Chapter 168
The moment Michael received the call from the hospital, he rushed over in a hurry.
He even abandoned his school speech, fearing that something might have really happened to Daniel.
But he didn't expect that Isabella would think of him this way.
Just as Michael was about to say something more, the door of the operating room opposite suddenly opened.
A nurse pushed Daniel out from inside.
Sean, the attending physician, took off his mask and let out a long sigh of relief, "The surgery was relatively successful. We need to closely monitor him tonight. If there are no sudden complications, the crisis will be over."
"Thank you, Dr. Gray."
"Thanks to you for saving my dad, otherwise we really wouldn't know what to do."
The five Wilsons' sons sincerely thanked Sean.
Isabella immediately rushed to Daniel's bedside.
Then, a few of them took over the hospital bed from the nurse and carefully pushed Daniel to the intensive care unit.
No one paid attention to Michael, who was still standing nearby.
Sean saw him and nodded reassuringly before leaving.
In the ward, Isabella anxiously stayed by Daniel's side, while several uncles were scattered around, either standing or sitting, but all with a layer of coldness on their faces.
Seeing Daniel's face, already tormented by illness, now even paler, Isabella's heart ached.
But the most important thing now was to find out who had upset Daniel.
"Uncle Atticus, have you found out who showed the video to Grandpa?" Isabella asked.
It wasn't that she was overly suspicious, but the hospital's security had always been very good, and the outside news had always been tightly controlled.
Plus, the people around them would never let Daniel come into contact with such things.
How did they fail today? How did Daniel suddenly find out about her plan to divorce?
Atticus lowered his eyes and said in a deep voice, "We've already found out. It was your grandpa's bodyguard, Asher Warner. The phone was his."
"Asher?" Isabella frowned.
Daniel's personal bodyguard, carefully selected and trained by Daniel since childhood, had been with the Wilson Family since his teens.
He was especially loyal to Daniel.
Over the years, Daniel's safety had been largely due to him.
But Asher, such a meticulous person, how could he make such a low-level mistake?
"Didn't he know this would harm Grandpa?" Isabella couldn't figure out the reason.
She trusted Asher's character; he would never do such a thing to Daniel.
"How could he not know?" Atticus sighed, feeling helpless.
"If someone else had done this, it might be worth investigating. But if it was Asher, it can only mean one thing..." Atticus didn't finish his sentence, but Isabella already understood.
Asher only followed Daniel's orders. If he did this, it must have been because Daniel instructed him to.
"Atticus, you mean Dad already suspected?" Holden swallowed, finding it hard to believe.
Kian also chimed in, "Actually, it's understandable. Dad has been through so much. Isabella and Michael's act at the birthday party couldn't fool him; he just didn't have the evidence."
"Asher confessed on the spot and has already gone to accept his punishment." Atticus's words confirmed the situation.
No one was trying to harm Daniel; Daniel had sensed something was wrong from the beginning.
So he had Asher take out the phone and saw for himself the truth about Isabella and Michael's divorce.
It was all her fault for acting impulsively, exposing her hidden identity of three years, and making a scene about the divorce with Michael online. Everything started because of her.
"Uncle Atticus, what should I do? Grandpa can't take any more stress." Tears streamed uncontrollably from Isabella's eyes. She was so scared now.
Daniel was so angry because of her divorce, but now what could she do to make Daniel not feel hurt when he woke up?
Her mind was in a panic, unable to think of a solution to this problem.
Not just her, her uncles who heard this also exchanged glances, pursing their lips, not knowing what to say.
Finally, Atticus stepped forward.
He patted Isabella's shoulder, comforting her, "Isabella, since your grandpa already knows, explaining further won't help. Maybe we should just..."
Before he finished his words, Atticus was interrupted by a low voice from behind.
"Uncle Atticus, I have a way to make Grandpa not be troubled by this anymore." Atticus frowned upon seeing Michael still there.
Isabella didn't speak, not even giving Michael a glance.
Michael stood at the door, looking directly at Isabella by the bed, "Can you listen to me for a moment?"
Isabella glanced at him impatiently, "Say what you want to say and leave quickly!"
A ward full of people couldn't find a solution, what made him think he could?
Michael, who had been lingering outside the door, pursed his lips, stepped into the ward, and stood by the bed before speaking slowly.
"Grandpa's sudden illness, the divorce is just a trigger. What he really worries about is you." Michael's gaze pointed at Isabella, "If you are not happy in the future, how could he not worry? So we just need to solve this core issue, and Grandpa won't be troubled by it anymore."
As soon as he said this, the other five men in the room shot sharp looks at Michael.
They were all men; they knew what Michael was up to.
But Isabella's mind was entirely on Daniel's safety, not realizing anything else.
"How do you propose to solve the problem?" Isabella asked.
She only wanted Daniel to be safe and sound, nothing else mattered.
Michael quickly replied, "Grandpa doesn't want you to divorce, so we won't divorce. Let him see us being close and loving."
Before Michael could finish, Isabella interrupted him, "Michael, do you know what you're saying? We are getting a divorce!"
Michael, who had been calling for girls at the bar last night and entangled with Violet at school this morning, how could he have the nerve to ask her to pretend to be loving with him?
Isabella's straightforward words almost choked Michael.
Although she was telling the truth, he still felt hurt.
"I understand what you mean, so my suggestion is that we continue to act as a married couple in front of Grandpa until he believes it."
He continued, "And you've seen Grandpa's condition. If you insist on telling him the truth about our divorce, wouldn't that be even more cruel to him?"
Michael's words were reasonable, entirely for Daniel and her sake.
But Isabella sensed something unusual.
She thought, 'Is he really so kind-hearted? Or is he hiding some ulterior motive?'
