Chapter 397

Olivia let out a sarcastic laugh. 'Does he really think he's that hotshot? That the Wilson Family can just waltz in and out like they own the place?'

Aaron had already opened his eyes by now. Standing in front of him were Isabella and the sneering Olivia. But the person he most wanted to see wasn't there.

Aaron couldn't bring himself to look Isabella in the eye. What he had done was indeed shameful, and this was Isabella's home.

"Why so quiet now? Weren't you just full of energy a minute ago?" Olivia taunted him.

Aaron clenched his fists, trying to stand up, but the headache only worsened. He could only sit and apologize to Isabella. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Brown. This is all my fault. I really didn't mean any harm. I just wanted to talk to Renee in person. Please, just let me see her for a moment?"

"Wow, how touching. If you hadn't broken into here in the middle of the night, I might have believed you," Olivia shot back, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

Aaron was at his wit's end. No matter what he said, Olivia would counter with a blank expression. If he thought he could easily win over her friend without showing some genuine sincerity, he was sorely mistaken.

"I'm sincere!" Aaron was so desperate he was almost shouting. "I've thought about our future, and I know what Renee is worried about. I just want to tell her that no matter what happens, I'll always be by her side, giving her a sense of security."

"And, I've only ever had feelings for her. I won't marry anyone else in this lifetime."

Isabella remained silent, leaving the situation to Olivia. After all, saying these things was easy, but doing them was hard. No one could guarantee what the future held, so they had to be cautious for Renee's sake.

Olivia let out a cold laugh, completely unmoved. "Aaron, did you learn these lines from your boss? One after another, all just sweet talk!"

With one sentence, she managed to insult both Aaron and Michael. Isabella almost couldn't hold back her laughter.

Aaron's face turned red with frustration, but he was no match for Olivia's sharp tongue.

Olivia raised an eyebrow. "All this talk about only marrying her, is it all just lies? If Renee were here, would you dare to propose to her?"

"Why wouldn't I? I've already decided she's the one. My wife can only be her, no one else."

Isabella glanced at Renee behind him and interjected, "What if she refuses?"

Aaron's face fell, but the determination in his eyes remained. "She's rejected me before. I can wait, as long as it takes, until she finds someone she truly loves. Then I'll leave on my own."

"I only love her in this lifetime. I can't be with anyone else."

"But don't worry, I won't cling to her. If she tells me she doesn't want to see me again, I'll disappear and protect her from afar."

He spoke slowly and firmly, and even Isabella couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy. If only Michael had been as steadfast in choosing Isabella, maybe they wouldn't have ended up like this. Unfortunately, in his choices, she was never the priority. And she wasn't the one he loved.

Isabella pressed her lips together and squeezed Olivia's hand, which Olivia took as a sign of agreement. Olivia then turned her gaze to Renee, giving her a wink.

Then Olivia asked Aaron one last question, "You say you're willing to marry Renee, but it's not just about words. You don't have much right now. How are you going to take care of her?"

"What if something like last time happens again, and you're not there for her because of work? What will she do then?"

Hearing this, Renee's body trembled slightly. This was a knot in her heart. More than the threats from the organization, she feared that when she truly needed him, he would abandon her for other reasons.

But Aaron responded firmly, "It won't happen again. Once was enough for me to regret it. I won't let her be in danger again."

"Before coming here, I already sorted out my properties, car, and savings. I'll give them all to her. Mr. Brown has treated me well over the years, and I have enough money to provide her with a stable home."

His honest and sincere words left Olivia with no room to argue. After all, he had laid everything out. Continuing to make things difficult for him would be unreasonable.

Isabella felt the same. Although the money wasn't much in her eyes, it showed that Aaron was genuinely thinking about Renee's future. Because he had given everything he had. And, of course, his heart. That was more precious than anything.

"I really love Renee, Mrs. Brown. Please, let me see her."

Aaron pleaded once more, but this time Isabella shook her head, "Pleading with me won't help. You should ask the person behind you if she's willing to see you."

Hearing this, Aaron's body stiffened. His headache was so severe he hadn't noticed anyone behind him. When he quickly turned around, Renee slowly emerged from behind the sofa, coming to stand in front of Aaron.

Isabella and Olivia exchanged a glance and smiled, "Alright, we'll give you some space. We're going to our rooms to rest."

Olivia teased, "Keep your voices down when you confess, don't wake us up."

With that, they walked upstairs, giggling.

Only one lamp was on in the living room, not too bright, which was why Aaron hadn't noticed her. But now, with Renee so close, Aaron found himself at a loss for words.

"Renee, I..."

"Wait a moment, I need to get something."

Renee turned and left. Aaron looked at his outstretched hand, left hanging awkwardly in the air. This was Isabella's home, so he didn't dare move around. He sat on the sofa, waiting for Renee to return.

Fortunately, she came back quickly. She was holding what looked like iodine and cotton swabs. Was she worried about him? Hope surged in Aaron's heart, his eyes lighting up.

"Renee, I'm fine. It doesn't hurt. Ah!"

Renee paused with the cotton swab, ordering Aaron, "Don't move."

"Okay."

Seeing his girlfriend so worried about him, Aaron didn't dare move a muscle, sitting quietly as Renee cleaned his wound. Renee carefully disinfected the wound. Thankfully, it wasn't too big, or she would have felt guilty for a long time.

"Does it hurt?" she asked softly.

"No, not at all."

Aaron responded quickly and directly. The person he cared about was right beside him, just within reach. He was too happy to care about a little pain. He was overjoyed to be with Renee, and nothing could make him give up this sweet moment with her.
