Chapter 82
Upon hearing this, William's eyes suddenly changed. He stared at Daisy gloomily, his tone sharp and cold, "Don't tell Grandpa about these things. His health is already poor."
Daisy sneered, "What, did I hit a sore spot?"
William did not respond, a complex emotion faintly flickering in his deep eyes.
After a while, he spoke lightly, "Don't worry, Victoria will be out by tomorrow morning."
Daisy snorted coldly and walked away.
Victoria hadn't slept all night, staring intently at the door of the detention room.
She was very scared, afraid that she would really end up like Alvin, being arrested and sent to prison.
Her eyes, swollen from crying all night, were already as puffy as walnuts, her nose was red, and her face was pale, with dark circles under her eyes.
She lowered her head, her expression stiff, constantly rubbing her fingertips, as if this could reduce a bit of fear and despair.
In the morning, the door of the detention room opened again, and a police officer appeared at the door, coldly announcing, "Victoria, you can go."
Upon hearing this, Victoria's eyes widened in surprise. She asked blankly, "You said, I can go?"
The police officer repeated expressionlessly, "You can go."
Victoria signed the papers in a daze and walked out of the police station.
As soon as she stepped out of the police station, her tears burst out uncontrollably-she was saved! Finally freed!
Victoria walked down the steps in a daze, almost missing a step and falling.
William was sitting in the car, watching her tears roll down her face like broken pearls, his heart inexplicably tightening.
He drove the car in front of Victoria, rolled down the window, and was about to call her to get in.
Sitting next to him was Alice, who insisted on coming to pick up Victoria despite her discomfort. She spoke first, "Ms. Carter."
Victoria suddenly looked up, her gaze meeting William's and Alice's. She was stunned for a few seconds, then quickly looked away, wiped her tears, and turned to leave.
Seeing this, William hurriedly called out to Victoria, "Get in the car."
Victoria's back stiffened. She didn't turn around, only said softly, "No need, thank you. I'll go back by myself."
"Ms. Carter, are you mad at me?" Alice's charming voice reached Victoria's ears, her tone full of deep apology, "I'm really sorry, it's all because of me that you suffered."
Victoria's steps suddenly halted, but she didn't speak.
Looking at Alice's innocent face, her heart sank to the bottom.
She finally remembered what Ella had told her-Alice is a lunatic, she won't let you go.
And she remembered the hideous scar on Ella's body.
She felt a chill all over.
This Alice was terrifying, like a venomous snake lurking in the grass, silently flicking its tongue.
The moment you let your guard down, it would pounce and bite you to death.
Seeing her like this, William was immediately annoyed, "Haven't we already let you out? Alice suffered so much and still came to pick you up personally, what more do you want?"
Victoria gritted her teeth, trying hard to suppress the anger surging inside her, and said hoarsely, "I don't want anything. Please don't disturb my life anymore! I just want to live my life in peace."
With that, Victoria dared not stay any longer and ran towards the roadside.
She ran so fast that she accidentally twisted her ankle and stumbled to the ground, looking both pitiful and pathetic.
William hurriedly pushed open the car door to help her up, not noticing Alice's venomous gaze behind him.
Her gaze was fixed on Victoria, as if she wanted to carve a piece of flesh out of her.
William helped Victoria stand up, sighing lightly, "Victoria, Alice she..."
Looking at his handsome face, full of protection and favoritism for Alice, Victoria suddenly felt very pathetic.
She slowly lowered her head and said softly, "She's not wrong, I am. I shouldn't have gotten entangled with you, ruining your relationship. I deserve this; it's my own fault."
As she spoke, she couldn't help but choke up.
Seeing her cry, William felt irritated and impatiently said, "Victoria, enough! Stop talking!"
Victoria looked up at his eyes, her own eyes slightly wet, "First it was Ella, now it's Alice. Because of you, my life will never be peaceful. What did I do wrong to deserve this torment from you?"
William frowned, his thin lips slightly parted, wanting to say something but ultimately saying nothing.
Looking at his profile, Victoria murmured, "William, you're a bastard."
With that, she pushed William away and tried to leave.
However, William grabbed her wrist and forcefully pushed her into the car.
Seeing Alice's deep eyes, Victoria's struggling body suddenly stopped. She pressed her lips tightly and lowered her head, saying nothing.
Alice glanced at Victoria, then smiled elegantly at William, "Let's take Ms. Carter home quickly."
Victoria shrank her neck and sat in the back seat, silent, not looking at anyone.
Alice's lips curled into a mocking smile, then turned into a gentle smile, "Ms. Carter, you don't look well. Do you need me to take you to the hospital?"
Hearing this, Victoria suddenly looked up at her, her eyes red, "No need, I'll just rest at home. I don't want to trouble you and Mr. Scott. Mr. Scott is a good boss, but I don't want to be too much."
She believed that with Alice's intelligence, she would surely understand the underlying meaning of her words.
Sure enough, Alice's smile deepened, "Since you insists, we won't force you. How about this, I'll treat you to a meal on Saturday to apologize, how about that?"
"No need!" Victoria refused urgently, then added, "Thank you for your kindness, Ms. Garcia, but next Saturday, I have plans to go skiing with my boyfriend, so I really don't have time."
Upon hearing this, William's pupils suddenly contracted.
His grip on the steering wheel tightened.
Alice's eyes flickered, and she continued to probe, "When did you get a boyfriend, Ms. Carter?"
To dispel her targeting thoughts, Victoria replied, "He's the one who had dinner with me at Aroma Garden Eatery last time. He confessed to me, and I accepted."
"Really? You two are quite a match, congratulations." Alice deliberately elongated her words, her smile growing brighter.
"Indeed, a good match," William said lightly, his eyes dark.
Victoria only felt a chill down her spine.
Seeing his unpleasant expression, Alice's lips curled slightly, and she continued, "I haven't skied in a long time either. William, why don't we join them? The more, the merrier."
