Chapter 165
Isabella sneered at him.
Michael frowned deeply, slowly recalling the scene of Ethan drinking with him at the bar.
It turned out Isabella was right.
He did have such an image in his mind, but he couldn't prove his innocence in front of her.
He couldn't possibly tell her that he went to the bar because he was jealous of her being with Nolan.
He found a woman later because he heard her voice while drunk and called her over on purpose to provoke her.
His goal was to see if he still mattered to her.
As a result, he drank too much and didn't remember what happened afterward.
Originally, he wanted to take the opportunity to deceive Isabella, but in the end, he felt guilty.
Michael got up and went to the bathroom, looking at himself in the mirror. If the marks weren't left by Isabella, he would feel utterly disgusted.
He better not find out who it was, and Ethan, as his good friend, couldn't he stop him when he was drunk?
When he returned to the room, Isabella had already gotten up and changed into new clothes from the wardrobe.
Who knows what kind of quirk Michael has, liking to keep clothes in her size everywhere, even at the Brown Villa.
"I made breakfast. Aren't you going to eat?" Michael felt guilty about the hickey on his neck and just wanted to change the subject quickly.
He would talk to Ethan to understand the situation later.
"No!" Isabella put on her coat; she didn't want to see him at all right now.
Just as she was about to leave, she smelled the rich aroma of food coming from the living room. It seemed to be all her favorite dishes.
Isabella swallowed involuntarily; it smelled so good she couldn't move.
Michael noticed and smiled, saying at the right moment, "You should eat a little. You're in the pre-pregnancy period now; you can't go hungry."
They rarely ate together, and Michael's understanding of her taste was limited to a few dishes she had eaten at home.
So, he didn't spend much time making breakfast.
"Since you put it that way, I'll reluctantly eat a bit." Isabella glanced towards the living room, sat at the dining table, and looked at the dishes and soup in front of her, all specially balanced for nutrition, having a complicate feeling about it.
In three years of marriage, counting this meal, she had only eaten two meals he made, which were after she had filed for divorce.
The last time she ate with Aiden, she was already deeply moved.
And this time, it was specially made for her alone.
If he had done this for her before, she would have been moved to tears.
But now, she had decided to separate from him, and his belated change only made her feel worse.
Looking at the sincere dishes in front of her, Isabella bit her lip.
She picked up the utensils but slowly put them down again, realizing she shouldn't indulge anymore.
She had been married to him for three years, and he had loved Bianca for three years. She couldn't forgive his past just because of these small gestures.
Isabella held back her tears and stood up. "I suddenly remembered I have something to deal with, so I won't eat breakfast."
She hadn't forgotten her appointment with Nolan.
She had already missed one appointment with him a few days ago and couldn't miss another.
Michael's villa was in the city center, and it would take her about forty minutes to drive there. She was afraid she wouldn't make it in time.
"In such a hurry, or do you just not have an appetite for my cooking?" Seeing her about to leave, Michael felt a rare sense of panic.
"Yes," Isabella responded, implicitly agreeing with his words.
They had come to this point; what was the point of eating together? The outcome wouldn't change because of this meal.
"Alright, where are you going now, the company? I'll drive you." Michael didn't argue with her, wanting to do something considerate for her.
"No need, I have my own car." Isabella frowned, not used to Michael being so clingy.
"No way!" Michael blocked her. "We agreed that this is the pre-pregnancy period. You didn't eat breakfast and won't let me drive you; I can't let you go. How about this, I'll buy you something you like to eat on the way and watch you eat it before I leave."
Michael's serious demeanor made Isabella feel ridiculous.
They both wanted a child, but she wasn't even pregnant yet. Even if she were, it would take half a month to find out. Was he so eager to be a father?
Not wanting to expose his facade, Isabella blinked and asked, "Are you sure you want to drive me?"
"Yes." Michael's tone was serious.
"Alright, I'm in a hurry to meet someone at Evergreen City University. Are you coming too?" Isabella spoke bluntly.
Yesterday at the Brown Villa, he had heard her conversation with Nolan clearly and knew who she was going to see. He also knew what she was going to do.
So, she was waiting for his angry reaction and then leave.
But she underestimated Michael's patience.
"Yes!" Michael responded decisively and quickly, without any reluctance or anger.
This time, it was Isabella's turn to be stunned.
She forced a smile. "It's far from here to Evergreen City University. Going with me might delay your schedule. Your company is so busy; maybe you should reconsider."
She couldn't help but think, 'Oh God, why did I bring this up? If Michael and Nolan meet, who know if they would fight again?'
Yesterday at the Brown Villa, she could barely hold them back. This time, in the crowded university campus, if they fought, it would be a free live show.
But Michael didn't think so. He took the keys and walked out first. "No matter how busy I am, I have time to drive you. Let's go, don't waste time."
Even sitting in the passenger seat, Isabella couldn't figure out why Michael agreed to drive her to Evergreen City University.
He was so busy with work, yet he was willing to waste an hour or two driving her? Was he planning something bad?
Thinking of that she had to be on guard.
On the way, Isabella was full of thoughts, but Michael acted as if nothing was wrong. He took her to a breakfast shop first, and after eating, they arrived at Evergreen City University.
From a distance, Isabella saw two rows of people standing at the entrance. When the car stopped by the roadside, Isabella was stunned to see principal Travis West was there to greet her.
Before she could react, Michael had already gotten out of the car and shook hands with Travis naturally. "We shouldn't be late, right?"
Travis smiled. "No.Mr. Brown, it's our honor that you could take time out of your busy schedule to visit Evergreen City University. For this, on behalf of the school, I warmly welcome you!"
With a gesture from Travis, the students behind him shouted slogans louder and louder, and some even raised banners.
Seeing such a grand scene, Isabella was stunned in the car.
