Chapter 38
Some things might be worth scrutinizing, but Isabella didn't care at all.
What she truly didn't believe in was Harper and Bianca, for they were so hypocritical.
And they didn't even consider what level of hotel The Grand Majestic Hotel was, how complex the forces behind it were. Even if someone wanted to harm others, it wouldn't be possible to stage a kidnapping right at the hotel entrance.
Wouldn't that make the hotel a joke?
And then they ran into the police halfway and got rescued. Do they really think everyone was brainless?
But Michael took it seriously.
Michael's face turned cold, but he finally let go of Isabella's hand. "I'll go check on her. Stay home and don't wander around. Wait for me to come back."
Isabella looked at him, "Michael, do you really have to go? What if I ask you to stay?"
"Isabella, don't be unreasonable. Bianca is not that kind of person." Michael's tone already had a hint of impatience.
Love or not, it was so obvious.
Isabella's eyes turned completely cold as she got her answer, a self-mocking smile tugging at the corner of her mouth.
She was foolish to keep trying to verify something with him, only to end up hurting herself every time.
She brought it upon herself.
The sound of a car engine came from outside, and the whole house fell silent again.
Isabella took out her phone and called her friend Olivia.
"Isabella, what's up?" It was a bit noisy on Olivia's end, and she raised her voice to ask.
Isabella's voice was calm, "Are you free? Join me for a drink, let's celebrate."
"Celebrate?" Olivia lowered her voice, walked to a quiet place, closed the door, and asked with a smile, "Did you win the lottery or get a new man?"
"Today, Bianca slit her wrists and ended up in the hospital. Isn't that worth celebrating?" Isabella said it with great satisfaction.
"Really? Such good news, we definitely need to have a few drinks. Where are you? I'll come get you now. I know a great place. Let's have a blast tonight." Olivia's eyes lit up when she heard the news.
She had been meaning to talk to Isabella about this, but Isabella called her first.
Olivia arrived quickly, and Isabella had already changed into casual clothes and was waiting downstairs.
Seeing Olivia step out of the car in a tight white racing suit, Isabella was stunned.
She thought Olivia had just come from some cosplay event. "Weren't we going to a bar? You're wearing that?"
Olivia excitedly spun around to show off her new outfit to Isabella, "I forgot to tell you, my favorite racer Ivan Franklin has a race tonight at Sunset Ridge Highway. I got the best seats, just waiting to meet Ivan face-to-face."
Isabella was surprised again.
Although Olivia had been in the entertainment industry for a few years, with her family's protection, she had never faced any pressure or been subjected to any unspoken rules.
So, at twenty-two, Olivia had never had a real relationship.
All these years, she had only liked characters from games and anime.
No real person had ever entered her life.
Isabella felt both gratified and emotional, "You've grown up. In the blink of an eye, you're old enough to date."
"Come on, don't make me sound so childish. I'll be twenty-three after this birthday. If I don't start dating now, there must be something wrong with me." Olivia said.
Isabella couldn't help but laugh, "I didn't say you couldn't date. You should go for Ivan and make him your boyfriend."
"That's impossible. Besides, I just want to race him tonight. I don't dare think about anything else." Mentioning Ivan made Olivia shy.
The two chatted as they got into the car and headed to Sunset Ridge Highway.
Meanwhile, Michael arrived at the hospital.
From the phone call, he thought Bianca was seriously injured. He had to harden his heart to leave Isabella at home.
But it turned out Bianca's hand was only slightly scratched. It wasn't even a wrist-slitting; a paper cut would have been worse.
Michael didn't say anything, but his expression wasn't good.
After comforting Bianca, Michael planned to leave, but Bianca clung to him, refusing to let go, her emotions extremely unstable.
Thinking of Isabella waiting at home, Michael recalled her last calm question, "Can you stay?"
For the first time, he felt a sense of reluctance.
He wanted to call her to ask what she was doing, but at that moment, Bianca suddenly fainted.
Isabella only found out after arriving that Olivia had not only prepared a cool racing suit for herself but also one for Isabella.
She even had a motorcycle ready.
"Why do I feel like you set me up, just waiting for me to fall into your trap?" Isabella clearly told Olivia they were going for a drink.
But she ended up being brought to a racing event by Olivia.
And Olivia had even prepared clothes and a bike in advance.
"It's just a coincidence." Olivia quickly diverted Isabella's attention, "Besides, who says celebrating at night can only involve drinking? Racing is so thrilling. The excitement of winning is even better than drinking."
Isabella stared at her without saying a word.
Olivia pouted and clung to Isabella's arm, gently shaking it. "Isabella, I really didn't trick you. I've been chasing Ivan for a long time. I really like him. Can you help me this time?"
"Tell me what do you want me to do first." Isabella asked.
Olivia bit her lip and explained everything.
It turned out that Olivia had been watching a racing event with friends recently and was captivated by a racer.
After some inquiries, she found out the first-place winner was Ivan, a college student.
But Ivan was quite aloof, not liking to go out or participate in any activities, only interested in racing.
So, Olivia thought of Isabella.
Back in the east Valoria, Isabella was the strongest racer in the circle.
No one dared to race three laps with her.
So, Olivia spread the word that the racing goddess from the east Valoria would be participating in a race and even sent Ivan a challenge letter.
She was thinking about how to contact Isabella when Isabella called her first.
So, Olivia directly brought Isabella to the racing event.
She said, "Isabella, I'm not lying. Ivan is really handsome on the track, absolutely mesmerizing."
Whenever he appeared, everyone else faded into the background.
Mentioning Ivan made Olivia look completely smitten.
"Alright, Ivan isn't here yet. Wipe your drool. Since we're here, let's just have some fun." Isabella was in a bad mood, and a night breeze might do her good.
