Chapter 357
"Ethan, have you lost your mind?"
Just as Ethan was starting to second-guess himself, Michael shot him a look that could kill, like he wanted to strangle him.
Ethan had just asked a simple question, and Michael had the nerve to curse his sex life?
Michael was good at everything; how could he possibly have issues in the bedroom?
But ever since he and Isabella had been intimate, he hadn't been interested in any other woman.
If he couldn't win Isabella back, he might never want to have sex again.
"Come on, I was just joking. Don't take it so seriously!"
Ethan laughed it off, thinking Michael was just too embarrassed to admit it. He patted Michael on the shoulder.
"Seriously, I get it. We're all guys here. It's no big deal. I'll find a reputable clinic for you. They'll get you back on track, no problem."
Michael slapped his hand away.
"Who needs to get back on track? I told you, there's nothing wrong with me. Stop talking nonsense."
Who said he had issues? He was perfectly fine.
But Isabella was now demanding a divorce. She wouldn't even let him get close, let alone touch her.
Even if he had the energy, he had nowhere to release it.
Otherwise, he wouldn't be here drinking.
"Alright, I called you here to drink. If you keep talking about this, you can leave right now."
Michael irritably poured himself another drink.
"Come on, I drove here as fast as I could. I just sat down, and you're already kicking me out? That's not cool."
Ethan suddenly remembered something and smacked his forehead.
"If it's not about your sex life, then you and Isabella must have had another fight."
Michael didn't respond, but Ethan knew he was right.
The only person who could make Michael this upset and drive him to drink alone was Isabella.
And considering the news he heard today, it all made sense.
Ethan poured himself a drink, took a sip, and then spoke slowly. "I just heard this morning. Daniel, Isabella's grandfather, had his funeral today."
"She's just lost a family member and is carrying your child. It's normal for her to be upset. You should be more understanding."
Isabella was probably at her most vulnerable right now. Instead of being by her side, Michael was here drinking. They must have had another fight.
Isabella and Michael were always like this. They could never talk things out calmly; they had to argue all the time.
As soon as Ethan finished speaking, Michael fell silent.
After a long pause, he spoke in a hoarse voice, "Our child is gone."
Their marriage had always been on the brink of divorce. The only reason they hadn't signed the papers was because Isabella didn't want to worry her grandfather.
But their marriage problems were hard to hide, especially for such a long time.
Daniel was too sharp to be fooled.
So Isabella had kept them in this half-divorced state.
But now her grandfather was dead, and the child was gone too.
All the ways he had thought to keep Isabella were now useless. This time, he really had no options left.
"What did you say?"
Ethan's eyes widened, almost spilling his drink. "Are you serious? When did this happen?"
Michael lowered his head and said, "Today."
The cold look in Isabella's eyes at the hospital filled him with fear.
But more than that, he felt guilty towards her and their child.
One was the woman he loved, the other was the child he had eagerly awaited. How could he not be heartbroken?
"Have a drink with me, to remember my unborn child."
Michael clinked his glass with Ethan's and then downed his drink.
"Alright, if you want to."
Ethan hadn't realized Michael was carrying such a heavy burden.
Now he understood why Michael was drinking himself into oblivion.
As a friend, he couldn't leave Michael alone at a time like this.
After a few bottles, Ethan's mind was getting fuzzy.
He swayed with his drink and asked, "I haven't asked you yet. During that time you and Isabella were fighting, wasn't there a woman named Violet hanging around you? Where did she go?"
He remembered Michael being particularly fond of her.
Ethan had almost thought Violet would become the future Mrs. Brown.
Michael leaned back on the couch, his hand over his eyes, in the dark.
He sighed. "You actually know her, and quite well."
Ethan laughed sarcastically.
"You're kidding. I've only seen Violet a few times. How could I know her well? If you hadn't brought her around, I wouldn't even know who she was."
But Michael's next words almost made Ethan choke.
"She has another name: Bianca."
"Bianca?"
Ethan's eyes widened. He thought he must have misheard, but Michael's calm demeanor made him believe it.
But when he tried to recall Violet's face, something didn't add up.
"Wait, if she's really Bianca, how could she have two completely different faces? Did she get plastic surgery and come back with a new face?"
Bianca had been a well-known piano prodigy in Evergreen City. When she disappeared, the media had covered it extensively.
But that was only a few months ago. Even if Bianca had gone abroad for surgery, she couldn't have recovered so quickly.
It was too unbelievable!
"Michael, are you messing with me? I saw Violet on the yacht. Her face didn't show any signs of surgery, and in such a short time. Are you sure she's really Bianca?"
Michael gritted his teeth. "It's her, no doubt about it."
Even she had admitted it. He had no reason to doubt it anymore.
But as Ethan said, there was something off about Bianca's face.
How could she change her face so drastically in such a short time?
Could it be that the Adri Family had some advanced biotechnology?
Michael suddenly thought of someone.
Renee!
If what she said today was true, then she was a pawn in the Adri Family's pharmaceutical schemes.
Since she was in research, could Bianca's new face be her work?
