Chapter 325
From the moment the Adri Family sent assassins after her, Renee knew she had to make a decision.
She could face death, but she couldn't drag innocent people into this chaos.
She couldn't handle the burden of this relationship, and she couldn't let Aaron risk his life for her.
"No way!"
Aaron gripped her hand tightly, his eyes filled with determination as he looked at Renee. "I'm not letting you go like this. I love you. It's not some fleeting feeling. I want you by my side for the rest of my life, just you."
"Renee, I know you're mad at me. I can't even forgive myself for leaving you. When I found out you were hurt, you have no idea how terrified I was."
"Now that I'm back, even if you hit me or scream at me, I'm not letting you go."
Aaron's heartfelt words almost made Renee falter.
But when she looked at her legs and the scars on her body, she steeled herself and pulled her hand away from his.
She forced herself to push Aaron away.
"Aaron, it's too late. When I was in danger and called you, you weren't there. If Isabella hadn't saved me, I would've died on the street."
Renee closed her eyes. "I met you today to tell you that it's impossible between us. We're from different worlds. Instead of suffering later, it's better to part ways now. This way, it's better for both of us. I've said everything I needed to. You should go."
Renee unceremoniously asked Aaron to leave.
But Aaron shook his head, refusing to believe it. "Renee, please give me another chance. I know I messed up. I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to you, okay?"
"I don't need you to make it up to me. I don't want you by my side. Just leave!"
Renee bit her lip, turned her body away, and pointed towards the door.
She had made up her mind. No matter how much Aaron begged, she wouldn't soften.
Love was something to yearn for, but right now, even living was a luxury for her. What right did she have to talk about love?
"Renee, do you really not have any feelings for me at all?" Aaron stood up with a bitter smile. "Or do you think I, Aaron, have no sense of responsibility in your heart? I love you, and I will always consider your future. But you only think about pushing me away."
"I won't give up. No matter what happens, I'll stand by your side. You can always trust me."
"I'll come back!"
With that, he gave her a deep look and walked towards the door.
But the next second, there was a thud on the soft carpet.
Aaron collapsed straight to the ground.
Renee, with her back to him, didn't know what had happened. Hearing the sound, she turned around and saw the scene before her.
She was immediately frightened and cried out.
"Aaron! What's wrong with you? Don't scare me."
Renee instinctively wanted to help him up, but her legs couldn't support her. In her haste, she fell out of her wheelchair.
Ignoring the pain, she crawled on the floor and shouted outside, "Isabella, Mr. Wilson, someone, help!"
"Renee!" Isabella, worried that the two might argue and hurt Renee, had been waiting in the hall. She didn't expect Renee to be the one calling for help.
When she pushed open the door, she saw Aaron unconscious on the floor and Renee beside him.
Both of them lying on the ground looked strange.
"What happened? How did you both end up on the floor?"
Isabella was puzzled.
She knew Renee would reject Aaron, but she didn't expect him to be so heartbroken that he'd pretend to be dead.
"Isabella, quick, call 911. Aaron suddenly fainted."
Renee couldn't care about anything else. She was only worried about Aaron's health.
"What?"
Isabella finally realized what was happening. Aaron had been standing outside for hours. Could he have caught a fever?
She had the servants help Renee back to bed. Isabella touched Aaron's forehead and immediately winced.
He was burning up.
How long had he been holding on, not saying anything despite such a high fever?
"What's wrong? Does he have a fever?" Renee asked anxiously.
"Yeah, and it's very serious. He needs to go to the hospital."
Isabella frowned.
The family doctor could treat him, but Aaron's condition seemed like a sudden high fever. It was safer to go to the hospital.
"Then I'm going too!"
Renee tried to get out of bed, but Isabella stopped her. "Don't be ridiculous. Your legs can't walk yet. If those people find out about you, it'll be like handing yourself over."
"Then what should we do?"
Isabella glanced at Aaron and gritted her teeth. "I'll go!"
"No!" Renee's face changed. "Isabella, you're one of their targets. Bianca failed last time. She must be waiting for another chance. And you're pregnant. You can't go!"
"It's fine. I have a dozen bodyguards with me. I'm just going to the hospital, not anywhere else."
"But..."
Renee tried to grab her, but Isabella patted her hand. "Enough. Now's not the time to waste. He's burning up!"
If they kept arguing, Aaron might really become brain-damaged from the fever.
That finally shut Renee up.
"Alright, I'll take care of him. I'll have him taken to the hospital now. If Grandpa asks, just make up an excuse."
Isabella called the bodyguards to take Aaron to the car.
She followed in another car with trusted bodyguards.
Snow was still falling outside. The cars moved slowly until they reached the main road and began to speed up.
At that moment, an inconspicuous black sedan merged into traffic, following Isabella's car.
As Isabella's car turned a corner, a group of motorcycles appeared out of nowhere, blocking the two cars.
Revving their engines, they surrounded the cars. Within minutes, the motorcycles disappeared.
And so did Isabella.
The bodyguards realized something was wrong, but it was too late.
They immediately called Atticus to report.
Their main duty was to protect Isabella. If she disappeared, they couldn't bear the consequences.
Isabella was the Wilson Family's cherished daughter, the wife of Michael, the CEO of the Brown Group.
If something happened to her, they couldn't afford the responsibility.
