Chapter 468

Even though Isabella often found Holden to be a bit of a worrywart and a chatterbox, wasn't that exactly what Jessa needed?

Holden was great at managing all sorts of tasks, and as a top-tier actress, Jessa needed someone who could provide her with thoughtful care and attention.

From every angle, they seemed like a perfect match.

If they could become a couple, they would undoubtedly be the ideal pair.

However, when Isabella mentioned Holden's name, a flicker of surprise crossed Jessa's face.

She didn't explain, though, and just listened quietly as Isabella continued.

"Jessa, you might not know this, but Holden, despite his stern appearance, is incredibly kind-hearted. Sure, he nags a bit, but he's just a softie at heart. If you act a little spoiled around him, he'll agree to anything. These past few weeks at home, whenever Atticus got busy, it was Holden who took care of me. He's so meticulous, handling everything around me."

When she was younger, Atticus doted on her the most, and he was also the strictest with her.

Whenever she wanted to sneak out for some fun, it was Holden who covered for her with her grandpa and Atticus.

Holden might be a bit of a nag, but his care for her was genuine and unconditional.

So, she believed Holden deserved someone who understood him and was right for him, only then would they both be happy.

After hearing Isabella's words, Jessa turned her gaze back from the window and smiled at Isabella.

"From what you say, Holden does seem like a wonderful person."

Olivia, sitting nearby, had understood Isabella's intentions from her first sentence.

She was trying to find a girlfriend for Holden, wasn't she?

How could Olivia not help with something like that?

"I can vouch for everything Isabella said. Holden might talk a lot, but he's a genuinely good person, especially when it comes to taking care of others. It's rare to find such a considerate and gentle man."

However, Jessa's attention had been on the dark figure in the yard outside, so she hadn't really noticed what Olivia said.

Isabella, seeing Jessa looking outside, thought she was looking at Holden.

But when she followed Jessa's gaze, Holden's car was already gone, and the only car left in the yard was Orion's. He was standing in front of it, talking on the phone.

Isabella was taken aback. "Jessa, do you know Orion?"

Her heart skipped a beat.

Could she have misunderstood?

Was Jessa interested in Orion, not Holden?

"We don't know each other," Jessa replied decisively.

"We just saw each other at Daniel's funeral. He looked familiar, but I couldn't place him, so I looked a bit longer."

Jessa's tone was calm, and her expression didn't change much. It was as if she had just seen a familiar stranger.

"I see," Isabella sighed in relief. Thank goodness. If it had been Orion, she would have really been playing matchmaker for the wrong couple.

Just as she was about to ask more, her phone rang.

It was Aaron.

Isabella knew he and Renee were in Auroria, so a call from him must be important.

She had to excuse herself to Jessa and went to her room to take the call.

"Hey, Mrs. Brown, it's me."

Aaron had been calling her that for three years, out of habit, but it still felt awkward to Isabella.

"Aaron, Michael and I are divorced. Please just call me by my name from now on," Isabella said calmly.

She had received a call from Renee two days ago, detailing the plan to escape from the Adri Family and what she needed from Atticus.

Now, she was just waiting for the right moment from Renee.

Aaron's sudden call made her wonder if the plan had changed.

But why wasn't Renee contacting her directly?

Just as Isabella was about to ask, Aaron's next words stopped her.

"Isabella, did you hear that Mr. Brown was removed from his position at the company?"

Isabella immediately understood Aaron's intention.

Renee must be safe.

Otherwise, Aaron wouldn't have the time to worry about Michael.

"I heard. And?" she replied indifferently, though thinking about what happened two days ago made her feel tumultuous inside.

If she hadn't softened and asked Atticus to find Michael, she wouldn't have been subjected to Michael's torment all night.

And she had discovered his secret that night.

Thinking about how Michael had professed his love for her while insisting on the divorce made Isabella see him as a bad man.

"But Mr. Brown is really hurt by what happened at the company. He's not in a good place emotionally," Aaron said, trying to elicit sympathy for Michael.

He called today to try to mend the relationship between Isabella and Michael.

Aaron knew Michael's feelings for Isabella better than anyone.

If he could use this opportunity to soften Isabella's heart, maybe Michael could get back together with her.

But Isabella's next words shattered Aaron's hopes.

"Why should I care if he's upset?" Isabella sneered.

He was upset? He had almost broken her back with his torment, and she hadn't even complained. Now he was the one feeling wronged?

Michael was truly unreasonable.

Aaron was momentarily speechless.

True, they were divorced. Michael's issues had nothing to do with Isabella anymore.

But Aaron knew Michael only had eyes for Isabella, and she still had feelings for him. They were just estranged due to misunderstandings.

If they could sit down and talk things out, they wouldn't have ended up divorced.

Even as an outsider, Aaron felt they shouldn't be like this.

"Isabella, why are you doing this? You still care about Michael. Why say such hurtful things?" Aaron sighed. "You don't know how much Michael has silently endured. He never talks about it, so he has no one to share his pain with."
