Chapter 76
After hanging up the phone, Victoria immediately packed her things and went home.
The department store was quite remote, and it was an hour later by the time Victoria got home.
Elara was waiting outside the apartment building. When she saw Victoria return, she immediately came up to her.
"Victoria, why are you just getting back? Bobby has already left, and I couldn't stop him," Elara said anxiously.
Victoria frowned, "Left? Did he take anything with him?"
"He seemed to have taken a few paintings. I tried to stop him, but he's strong and fast," Elara said helplessly.
"Paintings?" Victoria was shocked. Without saying another word to Elara, she hurried upstairs.
Victoria opened the door and saw the place in disarray, with drawers and cabinets rummaged through.
Paintings were scattered all over the floor.
Victoria quickly picked up all the paintings and carefully checked them, finding that several of her better works from the past six months were missing.
More importantly, Bobby had taken the painting she was going to enter into the art association competition!
Victoria could hardly believe that Bobby would do something so despicable!
She felt a surge of anger, her chest tight and her vision darkening, almost fainting on the spot.
Elara was frightened and quickly ran over to support Victoria, "Victoria, are you okay?"
Victoria steadied her emotions and shook her head, "Elara, I'm fine."
Victoria clenched her fists in anger. Bobby had come to steal her paintings again, and she couldn't let this go!
Victoria took out her phone and called Bobby.
But after several attempts, he didn't answer.
Victoria decided not to waste any more time. She told Elara and then turned to head to the apartment Nora had bought for Bobby.
She had to find Bobby and ask him where he had taken her paintings.
Victoria arrived at the apartment door and rang the doorbell, but Bobby didn't answer.
She rang the doorbell several more times.
Still no response. Victoria angrily kicked the door several times before turning to head to Nora's hospital room.
Nora was sitting on the bed eating when she saw Victoria come in. Her expression changed slightly, "Victoria, you're here?"
Victoria glared coldly at Nora, "Tell me, where did Bobby take my paintings?"
Nora feigned ignorance, "I don't understand what you're talking about."
Victoria sneered, "Mom, don't play dumb with me. Bobby went to my house to steal my paintings! Where did he get the key? Wasn't it the one I gave you?"
Nora's face immediately darkened, "Victoria, are you crazy? What key and paintings? I don't know what you're talking about!"
"You know exactly what I'm talking about. I'm warning you, if you don't return my paintings, I'll call the police," Victoria threatened coldly.
"Victoria, I raised you for twenty years, and this is how you repay me? Do you have any conscience?" Nora angrily accused Victoria.
Victoria smirked disdainfully, her tone icy, "You raised me for twenty years? Dad earned the money, and the maid took care of me. What did you do for me? Beat me, scold me, and use me as a stepping stone for your precious son? I don't understand why you did all this. You don't like me, you despise me, so why did you give birth to me? Do you not know who painted the works Bobby won awards for?"
Nora's face turned pale, her eyes glaring venomously at Victoria, "What nonsense are you talking about! Of course, Bobby painted those himself."
Victoria laughed mockingly. She should have known that no matter what, Nora would always side with Bobby.
Victoria couldn't be bothered with her. She took out her phone and prepared to call the police.
"What are you doing?" Nora immediately reached out to grab Victoria's phone.
Victoria couldn't dodge in time, and the phone was smashed to the ground, the screen shattering.
Victoria looked at the broken phone for a moment, then coldly stared at Nora, "I'm telling you, don't think you can use me anymore! I'm no longer your puppet to manipulate!"
"Victoria!" Nora shouted angrily, "It's just a painting. Do you have to make such a fuss and disrupt the family?"
Victoria coldly stared at Nora, "Mom, I'll throw those words right back at your precious son."
Nora suddenly raised her hand and slapped Victoria hard. She shouted angrily, "You ungrateful girl, you dare defy me!"
As soon as she finished that, she slapped Victoria again.
Caught off guard, Victoria was slapped on both cheeks, which immediately swelled and bled at the corners of her mouth.
She held her painful cheeks, staring at Nora with a deep sense of grievance.
Nora looked at the red handprints on Victoria's face, a flicker of guilt in her eyes, but it quickly disappeared.
She coldly said, "Those slaps are to teach you to respect your elders. Do you think you can flaunt yourself just because you've seduced a few rich and powerful men?"
Victoria stared at Nora, her shoulders trembling, tears welling up but refusing to fall.
She coldly said, "You're my mom, so I'll endure those slaps. But I have no obligation to Bobby. Even if you broke my phone, I can still go to the police. I have witnesses and surveillance footage. I don't believe he can get away."
Nora's face twisted with rage, "You dare!"
Victoria fearlessly met Nora's gaze, "I dare because I owe you nothing, and I owe Bobby nothing. Why wouldn't I dare?"
Nora was furious. She raised her hand to slap Victoria again.
This time, Victoria quickly grabbed Nora's arm and pushed her onto the bed.
"How dare you!" Nora screamed hysterically, her eyes filled with hatred.
Victoria glanced at the furious Nora and coldly laughed, "How dare I? When you and Bobby bullied me, did you think about how dare you? Today, I'm daring. What can you do about it?"
"Victoria, you dare treat me like this?" Nora trembled with rage, her face contorted, "If you dare go to the police, I'll post all your scandals with William online and let everyone see how shameless Joshua's student is!"
Nora was completely desperate. She wouldn't allow Victoria to harm Bobby!
"You! You!" Victoria trembled with anger.
Nora pressed on, "If you dare report it, we'll both go down!"
