Chapter 256
At the moment Isabella turned away, Nolan could no longer suppress his emotions and desires.
His hands tightly gripped the armrests of his wheelchair.
He admitted that he had deliberately taken the opportunity to hold Isabella's hand, but he never expected her to unconsciously lean towards him.
Just a little closer, and he could have kissed her.
Yes, he liked Isabella.
He had deeply loved her for a long time.
Because of her presence, his world had a bit more light and was no longer lifeless.
She was the only one who would unreservedly show him kindness and care, listen to every word he said, and respond.
She was unique in his heart.
No one could replace her.
But he was too cowardly, afraid that if he confessed his love, she would reject him and even completely distance herself from him.
So he buried his feelings deep in his heart, but later she fell hopelessly in love with Michael and married him.
And he forever lost the chance to be with her.
He thought he would never be with her in this lifetime, so he gave up the idea of returning to the country, thinking he would just silently protect her and watch her be happy.
But her divorce call reignited his desire to win her back.
Why did Michael get to have her and then not cherish her, making her suffer so much?
Why?
This time, he was determined to win her back.
Halfway through the lemon water, Isabella still hadn't returned, and Nolan couldn't help but worry.
Although he hadn't shown any discomfort during their intimate moment earlier, Isabella had visibly panicked.
He worried that if she realized his feelings, she might not be able to accept them and would avoid him.
Thinking of this, he suddenly felt anxious.
He needed to go check if she was cool with it.
So when he suggested walking around the house, Cinda didn't stop him.
He nodded and left the balcony.
Meanwhile, hiding in the bathroom, Isabella had just convinced herself that she was overthinking and was about to open the door when her phone rang in her coat pocket.
Seeing the number, Isabella quickly answered.
She asked the person on the other end, "How is it? Did you find Harper's location?"
Since returning from Glamour Oasis that day, Isabella had drawn a map of the place from memory and, fearing others wouldn't find it, had entrusted it to Shadow.
After a few days of no news, she thought they had encountered difficulties.
Unexpectedly, there was news today.
Shadow didn't disappoint and replied promptly, "Yes, we found it. I should have reported to you a couple of days ago, but we ran into some problems."
"What problems?"
Hearing they had found Harper, Isabella breathed a sigh of relief.
As expected, Shadow never failed to find someone.
Shadow explained over the phone, "I studied the map you gave me and found that the spaces didn't match up, and the layout was very clever. So I hacked into their internal system to figure out the corresponding locations."
"Where is Harper hiding?"
Isabella only cared about this.
"After my investigation, I found that the storage room at the end of the corridor has a large internal space with a hidden door. Harper is in a secret room behind this inconspicuous storage room."
"That's great."
She had been searching for Harper for so long, and he had finally been found.
Isabella didn't know how to thank Shadow enough.
"I owe you one for this. If you ever need anything, you can ask for my help. And really, thank you, Shadow."
"We're friends. You don't have to be so serious."
Shadow playfully suggested, "How about you agree to meet me in person? That's my only wish, Isabella."
"That's not happening!" Isabella decisively refused, "But I still want to thank you. Only you could have found Harper hidden in a storage room's secret room. My people would never have thought of such a place."
Otherwise, she wouldn't have gone to him first after drawing the map instead of letting her own people try.
She had to admit, the Wilson Family's bodyguards needed to improve their skills.
Being praised twice by Isabella, Shadow couldn't help but smile broadly.
"Don't say that. Harper hid too well. Who would have thought they would build a secret room and connect several doors just to hide one person? Even if you entered the storage room, you wouldn't notice anything unusual."
"So, it's not that your people are incompetent, but she is too meticulous."
Isabella understood that Shadow was indirectly praising his own skills.
She smiled and shook her head.
Shadow was still the same, loving to show off and be praised.
"In the end, without you, I wouldn't have found this person. Consider this a debt I owe you, and I'll repay it when I get the chance. I have a guest now, so I gotta go."
Thinking of Nolan waiting outside, Isabella quickly ended the call with Shadow.
Just as she was about to open the door, it opened by itself!
Isabella was startled.
She clearly remembered closing the door, so how did it open by itself?
Maybe she hadn't closed it properly.
Oh well, it was her own home, and no one would come in anyway.
Isabella didn't think much of it and walked out of the bathroom towards the balcony.
But Nolan was no longer on the balcony.
Even the cup of water and fruit plate in front of Nolan had been taken away.
The table was empty.
Isabella turned to Cinda and asked, "Cinda, where's Nolan? Where did he go?"
Cinda was washing something in the kitchen and quickly came over when she heard Isabella's call.
"Ms. Taylor, Mr. Brown has left. He said he had something urgent at school. I didn't dare to disturb you, so I didn't tell you. It's my fault; I should have informed you."
Cinda felt very regretful for not informing Isabella earlier.
These days, not many people came to talk to Isabella, and now that Nolan had come, he left early, leaving Isabella without a proper goodbye.
It was indeed a bit rude.
Seeing Cinda feeling guilty, Isabella felt helpless.
"Cinda, what are you saying? Nolan and I have been friends for years; we don't care about such things. I was just curious why he left suddenly, not blaming you."
She couldn't possibly blame Cinda for such a small matter.
"I'll call Nolan later. It's no big deal, don't worry about it. There's no need for formalities with me."
