Chapter 73

Hearing this name, William's eyes instantly regained clarity.

He furrowed his brows, withdrew from her, and gave her a deep look.

Then he straightened his clothes, pushed open the greenhouse door, and walked out.

Victoria panted slightly, a trace of sadness flashing in her eyes as she watched William's back.

She had almost lost control and entangled with him just now.

As William's figure disappeared from sight, Victoria composed herself and turned to leave.

Victoria walked towards the dining table and unexpectedly ran into Alice.

Alice looked at the flushed Victoria, and a trace of resentment flashed in her eyes.

She had come out looking for William.

He had said he was going out for a smoke but had been gone for a long time and hadn't returned.

Alice was worried that William might have encountered some accident while drunk, so she came out to find him.

Unexpectedly, she saw William kissing Victoria in the greenhouse, a passionate William she had never seen before.

The intimate scene almost drove her to collapse.

She had been living with him for so long, yet he had never touched her.

She always thought he respected her and cared for her body, so he was reluctant to touch her.

Now it seemed she was too naive.

Alice tightly gripped her phone, her nails digging into her flesh, seething with anger and wanting to kill.

But she held back; she wasn't a fool like Ella, who would get emotional and resort to violence at the slightest provocation.

Making a scene now would not benefit her at all.

She had long known about the relationship between Victoria and William.

But so what?

All men are dogs!

Just like Zachary, who used to dote on her mother but still cheated and had Ella, who was just a year younger than her.

After Alice's mother died, Zachary married Willow within three months.

But she could clearly feel that William had a special place for Victoria.

If she drove Victoria away tonight or quarreled with William because of her, she would be the one to suffer.

She would not allow this matter to escalate to an unbearable level.

Thinking of this, Alice put on a gentle smile and waved at Victoria, "Ms. Carter."

Victoria stopped and looked at Alice, feeling inexplicably guilty.

"Ms. Carter, have you seen William? I've been looking for him for a while," Alice asked, pretending to be calm.

Victoria cleared her throat and said softly, "I don't know. I just came out of the restroom and didn't see him."

Alice's eyes flickered, and she smiled, "If you didn't see him, then we must have missed each other."

Victoria nodded, said nothing more, and prepared to leave.

Alice called out to her, "By the way, my friend's bar is opening in a few days, and she wants me to bring some people to support her. I'm having trouble finding someone suitable. Why don't you come along? I promise to get you home safely after that, okay?"

Alice's words were accompanied by a gentle smile and a polite tone, making it hard to refuse.

Victoria hesitated for a moment but decided to decline.

She really didn't want to get involved with them any further.

"Sorry, I don't like lively places," Victoria replied tactfully.

"But I've already told Daisy you would come, and she was very happy. Are you sure you won't go? She would be very disappointed," Alice feigned disappointment.

Hearing this, Victoria hesitated.

Daisy had taken her to the hospital last time, and she hadn't thanked her yet.

"Since that's the case, I'll go," Victoria said.

Alice breathed a sigh of relief and smiled brightly, "Then it's settled. I'll send the address to your phone later, and I'll have a driver pick you up."

After saying this, Alice walked towards her seat.

Elmer and Primrose were very pleased with Victoria and even gave her a delicate jewelry box containing a beautiful diamond necklace when they left.

The necklace was a limited edition and very expensive.

"Ms. Carter, I had this specially designed for you. It will look beautiful on you."

"Thank you so much, but it's too valuable. I can't accept it," Victoria declined.

Primrose took her hand and said, "We are elders, and you can't refuse a gift from us. Take it!"

Victoria couldn't refuse Elmer and Primrose, so she looked at Samuel for help, hoping he would persuade them.

Samuel smiled and said, "Take it. If you don't accept my mom's choice, she will be unhappy."

Victoria had no choice but to accept the jewelry box.

At this moment, William also came out with Alice, seemingly not seeing them, and left through another exit.

But Victoria felt that his parting glance carried a chill, making her shiver.

Alice, holding William's arm, asked softly, "William, are we going home now?"

William saw Samuel's car leave through the window and said in a hoarse voice, "I'll take you home first. I have something to do."

Alice's heart sank, and she quickly asked, "What is it?"

"Just some work matters to handle. Don't worry, it's nothing major," William said perfunctorily.

Although Alice was unwilling, she agreed, "Alright then."

On the way home, Samuel noticed Victoria's low spirits and asked, "Victoria, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Victoria tightly held the expensive box in her hand and sighed, "Samuel, I can't accept this necklace."

"Don't you like it?" Samuel was a bit surprised.

Victoria shook her head and said bitterly, "Actually, I shouldn't have come to dinner with your parents today."

Samuel's grip on the steering wheel tightened, and he forced a smile, "Why do you say that?"

Victoria lowered her eyes, hiding the sadness and disappointment in them, and said softly, "Samuel, you're too good. We're not suitable."

Samuel's face changed suddenly after hearing Victoria's words, "Victoria, is it that we're not suitable, or you don't have feelings for me?"

Victoria paused and said slowly, "It's that I'm not worthy."

Samuel was the only person in this world, besides Alvin, who had given her warmth and care.

She had thought that with Alice back, William wouldn't bother her anymore.

She genuinely wanted to develop a relationship with Samuel and have a good outcome.

That's why she agreed to meet Elmer and Primrose with Samuel.

But today's kiss with William in the greenhouse made her realize that William wouldn't let her go easily.

She couldn't be entangled with William while openly enjoying Samuel's kindness.

Such behavior was too greedy and dirty.

Samuel suddenly braked sharply, the tires screeching against the ground, startling Victoria.

"Victoria, I just want to ask you, do you hate me?" Samuel turned to look into Victoria's eyes and asked seriously.

Victoria looked at Samuel's handsome and gentle face, her eyes slightly red, and said softly, "Samuel, how could I hate you?"

Samuel smiled, "If you don't hate me, it means you still have feelings for me, right?"
