Chapter 353
"Olivia, let him in."
Hearing Isabella's voice, Olivia stepped aside, allowing Michael to enter.
Michael had rushed over from the Wilson family estate and now stood in front of Isabella, panting and looking anxious.
But when he saw Isabella's calm, emotionless eyes, he panicked. It was the fear of losing her at any moment.
He fought the urge to rush forward and hold her, taking a deep breath. "Isabella, I heard from Atticus..."
The word "child" stuck in Michael's throat, unable to come out.
"Yes, the child is gone."
Isabella took over his words, calmly stating the fact.
No matter how much she resented Michael, he was still the child's father.
Gone was gone. No amount of tears could bring the child back.
"Say whatever you want. This is the last time anyway."
Michael shook his head. He wasn't here to blame her.
"Isabella, that's not what I meant. I wanted to say, if you take care of yourself, we can still have another child."
"The child is gone, and that's that."
At this moment, no one could feel more heartbroken than a mother.
He was worried about her health.
As long as she was okay, nothing else mattered to him.
But seeing her now, all his courage vanished.
He knew better than anyone how much Isabella loved children and wanted a child of their own.
From the day they got married three years ago, Isabella had always talked about having a baby.
Even when he said the most hurtful things to her, she didn't care. She would even climb into his bed in the middle of the night just to get pregnant.
Later, Michael found out she did all this to fulfill her grandfather's wish.
But now her grandfather was dead. Would Isabella still want to have a child with him?
The answer was no.
Hearing Michael say "The child is gone, and that's that" so lightly, Isabella's lips curled into a cold smile.
How could he say something so heartless?
That was their child, their first child in three years of marriage!
Did he not care at all?
Right, that made sense. He never cared about her, let alone their child.
Isabella's gaze fell back on the test results in her hand. She handed them to Michael with a mocking tone.
"Michael, do you want to see how our child died?"
It turned out that once she let go, she could become just as heartless.
Before he arrived, she had endured the pain of a recent abortion to get a stomach extraction. The results were in her hand.
The report, which tested for various toxins, was over ten pages long.
But on the last page, she saw a shocking conclusion.
Her child's death wasn't an accident; someone had deliberately harmed her to make her lose the baby.
She now deeply regretted agreeing to let Bianca go at Indigo's request. If she had arrested Bianca then, her child wouldn't have died!
Her grandfather wouldn't have died from a sudden illness caused by her kidnapping.
Those were two lives.
She hated not only Bianca but also Michael.
If Michael hadn't repeatedly supported Bianca, how would she have dared to harm Isabella and the child?
If she could muster the strength, she would slap him hard and demand to know what he really wanted.
Michael took the report from the bed and started reading it page by page.
Olivia, worried that Isabella might lose control, stayed close by.
Isabella looked at her and said calmly, "Olivia, wait outside for a bit. I need to talk to him alone."
She had made up her mind at her grandfather's funeral, and now she couldn't wait another second.
She wanted everyone to pay.
She wanted Bianca to pay with her life for her child's death.
She wanted Michael to remember this moment forever, to feel double the pain she felt.
The quieter Isabella was, the more uneasy Olivia felt. "Isabella, I can't leave you alone."
Especially not alone with Michael.
Olivia had seen firsthand how deeply Isabella loved him.
Who knew if Michael would provoke Isabella?
She would rather Isabella cry her heart out and express her pain than keep it bottled up.
Besides, if she hadn't given Isabella that hot milk, none of this would have happened, and Isabella wouldn't have lost her child.
She already felt immense guilt. If anything else happened to Isabella, she would never forgive herself.
Isabella understood Olivia's concerns. She shook her head. "Olivia, I'm really fine. If you're worried, just wait outside."
"The Wilson family bodyguards are here. Michael won't dare do anything."
"Alright, but be careful. Call me if you need anything."
Olivia shot Michael a warning glance before stepping outside and carefully closing the door, giving Isabella and Michael some privacy.
Michael had reached the last page of the report. His expression darkened, and he crumpled the paper in his hands.
"Who did this? I'll kill them!"
Since learning about Isabella's situation, he had suspected someone was targeting her.
Now the evidence was clear.
Their child had been lost due to poisoning.
In Evergreen City, who would dare poison his child and harm his wife?
When he found out, he would make them pay dearly.
Hearing Michael's threat, Isabella sneered. "Michael, stop pretending. Don't you know who wanted to harm our child?"
The only person who wanted to harm her and the child was Bianca.
But Bianca alone couldn't have orchestrated this. There had to be a powerful force behind her.
So, she hated not only Bianca but also Michael.
She hated him for keeping Bianca around and for letting her repeatedly try to harm her.
If he had stopped her once, she wouldn't have lost the child.
"Michael, I've told you many times, there's no future for us. I don't care who you're with."
"But why do you have to torment me? If it weren't for you, Bianca wouldn't have had the chance to get close to me, and my child wouldn't have died!"
