Chapter 79

William's pupils instantly contracted, and a deep, unfathomable cold light flashed in his eyes. "What nonsense are you thinking? I have nothing to do with her anymore!"

Alice saw William's reaction and sneered inwardly, but her face remained unchanged.

She pouted and said coquettishly, "Then why are you stopping me from being friends with Victoria? Besides, Daisy is there too."

William pondered for a moment and then slowly said, "Since you insist on going, go ahead. I'll have Harry take you tomorrow."

Alice's smile grew even brighter. "Thank you, William."

William said nothing more and went upstairs to change his clothes.

Watching his upright figure disappear around the corner, Alice's smile gradually faded, and her eyes darkened.

Daisy originally didn't want to go to any bar.

But when she heard Alice say that Victoria would be there, she felt something was off.

However, last time Victoria suddenly fell ill, and she was busy taking her to the doctor and forgot to get her contact information.

So, she had no choice but to go to the bar.

When Victoria arrived at the bar, Daisy and Alice had already ordered their drinks and were sitting in a booth waiting for her.

Victoria smiled apologetically. "Sorry to keep you waiting."

Daisy waved her hand with a smile. "It's okay."

Alice pulled her arm enthusiastically and invited her to sit. "Come over and sit down. What would you like to drink?"

Victoria looked at the seats and sat on the other side, with Daisy in between, and said, "Just a glass of Moscato for me."

Alice glanced at Daisy sitting next to her and smiled. "Alright."

Then she called out to the waiter. "Waiter, a glass of Moscato."

Victoria took a sip. Moscato is a slightly sparkling wine with a rich fruity sweetness, almost like juice, and it's Victoria's favorite kind of wine.

Daisy looked at her and smiled. "Just like your dad, you can only drink low-alcohol wine, or you'll get drunk quickly."

Victoria was slightly stunned, then pulled the corners of her mouth bitterly without saying anything.

Alice was surprised to hear Daisy's words and asked, "Daisy, you know Ms. Carter's dad?"

Daisy nodded without saying much.

Alice didn't mind and looked at Victoria with a teasing smile. "Ms. Carter is still single. The bar is having a singles matching event tonight. Do you want to join?"

Victoria was taken aback and smiled reluctantly. "No, I'm not used to it."

Alice looked at her and teased. "Could it be that Ms. Carter still has feelings for William?"

The tone was joking, but both Victoria and Daisy knew what she meant.

Daisy glanced at her and said lightly. "Alice, don't talk nonsense. William has a bad and stubborn temper, only you like him. Victoria doesn't care for him at all."

Alice raised her eyebrows and pretended to be clueless. "Really?"

Seeing Daisy's face turn cold, she immediately raised her hands in surrender. "Alright, alright, pretend I didn't say anything. Ms. Carter, let's go dance."

Victoria felt a bit awkward by her words, and when Alice pulled her to the dance floor, she couldn't refuse and reluctantly followed.

She had learned dance for a while as a child but never dared to try swaying her hips in front of everyone.

Alice had studied abroad for a few years and seemed pure and reserved, but she was much more uninhibited than Victoria, pulling her to dance wildly in the dance floor, attracting the attention of many men.

With a sudden exclamation, Alice stepped on Victoria's foot, twisted hard, and then let go of her.

Victoria stumbled back two or three steps, almost falling.

Alice's lips curled slightly, and just as Victoria was about to fall, she caught her and steadied her.

While Victoria wasn't paying attention, she secretly slipped a small packet into her pocket.

After one dance, Alice excused herself, saying she was tired, and went back to the booth to drink.

Victoria breathed a sigh of relief, sat on the sofa to rest, and chatted with Daisy.

After two drinks, Alice excused herself that she felt a bit stuffy, and went out for some fresh air.

Victoria watched her leave, deep in thought.

Daisy also looked at Alice's back suspiciously and murmured, "What's up with her? She's acting weird."

Victoria shook her head, indicating she didn't know.

She thought Alice had invited her out to test her relationship with William.

But all night, Alice only mentioned him once and said nothing else.

Was she trying to get her drunk and then get information out of her?

Victoria's mind was a bit muddled. She felt like a guilty thief, always worried about being caught, but also thinking it would be good if Alice could control William.

That way, she would be free.

This contradiction made Victoria a bit anxious.

But after waiting for almost half an hour, Alice still hadn't returned.

Daisy called her, but there was no answer.

Victoria frowned, suddenly having a bad feeling.

Thinking of this, she quickly got up and walked outside to see if Alice was there.

Just as she reached the door, the music suddenly stopped, and the dim bar lights were all turned on.

People who had been dancing to the music stopped and looked around in surprise.

Daisy stood on the steps, looking around with a serious expression.

Victoria also sensed something was wrong and looked towards the door, following Daisy's gaze.

She saw seven or eight police officers file in, quickly sealing off all the exits of the bar.

A police officer who looked like the leader walked over, glanced at the bar's patrons, and said in a deep voice, "Everyone, stand against the wall. We will conduct a search on you."

Daisy and Victoria exchanged a glance and followed the instructions, standing in a line against the wall.

The police searched each person one by one.

Soon, it was Victoria's turn.

Victoria clenched her fists, trying to stay calm, letting the policewoman search her.

She had a feeling this unexpected check was aimed at her.

Her right hand was tightly clenched, her palm sweaty.

Her heart was pounding like a drum.

The policewoman searched her upper body and then moved to her pockets.

This position made Victoria feel particularly ashamed, especially in front of everyone.

She tried hard to endure, controlling her urge to push the policewoman away.

Just as she was about to breathe a sigh of relief, the policewoman's hand suddenly stopped.

Victoria's heart tightened.

The policewoman took out a packet of white powder and held it in front of Victoria, saying in a deep voice, "What is this?"

Victoria's pupils contracted sharply, and her face instantly turned pale.
