Chapter 133

His tone was almost commanding, and Isabella was furious. "Michael, can you get it straight? We're in the middle of a divorce. Unless it's something that concerns both families' interests, please don't disturb my life."

She had finally managed to suppress her feelings and cut ties with him. Could he just stop showing up in front of her?

Little did she know, Michael on the other end of the line was just as angry.

His voice was cold and muffled. "Who said what I'm calling about isn't important? It's extremely important."

Isabella closed her eyes in exasperation, wanting to quickly get rid of this trouble. "Fine, then tell me what it is."

Michael didn't tell her directly but repeated his first question. "Where are you?"

Isabella, worn out by his persistence, blurted out, "I'm at Evergreen City University. What's the matter? Just say it now. I don't have time to waste with you..."

Sensing that Isabella was deliberately lowering her voice, Michael seemed to guess something and sneered. "That's perfect. I'm nearby. Meet me outside the campus gate in ten minutes."

Before Isabella could ask how he got there, Michael had already hung up.

Isabella was even more puzzled.

What could be so important that Michael couldn't say it over the phone and had to come find her?

Although she couldn't figure out what Michael wanted, Isabella knew very well about Michael's strong execution ability. If she didn't show up, he might really announce it to the whole campus to find her.

Thinking of this, Isabella decided to go out and meet him.

Before leaving, she sent a message to Nolan, telling him she had something to deal with and might be late.

She thought Nolan would be too busy in a meeting to reply, but to her surprise, he responded immediately: [No problem.]

Almost as soon as she sent the message, he replied.

Isabella was slightly surprised, discovering that the usually serious Nolan had a side of secretly checking his phone during work. But this didn't affect his excellence.

She walked briskly downstairs and out to the campus gate, where Michael's black luxury Bentley was already parked by the roadside.

Isabella walked straight to the back seat, opened the door, and got in.

It was clear from the scene that the two had something to discuss. As the driver, Aaron immediately got out of the car and stood far away.

Inside the car, Michael's cold fragrance filled the air.

Isabella had no intention of chatting with him and went straight to the point. "What is it that you had to come here to say and couldn't say over the phone?"

In her impression, Michael was not someone who would waste his time on trivial matters.

Besides, his strong execution ability came from his refusal to waste time on work.

Now his unusual behavior was almost unrecognizable to her.

"I can't clear it over the phone. First, answer my question. What are you doing here?" Michael's deep eyes stared at her, insisting on hearing the reason from her own mouth.

But Isabella was extremely averse to this.

She didn't want to be monitored by him in every aspect, having to report her every move to him. It made her feel like she had no personal freedom.

Moreover, their relationship no longer required this.

"Michael, I'm not your subordinate, nor am I your pet. What I want to do and where I want to go is my personal freedom. I don't need to report everything to you because it has nothing to do with you." Isabella felt angry.

Did he have to keep an eye on her every day, no matter where she went? She didn't like him being like this, nor like him monitoring her.

It was clearly him who had trampled on all her passion and love. She had waited for him for three years, only to be hurt repeatedly.

Now that she had figured it out and wanted to leave him, he suddenly seemed to have developed a strong possessiveness over her.

Indeed, all men were bastards. They didn't cherish what they had, but once they lost it, they started to value it.

Michael's expression changed. "Isabella, do you think I wanted to come find you? Nolan works at this university. It's only been one night, and you're already following him here. Are you planning to get a teaching job here to be with him every day?"

Isabella was shocked and blurted out, "Michael, what did you do? Did you have someone follow me?"

Realizing his guess was right, Michael's face darkened.

!

Ignoring her anger, his voice was chilling. "Isabella, I warned you to stay away from Nolan. Did you think I was joking? He starts his job here today, and you follow him. Are you afraid people won't see the relationship between you two? Have you thought about the Brown Family's reputation? Have you thought about my feelings?"

Michael's barrage of questions completely ignited Isabella's anger. "Michael, even if I stay at Evergreen City University as a teacher, how does that affect the Brown Family's reputation or you? Nolan and I are good friends. What's wrong with me helping him with a class?"

"I don't allow it!" Michael flatly refused. "Even if Nolan is my brother, I won't allow it. I forbid you from getting close to him. You both better give up. If you want to be a teacher, you can do it in any places, expect for Evergreen City University."

"

The thought of her and Nolan being inseparable at the same university, spending every day together, drove him crazy.

Her piano skills were exceptional, something Michael hadn't expected.

If she truly wanted to pass on good music, he could help her find other places and schools.

"Why should I listen you?" Isabella was furious. "Michael, the more you oppose it, the more determined I am to stay. I'm not interested in other universities. I want to be a teacher at Evergreen City University!"

The more Michael opposed, the more Isabella resisted.

She wanted to show him that her life must be in her own hands, and no one else could control it.

Michael's face turned ashen. Before they could argue further, Isabella's phone suddenly rang.

Michael thought it was Nolan calling her again and tried to grab the phone, but Isabella was quicker and answered the call.

Jesse's voice came through, urgent. "Ms. Taylor, something happened. Harper attempted suicide at the police station, hitting her head on a hard object. She was unconscious on the spot and has been sent to Hopewell Medical Center."

"What?" Isabella frowned, her tone low. "What's her condition now?"

"She's already in surgery. The doctor said her head injury is severe, and there's a high chance the surgery might fail," Jesse replied.

In the confined space of the car, Michael could hear the conversation clearly.

He couldn't care less about the argument with Isabella and quickly moved to the driver's seat.

He signaled to Aaron outside and swiftly started the car towards the hospital.
