Chapter 261

Violet couldn't stand this kind of treatment and immediately accused Aaron angrily.

"Aaron, don't you understand what I'm saying? I told you to squat down and clean it up, not to ask someone else to do it! You're an assistant, and you're paid to do these things, aren't you?"

Aaron calmly explained, "Ms. Cooper, I think you have misunderstood my duties. My job is to convey Mr. Brown's daily instructions and ensure they are carried out step by step."

"Now that there's a hygiene issue in Mr. Brown's office, and the company has dedicated cleaning staff, where did I go wrong by asking them to come over?"

Aaron even looked "innocent."

He was Michael's chief assistant, not an intern doing these chores.

Oh, he almost forgot, the Violet in front of him was the real intern.

But Violet had transformed into Michael's "favorite."

"Where did you go wrong? It's wrong for you to talk back to me!"

Violet was furious and decided to drop the pretense. She pointed at the water stains on the floor and ordered, "No one else can do it today. I want you to clean it up. Do you understand?"

Even with Aaron's good temper, he couldn't help but show a dark expression at Violet's commanding tone.

In the company, no one dared to speak to him like this except Michael.

Even Isabella wouldn't trouble him with such trivial matters.

Now, comparing the two, it was clear who was more suitable to be Michael's wife.

He didn't understand what Michael saw in Bianca back then. She was full of schemes and couldn't compare to Isabella.

Seeing Aaron standing still, Violet brought up Michael, "Aaron, what if it was Mr. Brown giving you the order now? Wouldn't you squat down and clean it up? Why is it different when I say it?"

"If you don't do as I say now, I'll tell Michael everything about how you picked on me when he wakes up. Who do you think he'll side with?"

At some point, the previously closed door of the lounge suddenly opened.

A deep, hoarse male voice sounded behind them. "You picked on my assistant and expect me to side with you? Where do you get the nerve!"

Violet and Aaron turned around simultaneously to see Michael standing by the door with a dark expression.

Michael had been woken up by the noise when Violet dropped the cup.

But his head hurt too much, and hearing Aaron outside, he didn't get up. Who knew Violet would go too far, taking advantage of his "special" treatment of her to boss Aaron around.

She even wanted Aaron to be her servant?

The noise made his headache worse, and he couldn't stand it anymore. He got up and opened the door, only to hear Violet threatening Aaron.

He had been too good to her! That was why she dared to act so wilfully.

Seeing this, Aaron wisely lowered his head and remained silent.

Violet, however, was frightened by Michael's question and turned pale.

Realizing that Michael had heard everything she said, she quickly tried to calm him down, ignoring Aaron beside her.

She lowered her stance and acted coquettishly, "Michael, it's my fault for not knowing you were awake and disturbing you. You don't look well. Why don't you rest a bit more?"

Hearing this, Michael's expression darkened further.

"You think I can rest with all this noise? This is an office, not a market!"

Last night, after leaving Nolan's place, he didn't feel like returning to the marital home he shared with Isabella, so he came back to the office.

Every time he closed his eyes, he saw Isabella demanding a divorce, making it hard for him to sleep.

He finally fell asleep in the early morning, only to be woken up by their noise.

Hearing this, Aaron dared not speak.

Violet, however, saw an opportunity and tugged at Michael's clothes, apologizing softly.

"It's all my fault. I didn't know I would disturb your sleep. How about I accompany you back to the lounge to rest a bit more?"

She wanted to show Aaron her high status with Michael.

But today, for the first time, Michael was not kind to her, "With all this noise, how can I sleep?"

He pushed her hand away, walked to the sofa, and sat down, coldly sweeping his gaze over the two standing in front of him.

"Tell me, what were you arguing about?"

He didn't want to deal with these trivial matters but needed to stop Violet from thinking she could enter his lounge.

This was the office. If she succeeded, how could he explain it to Isabella?

Hearing Michael's question, Violet instinctively glanced at Aaron. Remembering Michael's anger when he opened the door, she decided to speak first.

Even if Aaron wanted to blame her, would Michael believe him?

Of course, it would be even better if Michael fired him.

Thinking this, she quickly walked to the sofa, her eyes red as she looked at Michael, "Michael, it's not what you think. I was just worried about you and wanted to bring you some water, but Aaron insisted on stopping me."

Michael raised an eyebrow and asked, "And then you threw the cup at him?"

Although he hadn't come out, he could hear the conversation outside.

"No, I didn't throw the cup. It accidentally fell."

Violet bit her lip, looking like she was about to cry, afraid Michael would misunderstand, and explained through sobs.

"Michael, I know it's my fault. Please don't be mad at me. It's all my fault. I wanted to bring you water but couldn't even hold the cup properly and woke you up."

As she spoke, tears fell from Violet's eyes.

With her pitiful appearance, what man wouldn't be moved?

Unfortunately, the only people in the office were Michael and Aaron, who already knew Violet's true nature.

They were tired of her tricks.

If she wasn't still useful, Michael would have kicked her out long ago.

"It's just a cup, and you two managed to argue over it. It's ridiculous!"

Michael frowned and dismissed Violet, then looked at Aaron, who stood silently.

Aaron immediately responded, "Mr. Brown, you're right. I was wrong too. I shouldn't have spoken harshly to Ms. Cooper over such a small matter. Mr. Brown, I am willing to accept punishment."

"To show my apology to Ms. Cooper, I will buy an identical cup to replace it. Please forgive my oversight, Ms. Cooper. I will make sure to improve. Mr. Brown, what do you think?"

"Okay," Michael responded lightly.

No wonder the position of chief assistant was his. Over the years, Aaron understood him best.

But in front of Violet, Michael put on a show, "What do you think? Are you satisfied with this way of handling him?"
