Chapter 423

Isabella just wanted to get rid of Michael and put some distance between them.

Seeing how unreasonable he was being, she didn't care anymore. She intimately linked arms with Emilio, who was standing beside her, making sure Michael saw it.

"Take a good look, Michael. I've got plenty of better options around me. As someone who's about to be my ex-husband, shouldn't you be considerate enough to give us some space?"

Isabella was practically humiliating Michael in front of everyone.

But he didn't react at all.

He stayed calm, his eyes lightly sweeping over Isabella.

"You said I'm about to be your ex-husband. Right now, I'm still your legal husband. What's wrong with me being here? Did I break any laws?"

"And this is a public place. I can stay here as long as I want. Just because you two are on a date doesn't mean I have to disappear."

Michael had already figured things out.

If he wanted to win his wife back, he couldn't be too concerned about his pride. As long as he could get her back, none of these external things mattered to him.

"You... you're shameless."

Isabella knew how thick-skinned Michael could be, but she had never seen him this shameless. Her face turned red with anger.

Emilio looked at Isabella, who was holding his arm, and then at Michael. His eyes flashed with a hint of sharpness.

He shielded Isabella behind him and gave Michael a cold look.

"Mr. Brown, you heard what Isabella said. She doesn't want to see you anymore. Staying here will only make everyone uncomfortable. Please leave voluntarily."

Today was a rare day for him to spend alone with Isabella.

No one was going to ruin it.

Seeing Emilio act like a boyfriend, Michael's eyes flashed with coldness.

"Who do you think you are to order me around?"

The Brown Group's heir had a prestigious status that no one in Evergreen City dared to question.

Not to mention Emilio, a mere vice president. Even the head of his family wouldn't dare speak to Michael like that.

But Emilio wasn't afraid of him. No matter how powerful Michael's background was, it didn't matter. Isabella didn't love him anymore, so to her, Michael was just an ordinary person.

"Isabella already said who I am. Or do you have hearing problems and need to hear it again, Mr. Brown?"

Emilio's tone carried a hint of mockery and pride.

Although he couldn't match Michael's status, he wasn't someone to be trifled with.

Since Michael was provoking him, there was no need to be polite.

Michael sneered, "A lover? What right do you have to stand here? You don't even qualify to be her boyfriend. Don't forget, Isabella and I are still married."

He glanced at Isabella with an innocent look.

"I didn't say anything wrong, did I?"

They had signed the divorce papers, but the court hadn't finalized it yet. In every sense, they were still legally married.

Emilio was in such a hurry to take his place, as if Michael was already out of the picture!

"Michael, that's enough!"

Isabella couldn't take it anymore and retorted, "The only reason we haven't divorced yet is because of some delays on Thomas's end. Do you really think I have the patience to wait until now?"

"And we have no connection anymore. A divorce agreement means nothing. To me, you've been out of the picture for a long time."

With Emilio as a good friend, Isabella didn't want to bring up these old issues.

But Michael was being too much. Completely unreasonable.

She didn't want to say another word to him.

"Emilio, let's go. He's not worth our time."

Isabella said, pulling Emilio in another direction.

Emilio looked at Isabella's flushed face, and any worries he had about their relationship vanished. He no longer saw Michael as a threat.

Because Isabella had truly let go of Michael.

Everything was now in Emilio's favor.

Isabella thought that after saying all this, Michael would leave.

But she didn't expect him to act as if nothing had happened, following her and Emilio at a leisurely pace.

He acted like nothing had happened.

Isabella stopped in her tracks and glared at Michael.

Seeing that Isabella was really angry, Michael wisely explained, "I told you I don't have any money on me. I can only follow you."

He actually wanted to say that he didn't want to see her with another man, but he couldn't bring himself to say it.

Emilio had dared to challenge him earlier, all because Isabella had feelings for Emilio now.

Emilio and Isabella were calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend. How could he let them be alone?

Isabella looked at Michael speechlessly. The next second, she took a wad of cash from her bag and threw it at him.

"Here's the money. From now on, stop following me. Got it?"

Michael never expected Isabella to do that. By the time he reacted, the cash was scattered on the ground.

But Michael didn't bother to pick it up.

He stared at Isabella's disdainful and determined figure as she walked away.

At that moment, he deeply regretted not treating her better over the past three years, leading to this outcome.

He had been arrogant and proud, never putting anyone in his eyes. He had made her suffer alone in the Brown Family for three years.

Suddenly, as if sensing Michael's gaze, Isabella stopped.

Michael's heart tightened.

Would she come back to him?

Unfortunately, Michael was destined to be disappointed. Isabella just took out her phone and answered a call.

Her light and gentle voice rang out, but it wasn't directed at him.

"Uncle Atticus, Olivia, you guys are here? But we've already entered the park. Even if your car broke down, you guys are too slow."

"Did something happen on the way?" Isabella teased them on the phone.

Emilio watched her playfully joke with Atticus and Olivia, her bold and quirky demeanor. He reached out and patted her head, smiling indulgently.

It had to be Isabella. If it were anyone else, Atticus would have been angry by now.

"Alright, Emilio and I will wait for you here. We'll go together then."

Isabella was on the phone and didn't notice Emilio's actions. But Michael, who had been watching them, saw everything clearly.

Isabella's acceptance of Emilio's intimate gesture was enough to prove she had feelings for him.

So whether it was Nolan or anyone else, she could be gentle and kind, but she had no warmth left for Michael.

He had been deluding himself.

From the beginning, he had never won her love.
