Chapter 441

Isabella hesitated when she heard Nolan's suggestion.

It wasn't that she didn't want Nolan to visit her at home, but the current situation was just too complicated.

She had just gone through a complete breakup with Michael and had indirectly turned down Emilio's advances. If Nolan came over now, it would easily lead to misunderstandings.

Besides, Nolan looked so much like Michael.

Atticus and Holden would definitely overthink it. It was better if Nolan didn't come.

"Nolan, it's too much trouble for you to come over here. How about we meet at that café we usually go to? I've been craving their hand-brewed coffee."

She used to love going to that café, but so much had happened since then that she hadn't gone out alone in a long time.

Nolan felt a bit disappointed, but as long as he could see Isabella, he still had a chance.

Over the years, he had developed a habit of indulging Isabella.

He could never say no to her.

"Alright, I'll wait for you there."

They hung up the phone after that.

When Isabella walked into the living room, she didn't see anyone, so she snuck out alone.

Half an hour later, she parked her car outside the café.

She immediately spotted Nolan sitting at the best spot by the window.

Isabella waved in his direction and quickly entered the café, taking off her coat and sitting across from him. "Nolan, have you been waiting long?"

This café was close to Whispering Pines Estates, where Atticus had sent her, but it wasn't near the Wilson Family home.

Even at her fastest, it would take her half an hour to get there.

Nolan clearly looked like he had arrived early and had been waiting for a while.

"No, I just got here. Your safety comes first, especially with your injury."

Nolan's eyes immediately fell on the white bandage on Isabella's arm, filled with concern and worry.

"How did you get hurt? Does it still hurt?"

Isabella didn't want to think about the accident on the mountain, as it would only remind her of Michael desperately saving her.

Since she had chosen to move on, she needed to be decisive.

She shook her head and instinctively lowered her hand. "It doesn't hurt anymore. It's just a minor injury, nothing to worry about. Nolan, you don't need to be so tense."

Seeing that Isabella didn't want to talk about it, Nolan wisely changed the subject. "That's good to hear."

"The café has recently added some new desserts. I ordered two for you. See if there's anything else you want to drink. It's on me today, so order whatever you like."

"Really? Then I won't hold back."

Isabella's eyes sparkled with a smile. Nolan always knew how to make her happy, always so gentle.

She picked up the menu and called over a server, ordering a hand-brewed black coffee and a classic mango mousse. She couldn't eat much more than that.

Besides, Nolan had already ordered other things for her.

After the server left, Isabella smiled and asked Nolan about recent changes.

"Nolan, why have you been so busy lately? I haven't seen you in ages."

Nolan didn't mention that he had resigned from his job at the school. Instead, he told her mysteriously, "I've been busy, but it will be over soon. I'll tell you all about it then, okay?"

"Before that, I have some good news to share."

Isabella had known Nolan wanted to tell her something important, and now her curiosity was piqued. She couldn't wait to find out.

"What is it, Nolan? I'm already here, so don't keep me in suspense."

To Isabella, Nolan was like an older brother.

Even if she and Michael divorced in the future, their relationship wouldn't change.

So when Nolan repeatedly hinted that he had good news, she was genuinely happy for him.

Seeing the curiosity in Isabella's eyes, Nolan smiled and made a shushing gesture.

"Isabella, promise me that no matter what you see, don't get too excited or scream, okay?"

Isabella tried to suppress her laughter and nodded.

She was in her twenties, and Nolan still treated her like a child.

What news could possibly make her scream?

Nolan didn't explain further. He just looked at Isabella, then backed his wheelchair up a bit and removed the gray blanket covering his legs.

Then, he stood up straight in front of her.

But he quickly sat back down in the wheelchair.

Isabella was so shocked that she covered her mouth with both hands, her eyes wide as she stared at Nolan.

She was so excited she could barely speak. "Nolan, you can stand up!"

"Oh my God!"

"This is amazing news."

Isabella cheered but quickly covered her mouth, remembering Nolan's reminder.

Nolan had already covered his legs with the blanket again and nodded with a smile. "Yes, I've been working hard, and it's finally paying off. I still can't walk very well, but with rehab, the doctor says I should be back to normal in less than six months."

"That's wonderful! Fate has finally smiled on you. Nolan, you can go back to being yourself. I'm so happy for you."

Nolan had endured so much over the years. She didn't want him to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.

Now that his legs were better, maybe his life could get back on track.

To Isabella, Nolan had always been the epitome of an excellent man. He would surely find his own happiness.

"Isabella, thanks. Your words mean a lot to me."

Nolan's lips curved into a smile, his deep eyes fixed on her face. His usual gentle and kind gaze now had a hint of intensity.

Isabella noticed it immediately but didn't think much of it. She touched her face, thinking something might be on it.

"Nolan, what are you looking at? Is there something on my face?"

She instinctively reached for the napkin on the table, but Nolan grabbed her hand and then quickly let go.

He casually handed her the napkin.

Isabella thought Nolan was acting a bit strange today, but since he didn't say anything, she couldn't figure it out.

"Isabella, do you remember I told you I had someone in my heart, someone I've liked for many years?"

Isabella nodded.

She had heard Nolan mention it before, just as Nolan knew how much she liked Michael.

They used to share everything.

But Nolan never revealed the person's name or any details, only that there was someone he could wait for forever.

"Nolan, now that your legs are better, are you planning to find that girl again?"

Isabella had a rough idea of what Nolan was thinking.

His legs had suddenly given out before, and he had lost hope for the future. It was understandable that he had given up.

Now that he could stand and had his passion for music, finding the person he loved was an act of courage.
