Chapter 131

The next day, Isabella woke up naturally and saw posts about herself online, feeling a bit confused.

Especially when she saw that netizens had given Violet the nickname "arrogant foreigner without skills," she almost burst out laughing.

Netizens really know how to hit the nail on the head.

Just as she was reading the comments on her phone, a call interrupted her.

Seeing the caller ID, Isabella curiously answered, "Nolan?"

Nolan's pleasant male voice came through slowly. "Isabella, are you awake?"

"Yeah, I just woke up."

"Do you have time today?" Nolan asked directly.

Isabella hesitated for a moment.

Yesterday, Daniel had just ordered her to be the heiress of the Wilson Group. Even though Chris and Emilio were holding down the fort at the company, there were still many things that required her personal decision.

But Nolan had just returned to the country, and he called early in the morning, so he must have something important.

She tried to free up some time. "I'm not too busy at noon. Do you need something, Nolan?"

Nolan spoke honestly, "Actually, I wanted you to accompany me to the school I'm applying to, Evergreen City University. It's not far from you."

Isabella was taken aback. "Evergreen City University? Nolan, you just got back and you're already starting work?"

She thought Nolan wouldn't leave the country this time and would stay with Aiden at the Brown Villa for a while before considering work.

After all, he still had an injury on his leg.

She didn't expect him to give himself no time to rest.

No wonder the outside world said that everyone in the Brown Family was dedicated to their work.

Nolan chuckled bitterly on the phone. "I have no choice; they're pushing me hard. I can't just leave the students hanging."

Isabella smiled at his words.

She knew Nolan wasn't going back to work so quickly for that reason.

He was a Brown; money and power were his by default.

The real reason Nolan was in such a hurry to get out was simple that he didn't want to stay at home.

After being away for three years, everything in the country felt unfamiliar to Nolan. Now, with an injury on his leg, staying at the Brown Villa would only subject him to everyone's sympathy and pity.

Nolan didn't need that, so the best way for him was to throw himself into work.

"So, you didn't even take a day off and accepted the job at Evergreen City University?" Isabella's tone was light. "But Nolan, you must have forgotten how well I know you. Asking me to accompany you on your first day at work isn't your style."

"You saw right through me." Nolan laughed. "Actually, the school asked me to invite you to give a one-day piano lecture at Evergreen City University. You must have seen it; someone posted the piece you played at your birthday party online yesterday. Overnight, you became quite famous. An old professor from the music department recognized me and, knowing how close our families are, sent me to invite you to the school."

"What lecture?" Isabella chuckled. "I'm just an amateur; I can't compare to the professionals in the music department. But Evergreen City University is my alma mater, so I'm happy to help."

"Really? Then let's meet at the school later." Nolan was very pleased she could come.

They agreed on a time and hung up.

Isabella acted quickly. She handed over her work to Emilio, did a bit of grooming, and drove to Evergreen City University.

The school was located in the suburbs, with a vast area and beautiful scenery. A little while later, Isabella arrived.

When she enrolled here, she was eighteen.

A few years had passed in the blink of an eye; she was married now, but the place hadn't changed much.

She never thought that after leaving school for so many years, she would return as a guest professor.

As her car slowly approached the school gate, Isabella was about to get out and say hello when someone walked out of the security room.

Waving and smiling at her, he said, "You must be Ms. Taylor. Mr. Brown already informed us. You can drive right in."

Isabella thanked him and parked her car in the open space in front of the building, following her memory.

She called Nolan, who was in a morning meeting.

Isabella told him not to come down; she would find her way.

Outside the conference room on the sixth floor, Isabella saw Nolan sitting in a wheelchair, but he didn't notice her due to the angle.

There were many people inside, and it looked like the meeting would last a while.

Isabella planned to walk around nearby but then heard her name mentioned inside.

"The music department is in need of an exceptionally talented teacher. I think Ms. Taylor is perfect. I heard her piece, and it surpasses most of our music teachers. Moreover, I entrusted Mr. Brown to extend a sincere invitation to Ms. Taylor this morning. I thought she might refuse due to her busy career, but she readily agreed to come," Vice President Austin Roberts spoke with unconcealed delight in his eyes.

He also showed deep admiration for Nolan, the young professor newly hired from abroad.

On Nolan's first day at work, he brought good fortune and even invited the rare piano genius Isabella to give a lecture.

After he finished speaking, the conference room fell silent.

After all, Austin had made the decision, and there was no point in arguing.

At this moment, a thin male teacher sitting in the middle, Jerry Nelson, suddenly voiced his objection. "Mr. Roberts, you have already decided, so why ask for our opinions? Anyway, you make all the decisions for the music department, and we just listen your order."

Austin's face darkened. "Mr. Nelson, what you mean by that? I know you're upset, but you can't take it out on us just because I didn't agree to let you be the special piano instructor!"

Jerry sneered and retorted angrily, "Am I wrong? You use your position as vice president to do whatever you want without consulting us. Also, instead of choosing a teacher from the school, you pick an overnight internet sensation to be a teacher. Do you think we're all fools who can't see your intentions?"

Austin squinted his eyes, his tone authoritative. "Alright, clarify your point. I want to hear what you think I'm hiding."

Jerry stood up from his seat, eyes wide. "You know exactly what you're hiding!"

"I'm putting it out there today. We're all here for a job and a paycheck. If you insist on doing this, I'll just leave. Mr. Roberts, I won't stand in the way of your bright future!" With that, Jerry violently pulled out his chair and stormed out.

Leaving everyone else in the room looking at each other.
