Chapter 231

Isabella finally felt relieved, and her gaze involuntarily fell on Nolan's face, which bore an uncanny resemblance to Michael's.

She knew that the person she had always loved was Michael.

But the gentleness and elegance that Nolan exuded made her feel a sense of wonder, as if she were seeing an impossible side of Michael.

Even though their appearances were about 70-80% similar, their temperaments and personalities were vastly different.

Realizing that she was once again subconsciously comparing Nolan's face to Michael's, Isabella quickly averted her gaze and pulled her thoughts back.

They chatted for a bit, and soon the desserts and drinks they ordered were brought to the table.

In addition to the strawberry cake Isabella ordered for herself, Nolan also got her a cheesecake and a fruit platter.

Isabella had been craving sweets these past few days, and seeing so many delicious treats in front of her, she didn't hesitate at all and started eating with big bites.

She didn't care about her image at all, after all, Nolan was like family to her.

But what Isabella didn't know was that in Nolan's eyes, her way of eating cake was as joyful as a little squirrel in the forest.

Her cute and satisfied look made it hard for him to look away.

Nolan couldn't help but smile, his eyes filled with indulgence and tenderness.

He thoughtfully moved the fruit closer to her, to make sure she wouldn't miss any one of it.

When Isabella finally paused, Nolan began to chat with her again.

"Isabella, have you thought about how you want to plan your future life after having the baby?"

The word "future" sounded distant, but Nolan still wanted to know if Michael was part of her future plans.

He knew all too well how deep and heavy Isabella's feelings for Michael were.

Even though she was determined to divorce Michael now, as long as they weren't divorced, he couldn't be completely at ease.

"The future?" Isabella thought for a moment, "I have thought about it, but for now, my main focus is on the pregnancy. I'll make plans after the baby is born."

"But one thing is certain, this child will only be mine in the future, and will have nothing to do with Michael."

In the past, there was Bianca between them, and now there was Violet.

Even if she were foolish, she would have figured out where the problem lay.

It wasn't that she wasn't good enough, it was that Michael never loved her.

No matter how much she gave, it would only be a burden to him. It was better to let go and set them both free.

If it weren't for Daniel's condition being too fragile for any shock, she would have divorced Michael long ago.

Nolan secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

So, Isabella and Michael really couldn't reconcile.

That was great.

Only if they truly reached the point of divorce could he take that step and fulfill a dream he had for many years.

"But Isabella, a child should not have just one parent, receiving only maternal love at birth while lacking paternal love."

"We both suffered from this when we were young. If the child is asked why he doesn't have a father, he will feel hurt. We both know that feeling, you should understand."

Because Nolan's mother passed away early, he was not valued by his family, and his father was never home, never giving him even the slightest bit of care.

Isabella had experienced Grace's death and Harper's bullying, both having childhoods where they were not valued.

But Isabella was lucky.

She was taken back to the Wilson Family by Daniel, and for so many years, Daniel and her uncles treated her like a little princess, loved her, and filled the void in her heart.

Nolan, on the other hand, lived in that environment for over a decade before finally making it through.

But no matter what, an unhappy childhood affected a person's entire life.

Isabella thought of her past after hearing Nolan's words.

Nolan was right.

She didn't grow up in a complete family and couldn't let her child go through the same pain.

But who should she resort to?

Suddenly, Isabella seemed to realize something and looked at Nolan with a helpless expression.

"Nolan, are you trying to persuade me to reconcile with Michael again?"

She couldn't understand why Nolan was so supportive of her and Michael.

Before returning to the country, he was unconditionally on her side.

But after having this child, Nolan had completely changed.

To let go of Michael, she had made a huge effort and decision.

She would never go back.

"Isabella, you misunderstood. I'm not trying to persuade you to reconcile."

Nolan quickly explained, "What I mean is, a child needs a father figure. It doesn't matter if he's not the biological father, as long as he can be there for the child as he grows up."

Isabella understood.

Nolan was suggesting that she find a man to marry and create a new family for the child before the baby was born.

She sighed, "But Nolan, my relationship with Michael isn't completely over yet, and I don't have that thought for now."

She was already exhausted dealing with the Brown Family and Daniel, and there was still Michael causing trouble outside.

If she secretly found a "dad" for the future child, Daniel would break her legs if he found out.

Moreover, she was still responsible for finding girlfriends for her uncles, and there had been no progress for days.

She was worried sick.

How could she have the energy to find herself a "new husband"?

Meanwhile, Michael in a long coat and a baseball cap had somehow taken a seat behind them.

He leaned in and listened to their conversation clearly.

When he heard Nolan suggesting that Isabella start a new relationship, Michael's face instantly darkened.

Nolan! What was he up to?

Luckily, he had overheard Isabella's phone call yesterday and remembered this place, following her here and sitting in a corner in advance.

He thought Isabella would choose a private room to talk with Nolan, but she chose to sit outside, right in front of him.

With their backs to each other, he heard every word she said.

Including her unreservedly sharing her future plans with Nolan.

If he hadn't come, who knew how far their conversation would have gone.

He was her real husband, after all.

What did she mean by saying the child would have nothing to do with him in the future? He had only signed the agreement to make her feel secure and take care of her pregnancy.

But she turned around and kicked him out of her life.

She was even thinking of finding another "dad" for the child. He was the biological father, and that paternal love was irreplaceable.
