Chapter 350

Holden knew Olivia, as Isabella's best friend, was just trying to help. But he had something urgent to tell Isabella and couldn't waste any time.

He turned to Olivia. "Hey, can you give us a minute? I need to talk to Isabella about something important."

Olivia saw the seriousness in his eyes and, though confused, nodded and stepped out.

Holden walked over to the bed, seeing Isabella's tear-streaked face. He gently took her hand and spoke softly.

"Isabella, I know you're awake. I need to tell you something urgent. It's about the baby."

Isabella's eyes snapped open, red and swollen from crying. She thought he was there to console her again.

"Holden, I can't talk about the baby right now. Please."

The baby was gone. She knew she'd have to come to terms with it eventually, but the pain was still too raw.

"Isabella, I'm not here to console you. I have some bad news."

Holden took a deep breath, looking into her eyes. "This is going to be tough to hear, but you need to promise me you won't get too upset, okay?"

Isabella had never seen him so hesitant. She felt a growing sense of dread but couldn't imagine what could be worse.

Her grandfather was gone, her baby was gone. What else could she lose?

"I'm okay. Just tell me."

Seeing her calm, Holden finally spoke. "I just found out there were some suspicious people at your grandfather's funeral. We think your miscarriage might have been caused by someone trying to hurt you, and that person could be connected to Bianca."

"Because of the chaos, Atticus and the others focused on you and the unfinished funeral, missing the evidence, which was then cleaned up."

"Uncle Holden, what can I do to help?" Isabella interrupted.

She knew Bianca's schemes better than anyone. Hearing that the baby's death might be linked to Bianca, her anger flared.

She had been too careless, thinking she was safe in the Wilson family home, only to fall victim to another of Bianca's plots.

Suddenly, Isabella remembered something.

"It was the milk!"

Before Holden could tell her the truth, she had already figured it out.

At the funeral, she had been too grief-stricken to eat. The only thing she had consumed was the glass of milk Olivia had given her.

"That's right," Holden said gravely. "The problem was with the milk. But all the evidence was cleaned up, and your blood tests showed nothing unusual. So the only thing we can check now is the residue in your stomach to see if we can find any clues."

This meant Isabella, already devastated by the loss of her baby, would have to undergo a deep stomach examination, which would be physically and emotionally taxing.

Isabella didn't hesitate. "Uncle Holden, I understand. Even if the examination might not find anything, I'm willing to try."

She would do anything to find the person responsible for her baby's death.

"Alright, let's get to the examination room."

Holden helped Isabella up, and they headed out. Olivia, waiting by the door, was taken aback.

"Isabella, Holden, where are you going? Isabella, you're still very weak. You shouldn't be getting out of bed."

She moved to support Isabella, but Isabella shook her head. "Olivia, I need to get a check-up right now. Holden will go with me. You stay here and wait for me."

"A check-up?"

Olivia was confused but, seeing Holden by her side, she still felt uneasy about Isabella going alone.

"If it's a check-up, I should go with you. It's not appropriate for him to be in the examination room."

Olivia assumed it was a gynecological exam and insisted on going along.

Not wanting to waste time, Isabella agreed and let Olivia accompany her.

They arrived at the examination room, and the doctors and nurses quickly understood Isabella's needs, starting a series of procedures immediately.

Soon, a long tube was inserted into Isabella's mouth.

Seeing Olivia's frightened expression, Isabella couldn't speak but squeezed Olivia's hand to reassure her.

Olivia didn't know what was happening, but seeing Isabella in such pain, she couldn't stop her tears.

Isabella was the beloved princess of the Wilson family. If it weren't for Michael, she wouldn't have to endure this suffering.

The examination was grueling, but fortunately, it yielded results.

The doctors found undigested milk in Isabella's stomach, which was immediately sent to the lab for testing.

Now, all Isabella and Holden could do was wait for the results.

When Isabella returned to her room, she looked even paler than before.

Olivia poured her a glass of water and carefully helped her drink a few sips before letting her lie back down, reminding her not to move around too much to avoid further health issues.

Afterward, Olivia went to check if Cinda, who was making soup at home, had arrived.

Thomas had also been called away by a phone call earlier.

Now, only Isabella and Holden were left in the room, and she had some questions for him.

"Uncle Holden, how did you find out so quickly that the person was sent by Bianca?"

Bianca had been trying to harm her and her baby for a long time, but this time she had dared to infiltrate the Wilson family and do it so discreetly.

Someone must be helping Bianca.

"It wasn't me. It was Renee. She told Atticus right away."

"You know how much Atticus cares about you. He wouldn't overlook any clues, especially since the baby was the future of the Wilson family. Even if the baby is gone, we can't let it be for nothing."

Hearing the truth, Isabella nodded.

"Holden, I won't let this go. Bianca dared to mess with the Wilson family. No matter what, I will avenge my baby."

Her baby couldn't have died in vain.

She had felt his presence during those three months of pregnancy. She had even prepared clothes and toys for him, but now he was gone.

She should have known. The baby had been fine until that sudden, intense pain.

Someone must have tampered with her.
