Chapter 347
At that moment, her grandfather dreamed of the person he missed the most.
Her grandmother and mother were waiting for him there, so he wasn't afraid to leave, just worried about her.
If she kept bottling up her feelings and couldn't move on, it would be a disservice to her grandfather's teachings.
Isabella took a deep breath. Just like Olivia said, if it were her, would she blame her own family?
Not only would she not, but her uncles wouldn't either.
So, what she needed to do was find the real culprit, not waste time on regret.
The shadow in her heart slowly dissipated, but Isabella thought of something else.
She glanced at Olivia beside her and asked, a bit embarrassed, "Olivia, can I ask you something? What do you think of Atticus?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
Mentioning the cold and distant Atticus made Olivia panic, and she quickly changed the subject.
Isabella saw it clearly. When Atticus was mentioned, Olivia's face turned noticeably red.
She pressed on, "Not from a junior's perspective, but as a woman looking at a man!"
She had thought about Atticus and Olivia on the way here.
From their eyes, she could tell they had feelings for each other.
But they were both holding back, unable to let go.
What they were missing was the most important piece: communication.
Since they were keeping a safe distance, Isabella decided to play matchmaker.
What if it worked out?
With Isabella being so direct, Olivia couldn't sit still, her face turning bright red.
She didn't even dare to look in Isabella's direction.
She lowered her head, blushing, and stammered, "Isabella, why are you bringing this up all of a sudden? I told you there's nothing between us, don't overthink it."
"And besides, I promise you, Atticus and I could never be together. We're not the same kind of people, we're completely incompatible. So, let's not talk about this anymore."
Listening to Olivia's firm rejection, Isabella felt something was off. Olivia clearly had feelings for Atticus, so why was she making promises to her?
What did it have to do with her?
Isabella's eyes flashed, "Olivia, you don't think I'd oppose you being with Atticus, do you?"
Olivia was surprised, "You'd really be okay with the age difference between me and Atticus? But you didn't agree that before."
Isabella suddenly remembered Olivia had once mentioned she liked someone older, by more than a decade.
So, she was talking about Atticus!
She had thought Olivia was being scammed online, which was why she said that.
Isabella shook her head, clearing up the misunderstanding, "Olivia, not only would I not oppose you and Atticus, but I'd also support it. After all, there's nothing wrong with liking someone."
She glanced at Olivia's flushed face, "And you're my best friend. I'd be worried if you ended up with someone else, but if it's Atticus, I'd feel at ease."
After all, Atticus had a strong character and a sense of responsibility. If Olivia married him, she wouldn't have to worry about any nonsense.
With her best friend's support, Olivia felt a huge weight lift off her shoulders.
But her relationship with Atticus wasn't something that could be resolved with a few words.
He didn't like someone much younger, but if she didn't mind the age difference, why did he keep fixating on it?
Was he really concerned about the age difference, or was it just an excuse to reject her?
Olivia sighed, "Isabella, your support means a lot, but my feelings for him aren't something that can be easily explained."
"And right now, your main task is to take care of yourself and the baby. Don't worry about anything else, focus on your health."
Olivia pretended to be indifferent, "As for me and Atticus, let's not force it."
During this time, she had thought it through.
In a relationship, if only one person was always giving while the other kept avoiding, it wouldn't last.
She didn't want to be rejected again. That feeling was too painful.
Olivia's struggle and suppression were clear to Isabella.
They had known each other for so many years, how could she not understand what Olivia was thinking?
She was usually straightforward, but when it came to feelings, she was so cautious.
She must have been heartlessly rejected by Atticus after confessing.
And knowing Olivia, she wouldn't have confessed just once.
Both of them were equally stubborn.
And knowing Atticus's character, Isabella could imagine why he couldn't continue the relationship.
Besides their age and status, Atticus must have thought Olivia was just playing around.
If he agreed, it would feel like he was taking advantage of a younger person.
Or, he was afraid his age would waste her best years.
They both had their difficulties and were considering each other, which only pushed them further apart.
They had no chance of being together unless someone broke the ice.
"Olivia, I think if you still have feelings for Atticus, you should try again. Because I noticed, not only do you like him, but he also has feelings for you."
Isabella took a sip of milk, ready to tell Olivia about Atticus's expression she saw today.
Suddenly, a sharp pain hit her lower abdomen.
"Ah!"
The intense pain almost made her collapse, cold sweat breaking out on her forehead.
Isabella's vision went black, and she fell to the ground.
Olivia panicked, rushing to help Isabella, "Isabella, what's wrong? Where does it hurt?"
"The baby, Olivia, save the baby."
Isabella gritted her teeth to get the words out. She felt a terrible pain in her stomach, like someone was pulling her baby out.
It felt like she was being torn apart.
"The baby?"
Olivia's face turned pale with fear, and she shouted for help, "Someone, help!"
At that moment, Isabella's forehead broke out in veins, her hands clenched, and blood started flowing from under her dress.
Her vision darkened, and she lost consciousness.
Olivia kept shouting for help, but when she saw the blood flowing from Isabella, she was dumbfounded with fear.
Blood.
How could this be happening?
