Chapter 188
Nora's thoughts were spot on, and a flash of anger crossed her face.
She raised her voice, "Victoria, I'm your mother! Don't you want a complete family? You haven't started your own family yet, so you don't get the pain of a broken marriage. When you get married, your husband's family will care about your background!"
Alvin hesitated and looked at Victoria.
But Victoria was completely indifferent, her tone cold, "A family that only brings torment is better off gone."
"You!"
"I just hope you two can part ways peacefully and not end up as enemies."
Victoria was too calm. Alvin glanced sideways at her, searching her face for any sign of reluctance or attachment.
At that moment, he suddenly understood that this broken marriage had left Victoria with nothing but pain and misfortune.
Alvin fell silent.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Nora stared at her in disbelief, then looked at Alvin expectantly, "Alvin, say something!"
They say men become more attractive and steady in middle age. Alvin had kept up his fitness routine even in prison, his body tall and strong, his features rugged, exuding the charm of a mature man.
Nora's gaze was greedy, unable to look away.
A crazy obsession screamed in her heart: Alvin was hers, and he must remain hers!
"Alvin." Seeing him remain silent, Nora's tears began to fall again, "We were married once. Can you really bear to see me homeless?"
Alvin stood up, looking tired, "I'll take you to a hotel."
"I don't want to go to a hotel. This is my home!" Nora refused to comply.
Alvin turned back and gave her a deep look, his eyes full of helplessness, "I don't want to make a scene in front of Victoria."
Nora bit her lip and glared viciously at Victoria.
She felt a bit unwilling, but then she thought the chance to be alone with Alvin was rare and not to be missed.
Alvin had been in prison for years; who knew how long it had been since he had been with a woman?
Thinking this, her cheeks flushed slightly, and an indescribable heat surged in her heart.
Alvin took Nora and her luggage and left.
Victoria watched their backs for a long time before coming back to her senses. After thinking for a moment, she decided to text Daisy about what had happened today.
She was about to close the door and rest when the property staff came over.
"Ms. Carter, the cleaner found a bouquet and a jewelry box in the trash can outside your door. The card in the flowers had your name on it."
The staff handed Victoria a pink jewelry box, "Could you check if it's yours?"
Victoria took the box and opened it, revealing a large pink diamond ring. The inside of the ring was engraved with "W loves V". There was no need to guess who had sent it.
Victoria felt a pang in her heart, the blurry face from last night flashing in her mind. She closed her eyes.
When she opened them again, she was calm. She accepted the ring and politely thanked the property staff.
Alvin knew Nora always enjoyed luxury and had high material demands, so he arranged a deluxe suite for her. After completing the check-in, he prepared to leave.
Nora immediately grabbed his sleeve, seductively pleading, "Walk me up, please."
Alvin frowned, wanting to refuse. But she stepped closer, her voice tinged with fear, "It's late, and I'm a bit scared."
Nora knew Alvin could never resist her when she showed weakness. As soon as she did, he would soften.
Alvin checked his watch and saw it was late. After a moment of silence, he nodded slightly, "Alright, let's go."
Nora's eyes lit up instantly, and she followed him like a clingy kitten.
After taking Nora to her room, Alvin began to check around, looking for hidden cameras.
Nora watched his back, memories flooding her mind. He used to be so cautious every time they stayed in a hotel, checking the room thoroughly before leaving. Back then, she thought he was overly cautious and often argued with him, insisting on getting two rooms.
Now, thinking back, she realized how unreasonable she had been. She had missed out on a man who cared so much for her. Regret filled her heart.
Her eyes reddened, and she walked up behind him, hugging him tightly, choking out, "Alvin, stay with me tonight, please?"
Alvin's first reaction was to forcefully pull her hands away, quickly putting distance between them.
"We're divorced," he said coldly, the warmth from the past long gone.
Nora couldn't accept Alvin's change in attitude, her emotions collapsing, tears streaming down her face, "You said the divorce was to protect me. How can you be so heartless to me now?"
Alvin didn't want to discuss the past anymore, replying coldly, "Remember to lock the doors and windows. I'm leaving."
"You can't leave!" She grabbed him tightly, her emotions intense, breathing heavily, her face pale. "We haven't finished talking. You can't leave!"
Alvin frowned, forcefully breaking free from her grip, and moved to open the door.
"Alvin!" Nora, unwilling to give up, rushed forward, stumbling and falling into his arms, cold sweat on her forehead, her body trembling.
"What's wrong?" Alvin quickly supported her.
"I feel terrible." Her face showed pain, clearly not faking it.
Without hesitation, Alvin picked her up and carefully placed her on the bed.
"Don't go!" As he prepared to leave, Nora clung to his neck, refusing to let go despite her discomfort, using all her strength to keep him there.
"I'm in this state, and you still want to leave? What if something happens to me and I die here?"
"Don't talk nonsense."
"Alvin, you don't know how much I've suffered these years, not just in my heart, but..." her voice was low and muffled, "my body misses you too."
Alvin froze for a moment, his brow furrowing. Just as he was about to push her away, a mocking voice came from behind, "Nora, it seems like none of the guys you've been with have really made you happy."
Both Alvin and Nora were startled, turning quickly to see Daisy standing at the door with her arms crossed.
Alvin's face showed a brief flash of embarrassment, but he quickly regained his composure.
"Who invited you here?" Nora snapped angrily.
"You looked like you were dying, so I thought I'd come check on you out of old acquaintance," Daisy replied slowly.
"Mind your own business! Get out!"
Daisy glanced disdainfully at the bedridden Nora, smirking, "Still daring to order me around, huh?"
Nora was furious, about to retort when she noticed Alvin's discomfort, and suddenly realized.
She grabbed Alvin's arm, pulling him close, a mocking smile on her lips, "I see now, you're so interested in our family matters because you're after my man! Don't you know it's wrong to break up a family? Can't get married yourself, so you steal someone else's man? Have you no shame?"
