Chapter 80
She tried to stay rational and shook her head, "I don't know where this came from."
Daisy had already been searched and was terrified by the scene. She quickly stood up to intervene, "Officer, this might be a misunderstanding."
The female officer's eyes flashed with coldness as she looked at her, "Shut up! Who allowed you to interrupt? Do you want me to take you in as well?"
Daisy's face stiffened, and she reluctantly closed her mouth.
Victoria took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, and said frankly, "This is indeed not mine. I can go with you to investigate."
The female officer took out handcuffs and cuffed her, taking her away.
Before leaving, Victoria, holding back her fear, looked at Daisy with red-rimmed eyes.
Daisy looked at her with heartache and said softly, "Don't be afraid. Leave the rest to me. I will get you out as soon as possible."
Victoria bit her lip, tears rolling down her cheeks, and nodded vigorously before being taken away by the police.
Seeing Victoria being taken away, Daisy felt like she was about to explode with anger.
She took out her phone and called Alice again, but there was still no answer.
Holding back her anger, she dialed William's number.
The phone rang for a long time, but no one answered. She grabbed her bag and rushed out, bumping into a waiter on the way, spilling the drinks on the tray.
"I'm sorry, miss, really sorry."
Daisy didn't have time to argue with the waiter and hurried to the garage.
She continued to call William several times, but still, no one answered.
Daisy was so furious that she almost smashed her phone, cursing, "Damn William!"
She was about to drive to the police station when she remembered she had been drinking as she touched the steering wheel.
With no other choice, she went out to hail a cab.
By the time she got a cab, it was completely dark.
The night breeze cleared her slightly dizzy mind a bit, and she stopped the futile attempts to call William, instead calling Harry.
Harry answered the phone quickly.
Daisy asked bluntly, "Where are William and Alice?"
On the other end, Harry hesitated for a moment, then said in a hoarse voice, "What do you need Mr. Scott for?"
"Cut the crap! Tell me where they are now!" Daisy shouted angrily.
Harry hesitated but finally answered honestly, "Ms. Garcia is in the hospital, and Mr. Scott is with her."
Daisy was stunned for a moment, then gritted her teeth, "Wasn't she fine just now? How did she end up in the hospital?"
"Ms. Garcia was drugged at the bar."
"Good job, Alice. I really underestimated her," Daisy said, suppressing her anger, and sneered, "So you all knew Victoria was taken by the police and deliberately didn't answer my calls, right?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line.
After a while, Harry's voice came through, "We didn't know it was Ms. Carter who did it."
"Didn't know?" Daisy laughed angrily, "Don't tell me William couldn't figure out who was behind this."
Harry remained silent.
Daisy sneered, "Fine, I don't want to talk to you anymore. Tell William I will personally hold him accountable for this."
Hanging up the phone, Daisy punched the car seat hard and started calling her lawyer.
In the interrogation room, Victoria sat on a cold, hard metal chair, her fingers unconsciously intertwined.
Despite her efforts to appear calm, she couldn't stop trembling.
The female officer poured her a cup of water and said coldly, "Victoria, right? Cooperate with the investigation honestly to avoid suffering."
The cold white fluorescent light mercilessly illuminated the entire room, highlighting the pallor on Victoria's face.
The female officer glanced at her and then began to ask, "What is your name, age, occupation, home address?"
Victoria reported her information truthfully.
"Victoria, we need you to cooperate with our investigation. Please explain in detail what happened at the bar tonight."
Victoria took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
Her voice carried a barely noticeable tremor, "Officer, I really didn't do anything. I just went to the bar with my friends to relax. I don't know how the drugs ended up on me."
The female officer continued, "Do you know Alice?"
Victoria nodded, "Yes, I went to the bar with her."
An older officer scrutinized her and continued to ask, "What is your relationship with Alice? Have you had any disagreements?"
Victoria shook her head, her voice weak, "We are just ordinary friends. Before tonight, we never had any disputes."
The older officer then asked, "So why were there drugs in your pocket? Can you explain that?"
Victoria's face turned even paler, her lips trembling slightly as she tried to suppress her inner panic, "I don't know how those drugs got into my pocket. I swear, I have never touched those things."
The two officers exchanged a glance and continued to ask, "Did you leave your seat at any point tonight? Or did you notice anyone suspicious approaching your seat?"
Victoria's heart raced, and she felt a wave of dizziness, but she forced herself to focus and recall, "I went to the restroom, but it was only for a short time. As for suspicious people, the bar was crowded, and I didn't notice anything unusual."
The older officer paused and then said, "We have a witness who says you had an intimate relationship with Alice's boyfriend. Did you try to harm her out of jealousy?"
Victoria's face turned ashen, her voice trembling, unable to form a complete sentence, "I, I..."
Seeing this, the older officer slammed the table and shouted, "Enough! We don't have time for your stammering!"
Victoria looked up at them in fear, seeing their serious expressions and eyes filled with anger.
Her breath caught, and she clenched her fists tightly, "I did have an intimate relationship with her boyfriend, but I never wanted to harm her, let alone use drugs to harm her."
The officers recorded every word Victoria said and then stated, "We will investigate all the evidence, including the bar's surveillance footage. Until the investigation is complete, you will need to stay at the police station."
After the interrogation, Victoria was taken back to the holding cell.
Victoria knew these accusations were Alice's schemes to frame her, but she had no evidence to prove her innocence.
She squatted against the wall, staring blankly at the darkening sky outside the window.
