Chapter 446
With Atticus's special instructions, the lunch was set up lavishly.
Holden even brought out a bottle of red wine he had been saving for a long time, pouring it for everyone, clearly in high spirits.
Isabella looked at the people around her, all there to support her, and the sadness in her heart gradually faded away.
She had family, she had friends; she shouldn't let herself be consumed by grief any longer.
Taking a deep breath, she raised her glass and gently clinked it with Olivia's.
The glasses made a crisp, clear sound, and a smile spread across Isabella's face. The aroma of the wine brought back a sense of her old self.
"Olivia, aren't you going to congratulate me on being single again?"
Hearing this, not only Olivia was stunned, but even Isabella herself was surprised.
This was the real her, the carefree and spirited Isabella who never let others drain her energy.
A glimmer of joy flashed in Olivia's eyes.
"Of course, congratulations! Welcome back, Princess of the Wilson Family."
They raised their eyebrows, lifted their glasses, and drank heartily.
After a few drinks, Olivia started singing, and Isabella danced along to her voice, completely immersed in their own world. It was like they were back in the days when they used to go wild at the bar together.
The three Wilson brothers at the table didn't stop them, just watched with smiles as Isabella let loose.
Isabella drank too much and, after a few spins, felt dizzy. She leaned over and fell onto Olivia's shoulder.
Taking advantage of the alcohol, she pointed a finger at Olivia and asked, "Olivia, tell me the truth, are you hiding something from me?"
Because of the alcohol, Isabella's face was flushed, and her speech was not as smooth as usual.
"Of course not," Olivia quickly denied. "You're my best friend. How could I hide anything from you? No way, no way."
"Really?" Isabella snorted, clearly not believing Olivia at all.
She glanced in Atticus's direction and asked deliberately, "If you're not hiding anything, then why did Uncle Atticus keep looking at you when you started singing? He couldn't take his eyes off you."
His gaze was almost enough to sweep her off her feet and into his arms.
"No way, you must have seen it wrong."
Olivia's face turned bright red when Isabella mentioned Atticus.
At Graceful Haven Church, she didn't know that Isabella had orchestrated everything to make it seem like a chance encounter with Atticus. She had even told Isabella that she wanted to forget Atticus and start anew.
But now, she had somehow ended up with him.
"I didn't see it wrong," Isabella teased. "Tell me, have you and Atticus already promised each other forever? Are you going to be his wife?"
His wife?
Olivia almost buried her head in embarrassment at the mention of that title.
Although she and Atticus hadn't reached that point yet, if things continued as they were, she might really marry him.
Just thinking about it made Olivia clutch her chest, her heart racing uncontrollably.
"Isabella, I didn't mean to hide it from you. Atticus and I are indeed together."
"If you're upset, you can tell me directly. I can handle it."
She hadn't planned to tell Isabella so soon, considering Isabella was still dealing with the pain of her divorce.
But now that Isabella had asked, she didn't want to keep it from her anymore.
Isabella was her best friend, and she valued their friendship as much as she valued Atticus.
If she didn't get Isabella's blessing, she wouldn't be happy.
Isabella patted Olivia and laughed.
"Why would I be upset? Did you forget I was the one who supported you and Uncle Atticus from the start? I'm happier than anyone that you two are together. I'm serious, Olivia."
"I want you to be happy, and if Uncle Atticus is the right one, then that's perfect."
She and Michael were not meant to be, but if Atticus and Olivia could find happiness, it would be a comfort to her.
"Isabella, you're so kind. I was so scared you'd be mad when you found out, so I didn't dare tell you. You have no idea how anxious I was."
Olivia was moved to tears.
After all, she loved Isabella's uncle, the person who adored Isabella the most. She thought Isabella would be angry with her because of it.
But instead, she received Isabella's most sincere blessing.
She was truly touched.
"Don't cry, this is a good thing. You haven't told me how far you and Atticus have gotten. Have you discussed when to have the wedding?"
"I can't wait to see you in a wedding dress. You'll definitely sweep Atticus off his feet."
At the mention of this, Olivia blushed and didn't know where to put her hands.
Especially with Atticus not far away, just a glance up and she could see him.
Olivia didn't dare to discuss these things loudly with Isabella.
"Well, I don't know. We just confirmed our relationship. Isn't it too early to talk about marriage?"
She did want to marry Atticus soon, but it wasn't something she could decide on her own.
She had to see what he thought.
Seeing Olivia's shyness, Isabella stopped teasing her. "Alright, I'll ask Atticus about it later. I won't rush you. You just wait to be his wife."
"Isabella, stop it. I told you, I'm not his wife yet. Even if we get married, our relationship won't change. Just call me by my name."
"Alright, alright, I'll call you whatever you want."
Isabella sat for a while and felt a bit uncomfortable, so she wanted to go to the restroom.
Olivia, worried she might be unsteady, went with her.
They left the dining room together.
At the table, Atticus watched Isabella and Olivia leave, then turned his gaze back to his wine glass.
He took a sip of the red wine, as if something had come to mind, and suddenly turned to Thomas.
"What's going on with you? Didn't you say you had urgent business at the company? How come you're back to handle Isabella's divorce?"
At the mention of this, Thomas's anger flared up.
He gripped his wine glass tightly and downed its contents in one gulp.
"Atticus, don't bring it up. The more I think about it, the more I feel Isabella wasted so many years and emotions on that jerk Michael!"
"That bastard Michael doesn't deserve our Isabella."
"You have no idea how despicable he is. He actually came to me, asking to expedite the divorce, saying he was in a hurry and couldn't wait any longer."
"Did he forget he's the one at fault in this marriage? Isabella hasn't said anything, and he's the one who can't wait. Luckily, I managed to clear my schedule and make time to come back."
