Chapter 371

Isabella fumed, her anger growing with every passing second. "Seriously, who do you think you are, trying to control me? What are you even doing here? Don't forget, the child wasn't just mine. He was yours too."

"If you had any guilt about our child, you wouldn't be fooling around with Bianca."

Just thinking about what she had seen earlier made Isabella's blood boil.

Their child had died because of Bianca.

And what had he done?

He was cozying up to Bianca right outside the bathroom.

So, what did their child and Isabella mean to him?

Every word Isabella spoke was like a dagger, piercing Michael's heart.

Did she really see him as someone so cold-blooded that he didn't even care about his own child?

He took a deep breath. "Believe it or not, things between Bianca and me aren't what you think. I'm here for work, not by choice."

For the first time, he had postponed work just to spend a little more time with her.

But he was only human. Being misunderstood by her over and over again, without her listening to his explanations, hurt him deeply.

But Isabella had long since lost any trust in him. And it was trust he had destroyed with his own hands.

"Work?"

She let out a cold laugh. "If your so-called work involves playing games with Bianca, then I guess my showing up interrupted your 'work,' didn't it?"

Isabella emphasized the word "work" with heavy sarcasm.

Why didn't he just say he and Bianca had coincidentally run into each other, and it was just a coincidence they were at the bathroom door together?

Isabella would never believe him!

If she hadn't accidentally walked in on them, Michael and Bianca would probably have been making out by now.

But this had nothing to do with her anymore.

She wasn't saying all this because she cared about Michael. She was just furious at his controlling attitude.

Why could he meet up with other women, but she couldn't even go out for a meal?

"Isabella, can you not talk like that? I really was..."

The word "work" was still stuck in his throat when Michael noticed Isabella suddenly looking past him, her eyes lighting up.

"Why are you here?"

The person who had come over was Emilio, the current vice president of the Wilson Group.

Emilio, tall and graceful, quickly walked to her side and stood next to Isabella, right in front of Michael, speaking gently.

"You didn't come back, and I was worried you might have trouble finding your way."

Isabella smiled warmly. "How could I? I'm not a child. I can find my way."

So much had happened recently. Atticus was tied up with Daniel's issues, leaving the company's burdens on Emilio's shoulders.

She had owed him a meal for a while, and now that she had some free time, she had invited him out to catch up.

It was her way of repaying him for his help.

To show her sincerity, she had reserved a table at Celestial Dining.

And to get out today, she had made countless promises to Cinda and Renee, finally securing two hours of freedom.

But as soon as she stepped out, she ran into two people she didn't want to see. One was Bianca, and the other was Michael.

And she had caught them in an intimate moment.

"You didn't lose your way; you ran into 'trouble,' didn't you?" Emilio winked at Isabella, and she immediately understood his meaning. With Emilio's help, she could quickly get rid of the "big trouble" that was Michael.

Seeing them so close, Michael's face turned dark.

Emilio again!

Why couldn't he just give up on Isabella?

Emilio wasn't afraid of him. He knew Isabella no longer cared about Michael. For his own future happiness, he had to fight for her.

With that in mind, he stood protectively in front of Isabella, facing Michael.

"Mr. Brown, you heard what Isabella said. She doesn't want anything to do with you anymore. Please, don't bother her again."

Emilio's tone was gentle, but his protective stance was assertive.

Isabella was free now.

She had the right to pursue her own happiness.

Michael's eyes darkened instantly.

Not to mention that he and Isabella weren't officially divorced yet. When did their conversations become something an outsider could interfere with?

Was Emilio challenging him?

But why didn't Isabella react at all to what Emilio said?

Could she really have feelings for Emilio?

Did she like Emilio?

First it was Nolan, and now Emilio. Was she really not willing to give Michael another chance?

Seeing them standing so close together, Michael felt a sharp pain in his heart.

In Isabella's mind, he had never been her first choice.

He clenched his fists tightly.

She was truly heartless. She had stopped loving him just like that.

Seeing the change in Michael's expression, Isabella decided to deliver the final blow.

She took Emilio's arm and looked up at him tenderly. "Emilio, let's go back. We've been out for a while, and the food must be ready. I'm starving."

She playfully swung Emilio's arm, just like she used to do with Michael when they were newlyweds, always acting like a spoiled little girl in front of him.

"I know you're hungry. I ordered all your favorites. Let's go."

Emilio affectionately patted her head and led her away from Michael.

From start to finish, Isabella didn't look at Michael again.

All her tenderness and affection were for Emilio.

Michael could see that Isabella was doing this on purpose, but even if she was acting, he had to grit his teeth and close his eyes tightly.

He couldn't bear to watch.

He was afraid he would lose control and beat Emilio half to death right in front of Isabella.

She was doing this on purpose.

She just wanted him to back off and accept their impending divorce.

As a proper ex-husband, how could he still have the right to stand in her way and stop her from moving on?

Inside the private room, Isabella and Emilio sat across from each other, having already put the earlier incident behind them.

They enjoyed the new dishes at Celestial Dining, and Emilio brought up recent events at the company and their childhood memories, quickly lifting Isabella's spirits.

Isabella smiled slightly.

"Emilio, thank you for earlier. I invited you out to thank you for your hard work lately, but you always just helped me out again. I really don't know how to thank you."

If Emilio hadn't stepped in earlier, she might have lost her composure in front of Michael.

She didn't want that to happen.

Since they were getting divorced, she just wanted to part ways amicably.
