Chapter 111
Michael's expression remained unchanged, not even a flicker.
It was the police officer beside him who explained, "We have already taken a statement from Mr. Brown. Ms. Taylor had prior contact with the criminal gang abroad; she went voluntarily. All these leads were provided by Mr. Brown, so there's no way they could be false. We have deployed the police to search for the criminal hideout. As soon as we have any leads, we will rescue her."
Harper's face turned pale with rage, confirming Bianca was sent away by Michael.
If he hadn't promised to take care of Bianca back then, Bianca wouldn't have liked him. What's wrong with her using some means for the Michael she liked?
Isabella, who was the one deserved to die. Only her death could fulfill Bianca.
If she had been ruthless enough to strangle Isabella in the Taylor Family back then, Bianca would have been the Michael's wife, and she wouldn't have ended up in such a miserable situation.
Madness surged in Harper's eyes. Before the police could drag her out, she somehow pulled out a knife and stabbed straight at Isabella's heart.
The room was small, and it was inside the Wilson Group.
The bodyguards were all outside, and no one expected Harper, a middle-aged woman who stayed home all day, to commit such an act.
By the time the bodyguards heard the commotion and rushed in, it was already too late.
Isabella was unprepared and had no time to dodge.
Just as the knife tip was about to touch her, a tall figure quickly shielded her.
It all happened in an instant. She didn't even see who stood in front of her, only smelled a familiar cold scent.
Immediately, Michael in front of her seemed to lose strength and fell to the side.
People around him quickly supported him, and the police subdued Harper, taking her directly to the police car.
The room was still in chaos.
Isabella approached Michael, wanting to ask if he was okay, but before she could speak, the knife stuck in Michael's abdomen appeared clearly before her eyes.
Blood stained his white shirt, and the wound kept oozing fresh blood.
For the first time, she felt weak and found her voice hoarse. "Michael."
Michael's face was pale, one hand pressing tightly on the wound. Meeting Isabella's worried eyes, he managed a faint smile.
He said to her, "Don't worry, I won't die."
Jesse arrived just in time. Seeing Michael seriously injured at the Wilson Group, his face changed dramatically.
Although he didn't like Michael much, as the heir of the Brown Group, Michael couldn't have an accident at the Wilson Group.
"Ms. Taylor, the car is ready. Let's go to the hospital first," Jesse said.
Isabella nodded. She reached out to support Michael, but the bodyguards beat her to it, lifting him into the car.
Jesse followed, and the group hurried to the nearest hospital.
Isabella stayed behind to manage the situation, but seeing her hands stained with Michael's blood, she momentarily lost control of her emotions.
The scene just now flashed by, that she couldn't even tell if it was real or not.
Michael didn't protect Bianca back then but sent her to Auroria, and he took a knife for Isabella.
The bodyguard responsible for watching Indigo hurried over, seeing Isabella's bloody hands, and knelt down in fear. "Ms. Taylor, it's all our fault. We didn't keep an eye on them and let them escape, causing you to get hurt. We deserve to die."
Isabella collected her thoughts and spoke calmly, "I'm not the one injured. Get up first."
The incident had already happened, and blaming anyone was pointless. The most important thing was to handle the problem properly.
Bianca drugged her, Harper tried to kill her. She would never forget the grudge against this mother and daughter.
"How did they get out? With so many of you, you couldn't watch two middle-aged people?" Isabella's voice was calm, but the accusation in her words sent chills down everyone's spine.
Everyone knew Isabella rarely lost her temper, but when she did, no one had a good time.
The bodyguards knew that even if it wasn't their fault, they had caused this trouble. There was no escaping it.
"This morning, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor pretended to be sick and went to the hospital. We followed them, but somehow they slipped out the back door of the examination room. We didn't notice, and by the time they did, they were gone."
Isabella said nothing, knowing Indigo and Harper had been sent to the police station.
Whether or not their attempt to murder Grace would be uncovered, the Brown Family and the Wilson Family wouldn't let them off for the hurt Michael took.
But this incident needed to serve as a lesson; otherwise, if it happened again, it would be her own fault.
"Participants will have three months' bonuses deducted and must undergo three days of physical punishment," Isabella snapped.
The bodyguards shuddered and replied, "Yes!"
Luckily, Isabella didn't fire them. If Jesse knew it, they wouldn't have been able to leave the training camp for three months, let alone three days.
The room was quickly cleaned up, and the front desk pretended not to have seen anything.
Isabella returned to her office.
She had just changed her clothes when Jesse called.
"Ms. Taylor, Mr. Brown is out of danger, but the doctor said the stab wound was deep, and he lost a lot of blood. Do you want to come and see him?" Jesse was reluctant as he said this.
Isabella was about to divorce Michael, yet he took a knife for her at this time?
Not only was Isabella confused, but even Jesse was also baffled.
Wasn't it said that Michael didn't like Isabella? So, for three years of marriage, he was very cold to her. Now, he took a knife for her. What was wrong with Michael?
Despite his resentment, he couldn't make decisions about this favor for Isabella.
On the other end of the phone, Isabella sighed, "It's good that he's okay. I won't go. Today's events were too chaotic, and I have a headache."
Michael's actions today completely overturned her worldview, leaving her unsure how to face him now, desiring only some quiet time, and deciding they shouldn't see each other for a few days.
Jesse continued, "Mr. Brown getting injured at the Wilson Group can't be hidden. The media will likely report it by tomorrow morning."
The incident happened suddenly, and all they could do was get Michael to the hospital.
Plus, many people saw the police take Indigo and Harper away, so it was impossible to completely suppress the news.
Isabella thought for a moment and replied, "I'll have the PR department keep an eye on it. You don't need to worry."
Just as she was about to hang up, Jesse remembered something. "By the way, Mr. Wilson has already arranged your birthday party for tomorrow, so all your uncles abroad will be back tonight."
Isabella checked the time. "When are my uncles arriving at the airport? I'll go pick them up!"
