Chapter 409
Atticus rolled his eyes at Holden and tossed his phone over. "I don't have time for this. Isabella didn't go. The bodyguard just called."
Seeing the call log from a minute ago, Holden finally relaxed. "Good, that place isn't safe. If something happened to Isabella, Dad won't be at peace."
Atticus didn't say anything. Daniel's last wish was for Isabella to live a happy life. They, as her uncles, would protect her with their lives if necessary.
Holden pulled up a chair and sat down, glancing at the documents on the desk. He suddenly frowned. "Atticus, didn't you hand the company over to Emilio? Why are you still handling things? Ever since Dad passed, you've been busy with family matters. Isn't your own work important?"
Atticus was the head of the Southern Military District, constantly busy with affairs. Now he had to juggle the family business and Isabella's safety. He must be exhausted.
Hearing this, Atticus's eyes slowly darkened, and he sighed lightly. Some things didn't need to be said; they were already clear.
Holden grew anxious. "Atticus, don't wear yourself out. Your work is just as important. Let the professionals handle the company. As for the family, leave it to me."
Atticus looked up at him, surprised but pleased. "Holden, it's enough that you care. The company is stabilizing, and with Emilio there, I'll soon be able to step back. But I'm still worried about Isabella."
If it weren't for his concern for Isabella, he would have already thrown himself into his own career.
Holden nodded in agreement. "True, a lot has happened to Isabella recently. If we keep her cooped up at home, her emotions will suffer."
Atticus shared this concern. The next moment, Holden had a bright idea. "Hey, Atticus, since we're worried about Isabella going out, why not arrange for someone reliable to accompany her? That way, we can be at ease wherever she goes."
Atticus didn't quite get it and frowned. "Isabella isn't lacking for company. Her friend Olivia is staying with her, and there's also Cinda. What more does she need?"
Cinda was someone they had chosen, though Isabella didn't know that. But Cinda wouldn't encourage Isabella to do anything dangerous. As for Olivia... Just thinking about her gave Atticus a headache. He avoided dealing with Olivia whenever possible, as long as she didn't drag Isabella into trouble, he was content.
"Atticus, I don't mean friends or a nanny. I mean finding Isabella a boyfriend!"
"A boyfriend!" Atticus nearly choked on Holden's words. "What nonsense are you talking about?"
"Isabella and Michael aren't even divorced yet. If this gets out, how will Isabella face anyone?"
"So what!" Holden didn't care about such things. "Thomas is handling their divorce. They're already done for. Or do you want to push Isabella back to that scumbag Michael?"
"Of course not!" Atticus frowned. "The Browns won't pick on Isabella again. The divorce has to happen."
They had kept quiet out of respect for Aiden and Daniel being old friends, but now that Daniel was gone, they were Isabella's only support. As long as they were around, no one would dare mess with Isabella.
"Exactly! Atticus, think about it. Isabella was deeply in love with Michael. Who knows if she's really over him? If we don't introduce someone suitable now, what if she rekindles things with Michael? That would be worse!"
Holden's words hit home for Atticus. As the uncle who doted on Isabella the most, her love life was his biggest worry. The Browns couldn't have Isabella back. The best way to separate her from Michael was to introduce a new "boyfriend."
But he needed to confirm one thing. "Do you have someone in mind?"
Holden caught Atticus's drift. Clearly, he agreed with the idea. Holden grinned and leaned in. "I think Emilio is a good match. You admire him, don't you? He could help Isabella with the company too. They'd be perfect together."
Holden had thought it through. Atticus nodded. "Emilio is indeed suitable, but will Isabella agree?"
He had spent a lot of time with Emilio at the company recently. Emilio's abilities and character impressed him. He had considered this before, but Isabella seemed to see Emilio only as a friend.
"Don't worry, I'll handle Isabella. Leave it to me." Holden patted his chest, taking on the responsibility.
Meanwhile, at the Wilson Villa, Cinda was surprised to see Isabella and Olivia return so soon. "Ms. Taylor, you just left. Why are you back so quickly?"
Isabella, recalling the argument with Michael at the airport, felt a headache coming on. "Not going."
Michael, that jerk. They were getting divorced, yet he still tried to control her.
"Didn't Renee come back with you?" Cinda asked, noticing it was just the two of them.
"Her?" Olivia smirked. "She has company abroad. We didn't need to follow."
"I see. I'll make lunch for you. It's almost noon, and you must be hungry." Cinda headed to the kitchen.
"Cinda, I want your shrimp. Can I help?" Olivia linked arms with Cinda and followed her.
Isabella went to her room and sat at the piano to compose. Though Olivia suggested finding someone else to write the music, Isabella didn't want to give up halfway. She had promised Olivia.
Once she sat down, Isabella immersed herself in her world, not even hearing the knock on the door. Olivia had to push the door open. Seeing Isabella focused on her sheet music, she sighed.
"Isabella, I said we could find someone else to compose. You're going to wear yourself out."
Hearing her, Isabella snapped back to reality and explained, "I'm just sitting around at home anyway. I might as well finish this piece. It'll save your manager from bothering you."
