Chapter 201

No one understood Isabella's allure to Michael better than he did.

If he didn't restrain himself, he feared she would see the desire in his heart. If that made her uncomfortable or repulsed, and she disappeared again, he would truly go mad.

For her, for the child, he dared not act recklessly anymore.

Seeing this, Isabella didn't think much more about it. She was exhausted after a long day and just wanted to explain things clearly to him.

"Michael, do you remember the childbearing agreement we talked about before?"

When she proposed the agreement, Michael had agreed on the surface, but he hadn't brought it up since, especially since the child's situation was uncertain at the time.

So it was put aside.

Now that she was pregnant, the agreement needed to be addressed.

Childbearing agreement?

Michael's brow furrowed deeply, and he composed himself to stabilize his emotions. "Isabella, do you know what you're saying?"

He remembered that so-called agreement very clearly.

An agreement that used money to take away his rights as a biological father-did she really think he would agree to that?

If he truly cared about money or shares in the Brown Group, he wouldn't have silently allowed Aiden to give her shares back then.

She didn't understand where his heart truly lay.

But at this moment, Isabella was determined to break free from Michael's control, so she didn't notice the change in his tone.

"I remember you agreed at the time, so I want to draft this agreement as soon as possible. I'll have the lawyer send it over tomorrow, and once we both sign, it will take effect immediately."

Such a significant matter couldn't be delayed. If Michael changed his mind midway, she wouldn't be able to explain.

Only when it had legal effect could she truly be at ease.

"Isabella, when you brought up this childbearing agreement, did you ever consider my feelings?"

Michael felt an indescribable pain in his heart.

He understood her thoughts very well.

She simply wanted the child to be under her and the Wilson Family's name. As compensation, she would return all the Brown Group shares Aiden had given her.

The price was that he, the biological father, would have no right to see the child.

The thought that her first reaction upon learning of her pregnancy was to completely get rid of him left Michael at a loss for words to express his despair.

"What do you take me for, a tool to help you have a child? Or in your eyes, am I someone who would trade my child for family shares? Isabella, how can you be so heartless!"

Michael's voice suddenly became hoarse, and Isabella thought he was just angry.

She didn't realize he was struggling to control his emotions.

But she had to make things clear to him today. Otherwise, endless entanglement with him would be the greatest harm to both of them.

"Michael, we both know this child is for my grandfather's illness. I appreciate you making a promise to him and playing along, but that doesn't mean our problems have disappeared."

Isabella continued, "Our marriage has been worn out over the past three years. There's no going back. With this child, my grandfather will be fine, so it's time to end things between us."

"How do you want to end our relationship? Give me the shares, and then you take the child and leave me?"

Michael's emotions grew colder, and his voice lowered, tinged with self-mockery.

"Or do you want a piece of paper to completely sever my relationship with the child, so I won't interfere in your life, including any future partners you find?"

Isabella was shocked.

His keen insight stunned her.

But she still wanted to reason with him.

After all, they had reached this point, and there was no turning back.

"Actually, you can look at it from another perspective. Think about it, we were already heading for divorce. You give me a sperm, and I return 55% of the Brown Group shares to you. You don't lose out."

"Of course, these shares originally belong to the Brown Group. I won't hold onto them. The reason I'm proposing this agreement now is so that we and our families can part ways amicably. It's also to make up for what I owe you."

The last sentence was just to soothe Michael's emotions.

Her main goal was to get the agreement signed as soon as possible.

She no longer hoped for a future with Michael.

So, the child's custody became her greatest wish.

But she forgot that as much as she understood Michael, he understood her just as well.

Especially after meeting her a week after she disappeared.

He knew exactly what she was thinking.

"You don't need to explain so much to me, Isabella. You just want to leave me, right?"

When he asked this, his face was unusually calm.

Because the answer was written in her evasive eyes.

Isabella opened her mouth to argue but felt it was unnecessary at this point.

"Yes!"

Michael knew hearing the answer would hurt, but he still needed to hear it from her.

Otherwise, he couldn't give up.

Isabella pursed her lips. "If you have any resentment towards me, direct it at me, not the Wilson Family."

After all, the two families had business dealings, and she and Michael were destined not to be strangers.

But if she had to go against her own heart to please him, she couldn't do it.

"Fine."

Michael took a deep breath. She really didn't care about him at all. Even at this point, her mind was still on the Wilson Family and her company.

As a fellow family heir, he couldn't help but want to applaud her sense of responsibility.

He originally thought that with a child, she would consider the child's future and give him a chance.

He had even planned how to set up the child's future room.

But she couldn't bear even a single day.

She completely shattered his dream.

"I just want to know one thing."

"Go ahead."

"Are you so eager to separate from me, even at the risk of being discovered by Daniel, because of Nolan?"

Besides Nolan, he couldn't think of anyone else who could make Isabella act so impulsively.

Even though she was carrying his child, she was thinking about Nolan.

How could she be so heartless?

However, Isabella's answer dealt him another heavy blow.

"We've come this far. Is there any point in asking that?"

Isabella was speechless.

She didn't understand why Michael was always fixated on her relationship with Nolan. They had always been innocent.

The more she explained, the more Michael would believe she was lying.

It was better to let him misunderstand. As long as he agreed to sign, it would be a great help to her.
