Chapter 388

The bodyguard trailing behind couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Brown, after everything Bianca did to you, you're just gonna let her go?"

With the Adri Family's protection, trying to capture Bianca again would be nearly impossible. Even a bodyguard like him could see that. How couldn't Michael know that?

As the plane slowly took off, Michael withdrew his gaze and said in a deep voice, "Letting her go doesn't mean letting her off the hook. Things aren't over yet. The more impatient we are, the more likely we are to lose everything."

Although he knew Bianca was responsible for his child's death, he lacked the crucial piece of evidence. On the day Isabella was poisoned, Bianca had an alibi. Moreover, the person who administered the poison was her subordinate, not Bianca herself. With just the hospital report, he couldn't do anything to Bianca.

Instead of illegally detaining her, it was better to sell a favor to the Adri Family. This way, the Brown Group could quickly gain the benefits they wanted, and Bianca would be far from the country. Only then would Isabella be safe.

However, letting Bianca off the hook was absolutely impossible. The death of their child, Daniel, and her kidnapping of Isabella-these were things he could never easily forgive. As soon as he had the evidence, no matter where she was, he would find a way to capture her and bring her to justice.

What happened next was just as Michael had anticipated. The mining project fell into the hands of the Brown Group after the Adri Family withdrew. The contract was signed on the day of the collaboration, and the project proceeded as scheduled. The next step was to send professionals to start mining.

After finalizing the details and ensuring the project was on track, Aaron immediately flew back to Evergreen City. Without taking a break, Aaron went straight to the Brown Group to see Michael after landing.

"Aaron, you've worked hard during this time."

Seeing him return safely, Michael stood up and patted his shoulder. Because Aaron was the person he trusted the most, he felt comfortable sending him on this mission. However, seeing Aaron's pale and exhausted face, Michael didn't need to guess how hard he had worked.

"Mr. Brown, why are you being so polite with me all of a sudden? I'm just doing my job for the company. It's what I should do."

Aaron scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed by Michael's praise. Michael smiled and nodded, not continuing with the formalities. He turned and asked his secretary to bring two cups of coffee, inviting Aaron to sit on the couch and rest for a while. They chatted as they drank their coffee.

When the coffee arrived, Michael was already sitting across from Aaron. He took a sip and suddenly asked, "Now that you're back, aren't you planning to see Renee?"

Aaron paused with his coffee cup in hand, then smiled bitterly and shook his head. "I'd better not. My presence would only add to her troubles. She doesn't want to see me, so why should I bother her?"

With the Auroria project completed, he finally felt the pressure lift from his shoulders. From the moment he boarded the plane to leave the country, he didn't dare think about the possibility of a future with Renee. He buried himself in work, not allowing himself a moment's rest.

As soon as he had a moment to think, his mind would involuntarily replay Renee's words of rejection and the disappointment in her eyes.

He had thought that if he explained himself and promised never to hurt her again, she would forgive him. After all, he had turned off his phone for work, and he thought she would understand. But he had forgotten the fear and trauma Renee had experienced during the assassination attempt. From start to finish, he had only considered things from his own perspective. He had never truly put himself in her shoes.

And that time, insisting on seeing her had even led to Isabella's kidnapping and brought disaster to the Wilson Family. Even though he was back now, he didn't have the face to appear before Renee and Isabella.

"Aaron," Michael said, pursing his lips. "Honestly, can you really let her go?"

Aaron sighed. "Mr. Brown, if I could let her go, I wouldn't have gone abroad. But now, I no longer have the right to stay by her side."

He hadn't understood, thinking Renee was just threatened. But this time, having directly dealt with the Adri Family, he knew the extent of their power and ruthlessness. Their so-called "clean-up" meant killing to silence. He didn't even want to imagine what would have happened if Renee hadn't encountered Isabella's help that day. And where was he at that time? He hadn't even turned on his phone, completely absorbed in his work. Did he still have the right to ask for her forgiveness? Aaron couldn't even bring himself to say these words.

Michael looked at Aaron's dejected expression and couldn't help but think of himself. Isabella's attitude towards him was no different. He could hardly even see her now. In that moment, the large office was filled with silence, as two men troubled by love sat together, both lost in their own thoughts.

After a while, Michael put down his coffee cup and spoke to Aaron with heartfelt sincerity. "If you don't want to disturb her anymore, then letting go might be for the best."

Let go? Let go of who, and how? Aaron was suddenly pulled back to reality by Michael's words, and the first image that came to his mind was Renee's face, sometimes cold, sometimes lively. To be honest, he couldn't let her go. But he didn't want to talk about himself anymore. He was more curious about Michael and Isabella.

His eyes flickered. "Mr. Brown, have you let go of Mrs. Brown?"

After all, with the changes in the Wilson Family, Isabella and Michael's relationship must have worsened. But he could see clearly that ever since Isabella got pregnant, Michael had lost his heart to her. And Isabella had feelings for Michael too. But their misunderstandings ran deep, and resolving them would require time and mutual trust. He just didn't know if Michael was willing to keep trying.

Michael didn't know how to answer Aaron for a moment. Aaron and he were different. Aaron and Renee had just missed the right timing, and with some effort, they still had a chance. But Michael and Isabella had too many unresolved issues. Any one of those issues was a complex problem. He had never thought of letting go, but whether this marriage could be saved was no longer up to him alone.

Thinking of this, a trace of sadness crossed Michael's eyes. "My situation is different. Whether I can let go is no longer something I can decide on my own."
