Chapter 221

Stella was momentarily stunned. She had been so anxious earlier that she hadn't noticed the meaning behind Aiden's words.

Thinking back now, Aiden had warned her the moment she walked in.

"Dad, listen to yourself. No matter how bold I am, I wouldn't dare lay a hand on you."

Stella reacted quickly. Admitting fault and showing submission was one of her best skills.

No matter how arrogant her previous stance was, she could change her position without batting an eye in the next second.

"It's all my fault, Dad. It's reasonable for you to discipline Michael. Besides, you love Michael the most. You must have your reasons for hitting him. It's my fault for speaking without understanding the situation. Please don't hold it against me."

Aiden snorted coldly, not saying a word.

He let Felix help him to the sofa, his eyes coldly staring at the unrepentant Michael.

Michael had been raised by his side since childhood. Aiden knew Michael's temperament and character better than anyone.

Michael never easily changed his mind once he decided on something.

And this woman named Violet looked so much like Bianca. He was afraid Michael would do something foolish and push Isabella away.

By then, their marriage would truly be beyond repair.

Seeing this, Stella quickly pulled Michael over to apologize to Aiden.

"Michael, did you make your Grandpa angry again? Apologize and say you won't go against his words anymore."

But even at this point, Michael still refused to back down.

"Mom, don't worry about this. If Grandpa wants to hit me, let him."

Michael said this with his head down. His back hurt so much that he couldn't straighten up.

His head was getting heavier, and he was on the verge of passing out.

At that moment, Violet suddenly stepped forward and supported him, reaching out to touch his forehead in front of Stella and Aiden.

"He's burning up! Mr. Aiden Brown, Michael has a fever."

Violet said in a panic, her eyes filled with concern.

Hearing that Michael had a fever, Stella was terrified and quickly ordered the servants, "Someone, call the doctor, quickly!"

Michael was her only son. If anything happened to him, her luxurious future would disappear.

The family doctor arrived quickly, but Michael insisted on staying put, his eyes dimly looking at Aiden.

Michael's stubborn and unyielding look was just like Aiden's when he was young.

Stella couldn't take it anymore and almost knelt before Aiden. "Dad, I know Michael made you angry, but he's covered in injuries. If we don't let the doctor see him, what if his condition worsens?"

"If you want to discipline him, wait until he's healed. I won't stop you from hitting or scolding him."

"Mr. Aiden Brown, Mrs. Stella Brown is right. Michael's injuries are too severe. If he doesn't get treated, the wounds could get infected."

Violet chimed in, trying to show herself in front of Stella.

Aiden's head felt like it was going to explode from their noise, but Michael was his grandson. How could he not care?

He had already hit him, and now that Michael was so injured, there was no rush to settle accounts.

He waved his hand helplessly, letting Felix help Michael upstairs while he sighed and returned to his room.

On the second floor, in the master bedroom.

The doctor applied medicine to Michael and gave him fever-reducing medication before quickly packing up and leaving.

Stella stayed by Michael's bedside, occasionally wiping away tears as she looked at the now much thinner Michael.

"Michael, are you still not going to tell me the truth?"

"Your Grandpa has always loved and spoiled you. What did you do to make him so angry and be so ruthless?"

Stella wasn't clueless.

From the moment she saw Violet, she had a rough idea, but she couldn't believe Michael would be so foolish as to do something like this while Isabella was pregnant.

After all, Bianca had been by his side for years, and he never seemed to care much about her, only showing superficial concern.

Michael's head was spinning, and his back, now medicated, was burning with pain.

He lay on the bed, feeling weak. "Mom, don't ask. Even if you ask, I can't say."

He couldn't possibly say that Aiden had caught him in bed with Violet, with Isabella and the Wilson family witnessing it. Even if he wanted to explain, he wouldn't know where to start.

At this point, even if he said a hundred times that it had nothing to do with Violet, no one would believe him.

Hearing Michael say this, Stella had a clearer understanding.

No matter what he did, Michael was still her son.

All she could do was stand by his side and help him come up with a plan.

"If you don't want to say, fine. But how do you plan to get through this with your Grandpa?"

Michael frowned. "What do you mean?"

Stella sighed helplessly. "You're really foolish. Making mistakes is nothing. What's important is how you act in front of Aiden to maintain his affection for you."

As soon as she said this, Michael understood Stella's intentions.

His eyes darkened, and he didn't want to deal with her anymore.

But Stella was caught up in her own set of life principles, unable to extricate herself.

"Let me tell you, even though you're now the CEO of the Brown Group, as long as your Grandpa is around, the Brown family's assets are still firmly in his hands. He's so shrewd. If he does something in his will, won't we be the ones to suffer?"

"You're a grown man. How can you not see the bigger picture? Your Grandpa's health is declining day by day. Why are you getting into fights with him? Think of a way to make him happy tomorrow. You can't let this affect your position as CEO of the Brown Group!"

The more Michael listened, the colder his heart became. "Mom, is that all you're worried about?"

He was in this state, and all she cared about was power and status, not how badly he was hurt or how much pain he was in?

She didn't even care what mistake he had made.

Stella was taken aback, then said, "Of course, it's not just that. I haven't even scolded you yet. Are you out of your mind? You usually seem so smart, but at this critical moment, you don't know how to endure!"

"Isabella's pregnancy made Aiden so happy. He almost treated her like a treasure. And you, instead of behaving well in front of him, you went out and got entangled with Violet. Aren't you afraid the Wilson family will come after you?"

These statements were pure slander for Michael.

Especially since these thoughts came from Stella's mouth, he couldn't imagine what outsiders thought of him.

He found it ironic to even argue.

"Mom, just leave!"

Michael coldly interrupted her questioning. He didn't want to hear another word from her.
