Chapter 438

Nolan instantly recognized the man with Isabella.

Emilio!

He was now the Vice President of the Wilson Group and Isabella's childhood friend.

"They went to Graceful Haven Church together?"

To outsiders, it looked like a date.

Nolan hadn't forgotten Michael's "reminder" at the Brown Family last time.

His face darkened, feeling a clear sense of crisis, but he didn't show it.

He ordered, "Get a gift ready. I need to see Isabella."

"Yes, Mr. Brown."

The bodyguard responded and left.

Nolan stood by the window, clenching his fists.

Isabella was his, and no one could take her away.

Meanwhile, at the Wilson Family home, Isabella was quietly sipping the fruit tea Cinda had made for her in the living room. With the weather getting colder, the hot fruit tea was a good choice.

Facing the everyday fruit tea made by Cinda, Isabella knew she couldn't argue with her, so she went along with it.

Holden, after hanging up Atticus's call, sat next to Isabella. He wanted to ask about what happened at Graceful Haven Church but was afraid of bringing up painful memories for her.

He hesitated for a long time but couldn't bring himself to ask.

Instead, Isabella looked at Holden and asked, "Uncle Holden, what have you been up to these days? Why haven't you come to see me at the Wilson Family home?"

Atticus hadn't come back because Olivia was here, but what was Holden busy with?

Holden felt a headache coming on just thinking about the things he had been investigating recently.

Isabella was already in poor health, and he didn't want to worry her.

"Of course, I wanted to see you. It's just that Atticus has been busy, and I had to help him out a bit, which delayed me."

With the topic opened, Holden directly asked, "Isabella, I heard from Atticus that Michael saved you today. What exactly happened? How did he just happen to run into you?"

"Holden, why are you bringing up the most inappropriate topic? Isabella doesn't want to hear about Michael right now."

Olivia, who was nearby, glared at Holden angrily.

"We were just chatting, and you interrupted us."

Holden didn't know that Olivia was the person Atticus liked. He just thought Olivia had a bad temper, even daring to interrupt her elder.

"You brought up Isabella's painful memories on purpose. How could I not intervene?"

"You!"

"Alright, don't argue. I know you're both looking out for me. Just ask whatever you want. There's nothing I can't talk about."

Isabella patted Olivia's hand, signaling her not to be angry.

Isabella had come to terms with it.

Seeing this, Holden didn't hold back and asked directly, "What's going on with you and Michael? Did he mess with you again?"

Otherwise, why would Michael show up when they were about to get divorced?

Isabella shook her head. "No, he didn't. He just told me the truth."

She and Michael had broken up and reconciled many times, but this time, she really wanted to let go.

No matter what Michael did in the past, she always believed she could win him over with her sincerity.

So when he risked everything to hold her and roll down the hill, she couldn't control the suppressed love in her heart.

But when she finally mustered the courage to express her feelings, she received the most heartbreaking answer.

Michael didn't like her. He didn't three years ago, and he still didn't now.

All her efforts had turned into a big joke.

Their relationship finally ended with his cold words, "Isabella, I was just repaying a life for a life."

She took a deep breath. "Uncle Holden, Olivia, you don't need to worry about me. I'm very clear-headed and calm now. I just don't want to deal with relationships at this time."

She was stubborn, but she had only ever loved Michael. It would take a long time to completely remove him from her world.

And she didn't want to use anyone as a substitute to forget Michael.

Emilio was great, but she had lost the heart to love again.

"As long as you're okay, that's all that matters."

Olivia nodded decisively. She only cared about Isabella's well-being; nothing else mattered.

Holden, on the other hand, immediately thought of Emilio and felt troubled.

Isabella's words clearly indicated she was going to reject Emilio.

But Emilio wasn't just anyone. He was the person Holden and Atticus had carefully chosen as the most suitable boyfriend for Isabella.

They had worked hard to create opportunities for Emilio and Isabella to spend time alone, only to have Michael ruin it.

He felt frustrated on Emilio's behalf.

Could it be that Emilio and Isabella were really not meant to be?

"We were going to get divorced anyway. If there were still feelings, it would be more troublesome. You don't need to worry about me. Since I've chosen to let go, I won't let him disrupt my life anymore."

"After all, who doesn't encounter a few bad men in their life? I'll just take it as gaining some experience."

Loving the wrong person wasn't her fault, but if she continued to be stubborn, it would be her problem.

Suddenly, Isabella seemed to think of something. Loving the wrong person, being stubborn. Wasn't this the inspiration she had been missing for her composition?

Thinking of this, Isabella jumped up and exclaimed, "I finally got it!"

She quickly ran upstairs, leaving Holden and Olivia stunned and at a loss.

Watching Isabella disappear, Holden pointed upstairs, feeling even more anxious.

"Why do I feel like Isabella isn't as calm as she says? She seems even more off than before."

This time, Olivia didn't dare to argue easily. She opened her mouth but could only shake her head helplessly.

"Isabella must have been deeply hurt by that bad man Michael. She doesn't want us to worry, so she's acting like this."

What did Michael use to lure Isabella? After all these years, wasn't it enough? Even when they were about to divorce, he still had to cause trouble?

Just then, Atticus returned from outside and entered the living room, only to see Holden and Olivia sitting on the couch, sighing at each other, with no sign of Isabella.

Puzzled, he asked, "Where's Isabella? Isn't she home?"

On the way back from the hospital, he was most worried about Isabella's emotions.

Now that he was home and couldn't see her, Atticus felt a sudden panic.

Holden was about to speak, but Olivia beat him to it. "Isabella just went to her room. She's not in a good mood. I think it's best not to disturb her right now."

Olivia had initially looked at Atticus while saying this, but when he focused all his attention on her, her face uncontrollably turned red.

She instinctively averted her gaze.
