Chapter 373
Michael lay helplessly on the couch.
The alcohol made his body warm, and he clumsily yanked off his tie. Just as he was about to take off his jacket, he felt something in his pocket.
He pulled it out and saw it was the little bear charm.
Ever since he found it at Moon Bay, he had kept it with him, afraid of losing it again.
He clutched it tightly in his hand, the cool touch bringing a moment of clarity to his mind.
Suddenly, he remembered something.
He had asked Bianca about the details of his rescue from the water many times.
She always answered accurately, matching his memories perfectly.
Because of this, he had concluded that Bianca was the girl who saved his life in the water.
But now, he had to question if there had been some misunderstanding.
The bear charm wasn't in Bianca's possession, and her evasive glances over the years suggested that she wasn't the one who saved him.
But why did Bianca know so much about his rescue?
There was only one possibility.
Bianca must have been there and witnessed the entire rescue. That would explain everything.
If Bianca saw the whole thing, she must know who saved him.
With this thought, Michael tightened his grip on the bear charm.
He had to find out who risked their life to save him.
And the most urgent thing now was to find Bianca!
Letting her slip away today didn't mean he would let her off. He had to settle the score for the child and for pretending to be his savior.
That night, Michael fell asleep there.
In his dreams, Isabella was with him, staying by his side, never leaving.
Until a piercing phone ring shattered his dream.
"Hello?" Michael picked up the phone, irritated, and heard the last voice he wanted to hear.
"Michael, I've been busy with My Dad's matters and haven't had time to address your and Isabella's situation. Now it's time to talk about it."
It was Isabella's uncle, Thomas.
Michael didn't need to guess the purpose of this call-it was about the divorce agreement.
Isabella had already found a new boyfriend. There was no way she would give her ex-husband another chance.
But Michael didn't want to divorce her.
He refused to sign the papers.
"Thomas, Isabella and I have just been apart for a few days. It's not what you think. Are there any misunderstandings?"
Michael played dumb, avoiding the topic of divorce.
Thomas, who had made a name for himself on Sterling Avenue with his brains and strength, wouldn't waste a second on someone like Michael.
"Mr. Brown, let me clarify. I'm speaking to you as Isabella's attorney. What you think is your business. I'm just doing my job."
"Isabella doesn't want any more entanglement with you, so she plans to file for divorce. My team will handle everything."
"The divorce agreement and specific dates have been sent to your office. If you have any questions, contact my firm's lawyers. Don't miss the deadline."
Without giving Michael a chance to respond, Thomas hung up.
He wished Michael would disappear from Isabella's life forever.
If he wasn't worried about Isabella getting hurt, he wouldn't have wasted so much time talking to Michael.
Receiving Thomas's call first thing in the morning, Michael was really on edge.
As he expected, Isabella had accepted Emilio's proposal and was eager to sever ties with Michael.
She didn't even want to meet to discuss it, opting for a quick divorce through the court.
She made her intentions clear.
She couldn't wait to divorce Michael to give Emilio a proper status.
Her love was blatant and unreserved.
But what could he do to stop the divorce?
Michael was on the verge of losing it.
Meanwhile, at the Wilson Family home.
Isabella had just come downstairs and saw Thomas, who had just finished a call, looking furious.
He stood by the window, his face cold, radiating anger.
"Uncle Thomas, what's wrong? Who called to make you so mad?"
Isabella asked worriedly, walking over to sit beside him.
Seeing Isabella, Thomas's expression softened, and he awkwardly explained, "A new assistant at the company, clumsy and annoying."
An assistant?
Isabella had heard about this assistant.
But how long had it been, and the assistant still hadn't adapted?
Considering Thomas's strict work standards and his company's high efficiency, how could he tolerate an incompetent assistant for so long?
Isabella's mind wandered to some inappropriate thoughts. Though Thomas was only a few years older than her, he was almost thirty.
He had never had a girlfriend, so she couldn't help but wonder.
"Uncle Thomas, I have a question. Don't get mad, okay?"
"I'm not that petty. Ask away."
Thomas smiled and tapped Isabella's forehead.
"Is your clumsy assistant a man or a woman?"
Isabella's tone was suggestive.
She wasn't prying into Thomas's private life, but she was curious about the assistant who had managed to stay by his side for so long.
Thomas didn't think along those lines, worried Isabella might guess who he had called.
He made up an excuse.
"It doesn't matter. I'm personally training that person. If there's no improvement after the probation period, there's no reason to keep them."
Though he said this, Isabella sensed something was off.
Could it be as she suspected?
Had Thomas finally met his Mrs. Right?
She didn't know if the person was male or female, but it didn't matter. As long as Thomas was happy, she would understand and respect it.
Compared to the peaceful atmosphere at the Wilson Family, Bianca, who had rushed back to her villa, was in a foul mood.
She had finally run into Michael, but before she could use her charm to make him submit, Isabella had interrupted.
To make matters worse, she woke up to find that her boss had booked her a flight for four days later.
He didn't care if she wanted to leave or not. His word was final.
With less time left, Bianca had to act quickly.
