Chapter 394
Isabella sighed and said, "Renee didn't mean it. You don't know, she's really scared of bugs."
She had discovered this by accident.
Renee, who was usually indifferent to everything, would turn pale at the sight of a bug in the garden.
Hearing Isabella's words, Olivia paused and glanced upstairs nervously.
She muttered softly, "It's just a bug. Even kids aren't scared of them. How can she be so timid?"
Isabella didn't know how to explain this to Olivia.
Renee had never mentioned the reason, so Isabella didn't feel it was right to pry.
Just then, a bodyguard came in from outside and reported, "Ms. Taylor, the man who came to see Renee is here again. He's standing outside. Should we send him away?"
Isabella was taken aback but quickly understood.
Was it Aaron?
Last time, Aaron's insistence on seeing Renee had led to Isabella being kidnapped and Daniel having a severe episode.
The bodyguards were so angry at him that they wanted to punch him on sight.
They couldn't understand how Aaron had the nerve to come back.
Isabella also found it strange. Didn't Renee make things clear with him last time?
"Why is he here again?"
Just thinking about Aaron's persistence last time gave Isabella a headache.
The bodyguard continued, "This time, he specifically asked to see you. Should we teach him a lesson and throw him out?"
Who knew what trouble Aaron might bring this time?
The bodyguard was about to leave when Isabella stopped him.
"Wait a minute."
She remembered that Aaron had helped her a lot before. It wouldn't be right to just throw him out.
"I'll go check it out."
Olivia immediately stood up. "I'll go with you."
Aaron was Michael's subordinate. Maybe he was here to act as Michael's messenger.
Isabella nodded, and they walked outside together, meeting Aaron at the door.
"Mrs. Brown, I..."
Before Aaron could finish, Olivia cut him off. "Hold it!"
"Isabella and your boss are getting divorced. There's no need to call her 'Mrs. Brown' anymore."
Isabella had finally gotten rid of that awful man Michael. These people had no right to come back into her life.
Isabella didn't stop Olivia; she felt the same way.
"Aaron, what do you want?"
Isabella wasn't targeting Aaron personally, but he represented Michael, and she wanted nothing to do with Michael anymore.
Aaron hesitated.
He glanced inside but didn't see Renee.
He wasn't really here to see Isabella; he just wanted to see Renee and used this as an excuse.
"Ms. Taylor, is Renee here?"
Since he had come all this way, and if he didn't see Renee, he wouldn't feel at ease.
"You said you wanted to see me. Now you want to see Renee? Aaron, who do you really want to see?"
Isabella had already figured it out.
Did Aaron really think she would help him all the way?
"Mrs. Brown, I'll be honest. I just got back from a business trip abroad and wanted to clear things up with Renee. But she refuses to see me, so I had no choice."
"Aaron, if you know Renee doesn't want to see you, you should understand that I won't force her to do something she doesn't want to do."
Isabella's tone was calm, not hiding anything from him.
Aaron got anxious. "Mrs. Brown, I really want to see her, to check if she's okay, and to ask her something important."
"If you have something to ask, you can tell me. I can relay the message."
Isabella didn't want to push him too far.
But Aaron suddenly fell silent, his face turning red.
"I just want to know how she's doing and if she has..."
Aaron couldn't finish the last part. Isabella waited for a while but didn't hear the rest.
Olivia, impatient, asked, "If she has what? Spit it out! You're acting like a little girl."
"I want to know if Renee has someone she likes now."
Aaron closed his eyes and blurted it out.
Isabella and Olivia were both stunned.
They exchanged glances and burst into laughter.
Aaron's face turned even redder.
Isabella wanted to tell him that Renee hardly ever left the Wilson Family estate, so how could she have met someone new?
But she couldn't say that now.
"Aaron, now you care about Renee?"
Although she didn't know what Renee and Aaron had talked about that day, Isabella had a good idea of Renee's feelings after spending so much time with her.
If Renee could let go of Aaron, she wouldn't have chosen to see him that day.
But Aaron was infuriating. He wasn't there when Renee needed him the most, didn't even call, and now he suddenly wanted to take her away.
How could things be that easy?
Aaron knew he had no excuse, so he spoke honestly, "Isabella, I was on a business trip abroad and couldn't come back. That's why I haven't been around."
Isabella immediately thought of Michael's relentless exploitation of his employees.
Aaron had been a loyal subordinate for years, yet Michael showed no empathy for his struggles.
Isabella softened a bit, about to speak, but Olivia cut in with a cold snort.
"What, did the Brown Group send you to the North Pole or something? In this day and age, you couldn't make a phone call? The truth is, you care more about your job than your girlfriend. Otherwise, you wouldn't have disappeared when she needed you most."
"Now that your work is done, you want to make up for it? Too late!"
Olivia had heard about Renee and Aaron's situation. Aaron dared to treat Renee this way because he thought she had no one to back her up.
But Olivia wouldn't stand for it.
She wouldn't let her friend be mistreated.
After Olivia's words, Aaron looked ashamed, and Isabella was taken aback.
Who would have thought that Renee and Olivia had just been arguing?
And now they were on the same side?
Seeing Isabella's surprised look, Olivia felt a bit embarrassed.
But her friend's problems were her problems, and she wouldn't stand by and do nothing.
She put her hands on her hips and questioned Aaron, "Well? You were so confident a moment ago. Why are you silent now?"
Aaron realized his mistake.
He nodded. "You're right. It's my fault. I didn't take this relationship seriously. I let her down."
Seeing Aaron admit his mistake, Isabella couldn't help but admire Olivia's boldness.
It seemed that outsiders could see things more clearly.
But Isabella's position made it difficult to criticize Aaron. He was Michael's man, and she needed to keep her distance from Michael.
