Chapter 208
William was ruthless at work, his words sharp and cutting.
Victoria hesitated to interrupt, so she pulled out her phone, thinking she'd call a courier to bring her a change of clothes from home.
But just as she opened her phone, William's secretary walked in with a set of clothes.
"Mr. Scott, here are the clothes you requested."
William glanced up and nodded towards Victoria, and the secretary handed the clothes to her.
"That was fast," Victoria said, surprised.
She thought he might have done it on purpose and felt a bit embarrassed by her assumption.
When she looked up, she met William's gaze. He squinted at first, then seemed to understand everything, a slight smile playing on his lips.
Blushing, Victoria quickly took the clothes and headed to the small adjoining room in the office.
The room was still spacious and tidy, reminding her of the time she came here to resign and ended up making love with him.
The more she thought about it, the more she blushed. She hurriedly took off her coat, but in her haste, she caught her hair in the zipper of her dress.
She gasped in pain. Without a mirror, she fumbled to free her hair, only making it worse and pulling out a few strands.
Frustrated, she stomped her foot.
Just then, there was a knock at the door, a light tap before William pushed it open.
"Don't come in!" Victoria cried.
Her dress was half-zipped, her chest barely covered. She turned her back to him, exposing her tangled hair.
Seeing the situation, William raised an eyebrow and walked over. "Why didn't you ask for help?"
"I can do it myself."
"Don't move." William's hand gently brushed her back, his fingers grazing her skin. He knew how delicate her skin was.
He slowly and carefully freed her hair. Victoria stood still, feeling the tenderness in his touch.
Her heart raced, her cheeks flushed. William was special to her, after all.
He was her first love, and they had shared the most intimate moments. She remembered his every little preference.
Since Alvin intervened, she had drawn a clear line between them, and William hadn't pushed.
But some memories were etched deep. A glance, a touch, could bring back those heart-pounding moments.
Feeling the tension in her scalp release, she quickly asked, "Is it free?"
"Yes," William replied in a low voice. "As a thank you"
He leaned in and kissed her back, warm and gentle.
Victoria froze, feeling like she'd been shocked. She turned sharply, pressing her back against the wall. "William, what are you doing?"
William's gaze was intense and heated. Without explaining, he stepped forward, wrapping an arm around her waist.
Her waist was slender, and he felt an urge to tighten his grip, a desire to control that he found intoxicating.
Victoria knew this side of him well. She grabbed his hand, trying to pull it away. "William, we're not together anymore. You can't do this."
"Not together?" William's eyes darkened, a bitter smile on his lips. "Then let's make something happen, and we will be."
He cupped her neck and kissed her hard.
The last two times, she had been drunk, which had its own thrill, but it wasn't her true reaction.
Victoria's mind went blank, overwhelmed by his scent, dominant and invasive.
Her heart pounded, her chest filled with a rush of emotions.
William seemed to have waited for this. One hand pressed against her back, pulling her close.
He knew her body as well as she knew his, aware of every breath, knowing how to make her melt.
Feeling the cool air on her skin, Victoria snapped back to reality. She pushed his hand away, stopping him from going further.
William pulled back, eyes narrowed. "You feel it too."
Victoria didn't deny it, but that made her feel even more ashamed.
"We shouldn't be doing this," she said, trying to stay calm. She pushed against his chest. "We're adults, not kids. This doesn't mean anything."
But what she refused to admit was exactly what he cared about.
William didn't let go, gripping her chin. "So with another man, you'll also feel aroused? Is that what you mean?"
"You too," Victoria shot back, meeting his gaze without flinching. "Don't tell me I'm the only woman you've been with."
William's eyes darkened further.
"Even if you say that, I won't believe it."
Without her, he had Alice. They were practically engaged. No one would believe they hadn't done anything.
William took a deep breath, a bitter smile on his lips. "How much do you think you know me?"
"What about Alice? Did you say the same to her?"
William's brow furrowed slightly.
Coincidentally, his phone rang urgently.
William pressed his lips together, turned, and walked out to take the call.
Victoria took the chance to calm herself, quickly getting dressed and fixing her hair before following him out.
"Alice? Where are you? I'll be right there!"
The call was clearly from Alice. He looked worried, like it was an emergency.
Grabbing his coat and keys, he strode out, pausing briefly to say, "I'll have someone else take you home."
Then he left without looking back.
Victoria stood there, a self-mocking smile on her lips.
'Victoria, what are you expecting? You know this is impossible,' she thought to herself bitterly.
As she stepped out of the Scott Group building, her phone rang. It was the hospital.
"Dr. Myers?"
