Chapter 175

Isabella sat on the bench outside, waiting for Michael to come back with the medicine.

Hearing the conversation inside, she wished she could dig a hole and hide herself.

Just then, Michael returned. Before he could say anything, Isabella gave him a fierce glare.

"It's all your fault. Now I'm the topic of everyone's gossip."

Michael didn't care at all. "What's there to be afraid of? We're married. Everything we do is legal."

He was asserting his dominance.

Only he could hold her and go wherever he wanted. Could Nolan do that?

"You."

Isabella was momentarily speechless.

"Michael, you'd better not do this again, or else I'll, I'll..."

She blushed, bit her lip, and couldn't get the threat out of her throat.

But her appearance made Michael's heart flutter.

How could she be so cute?

Clearly, she was the one who seduced him, and now she was threatening him?

He raised his eyebrows and deliberately provoked her, "Or else, what will you do?"

Isabella snorted coldly, "At worst, I'll just go for IVF. It's just a child. You only need to provide the sperm."

It would save her from being tormented by him.

"How dare you!"

Michael's face darkened instantly, clearly displeased.

Isabella raised her chin, "Why wouldn't I dare? Our agreement is about having a child. No one specified how the child should come about, right?"

Michael took two steps forward, leaned down, and looked her in the eye, "It's just a child. No need for IVF. I can make sure you can't get out of bed every day until you're pregnant with my child."

He spoke with absolute certainty.

Seeing the determination in Michael's eyes, Isabella's heart skipped a beat.

She swallowed hard.

She didn't dare not believe him.

Because he had the ability and strength to "make" it happen.

But the matter of the child indeed needed to be expedited. Only if she successfully got pregnant could she completely escape his control.

As the two of them were locked in a staring contest, a familiar figure came running towards them in a hurry.

"Ms. Taylor, something's happened. Harper is missing!"

The person running over was Jesse, who had been keeping watch at the hospital. Upon learning that Isabella was at the hospital, he didn't bother to call and came straight over.

Hearing that Harper was missing, Isabella instantly stood up, the sharp pain almost causing her to fall.

Fortunately, Michael was by her side. He scooped her up and took her to Harper's hospital room.

Seeing the empty room, Isabella angrily slapped the table.

"Where are the people I told you to watch?"

"Harper, someone who can't even move, managed to slip away under your watch. Is this how you do your job?"

As the heir to the Wilson Group, Isabella's aura was no longer the same as before.

A single sharp look from her was enough to intimidate her subordinates.

Except for Jesse, the others didn't dare to lift their heads, waiting for Isabella's punishment.

Making a mistake meant accepting punishment, even for the leader Jesse.

This was a rule they had memorized when they joined the Wilson Family.

And as their master, Isabella had the right to deal with them as she saw fit.

But Michael felt sorry for her.

Harper was the prime suspect in Grace's murder. Watching Harper slip away right before her eyes, Isabella's anger was unimaginable.

He stepped forward, holding her hand tightly, giving her strength and support.

"I've already asked about the situation. Her disappearance is very suspicious. Let me handle this. I'll find her. You should go back."

"I'm not leaving!"

"Michael, you don't understand my pain at all. Do you know what Harper and Bianca did to me? Letting Bianca go was one thing, but Harper is the one who killed my mother. How could I possibly let her go!"

Michael had underestimated Isabella's anger. All she could think about now was how Harper had escaped.

How did Harper, someone who couldn't even open her eyes, manage to evade both her and Michael's watch and get taken away?

Unless someone was helping from the inside and outside.

"It was you, wasn't it?"

Jesse would never go against her wishes. The only person who could have intervened was someone on his side.

Isabella's tone was certain, as if she had already determined that he was the one who helped Harper escape.

"Isabella, you don't trust me?"

Michael's face darkened, his heart aching as if pricked by needles.

But he also knew that Isabella was emotionally triggered and didn't mean it.

Isabella, with red eyes, shook off his hand.

"How can I trust you? The only people guarding the hospital were yours and mine. But now Harper is gone. I trust my people. The only suspicious person is you."

To move Harper out of the hospital so quietly, avoiding her people, only Michael could have done it.

Who else in Evergreen City had that kind of power?

Michael didn't want to have a meaningless argument with her at this moment.

He reached out to grab her again, "Isabella, calm down. Anger won't solve anything. Let me handle this, okay? I'll take care of everything."

"Let you handle it?"

Isabella sneered, "And then let you play me for a fool? Michael, do you still think you can deceive me with lies? Do you think I'll believe you again?"

Michael was almost amused by her stubbornness.

Seeing that persuasion wasn't working, he could only follow her line of thought, "You don't have to trust me, but think about it. If I really had that intention, why would I wait until now to act?"

The night Harper was brought to the hospital, he had stayed there all night.

Didn't she remember any of his good deeds?

He didn't have any leads now, but being wronged by Isabella was also very painful.

Their relationship had just started to improve, and their feelings were growing. They couldn't afford to have a cold war over a small issue.

But Isabella clearly didn't think so. "How do I know what you're thinking? Maybe you wanted to gain my trust first and then act. Isn't that your usual tactic?"

"Everyone knows you've already considered Harper as a future elder. Maybe you feel guilty towards Bianca and want to make it up to her."

Isabella guessed wildly in her anger.

"Isabella!"

This time, Michael was truly angry. "Even nonsense has its limits. When did I ever say such things? I have nothing to do with them. Stop overthinking."

After saying that, he directly ordered his people, "Take Mrs. Brown home. Guard outside and don't let her run out."

Michael's people quickly took action. Isabella's people only glanced over, not daring to intervene because of the command to "take Isabella home."

Even Jesse just frowned. Daniel had already sent word that no one was to interfere with the couple's relationship.

Otherwise, they would be going against Daniel.

Isabella couldn't struggle, and her legs couldn't move, so she had to obediently get in the car and leave.

Sitting in the car, she went over everything that had happened recently.

She had clearly spoken to Jesse on the phone in the afternoon, confirming that Harper was still in a coma.

How did she get taken away in less than half a day?
