy.
"Thanks a lot, Wendy!" Victoria said gratefully, "I really learned a lot from you today."
Wendy waved it off and said, "No problem, let's help each other out."
Knowing she had a lot to learn, Victoria worked even harder to make the most of every learning opportunity. After each day's training, Victoria would hang back in the conference room to go over what she had learned. At home, she'd dive into art books and magazines to expand her knowledge.
Before she knew it, the weekend rolled around, and Wendy told her about an art exhibition featuring works by the up-and-coming artist Joshua.
Victoria was super excited about this since she had always admired Joshua's work. With some free time on her hands, she decided to check out the art museum on her own.
In the spacious, well-lit exhibition hall, beautiful paintings hung on the white walls, each one telling its own captivating story.
Victoria was completely drawn in by these works and eagerly started to appreciate them. She stood quietly in front of a painting that had a strong visual impact, with bold colors and a unique composition that created a powerful effect.
Victoria quickly pulled out her notebook and jotted down her impressions: [The colors are vibrant and full of energy, and the composition is unique, giving a strong visual impact.]
As she wrote, she closely observed every detail of the painting, trying to understand the artist's creative intentions.
Next, she moved on to another of Joshua's works, which had a totally different vibe-a sunset over the ocean, with golden light shimmering on the waves, creating an unparalleled beauty.
With delicate brushstrokes and soft colors, it created a peaceful and warm atmosphere.
Victoria picked up her notebook again and wrote: [Delicate brushstrokes, soft colors, creating a peaceful and warm atmosphere. The artist's emotions flow gently through the painting, bringing a sense of inner tranquility.]
She was so immersed in the world of the paintings that she completely lost track of time and ignored the figure quietly appearing beside her.
She looked up and saw a man who appeared to be in his late twenties. He had a lean build and a light stubble on his face, giving him a mature and charming look.
He wore a simple yet elegant white shirt with the sleeves slightly rolled up, revealing his strong arms and giving off a vibe of casual elegance.
Victoria noticed his slightly worn nails, a sign of long hours spent with art supplies. His slightly messy hair perfectly complemented his artistic aura, making him seem lively and unrestrained.
"Do you like this painting? You've been standing here for a while," he said with a slight smile, his voice deep and magnetic, giving off a warm and friendly vibe.
Hearing his words, Victoria was momentarily stunned, then politely responded, "Yes, this painting brings a sense of inner peace, making past troubles seem like fleeting clouds, leaving only a longing for beauty."
He chuckled softly at her response and said, "Your thoughts are quite unique."
Victoria smiled shyly.
"My name is Samuel Brown," he introduced himself, extending a friendly hand. "May I have the honor of knowing your name?" he asked.
