Chapter 481
Aaron still didn't quite get it. "If I were Nolan, I wouldn't pick this moment. After all that planning, if I got caught now, it'd be game over, right?"
Michael gave a resigned smile. "We found the evidence now, but what if we hadn't? Plus, the Adri Family backing Nolan has been waiting for him to ask for help."
Only then would Nolan willingly give up his interests.
Neither of them was a simple person.
"And don't forget, both you and I have been kicked out of the company. You should be thinking about what you're going to do next. You can't stay in the hospital forever, right?"
Since being kicked out of the company, Nolan had been sending people to follow Michael's every move.
Michael had no choice but to pretend to spend every night in different clubs, wasting money on drinks and parties, then kicking everyone out halfway through to find a room to sleep in.
He was incredibly bored.
Now that someone who could help him was back, he no longer had to live that fake party life.
As Michael's executive assistant for nearly four years, Aaron didn't need to think much to know that Michael was bored out of his mind.
But in his current state, he was powerless.
Even the doctors said it was a miracle he survived the shipwreck, and he needed to rest properly to ensure his wounds healed.
Renee had given him strict orders: as long as she was watching, he wasn't leaving the hospital.
He wouldn't be discharged anytime soon.
He spread his hands helplessly. "Mr. Brown, look at my situation. I'd love to join you in the action, but I can't even get out of bed."
But just because he couldn't leave the hospital didn't mean Michael couldn't visit him.
Aaron suddenly had a brilliant idea.
"Mr. Brown, have you thought about a 'chance' encounter with Mrs. Brown?"
Since Michael didn't need to go to the company now, he could take this opportunity to reconnect with Isabella. Who knew? It might lead to something good.
Sure enough, Michael's eyes lit up at the mention of "Mrs. Brown."
"Are you saying Isabella might come here?"
Aaron was about to say yes, but remembering Isabella's specific instructions, he changed his approach.
"I'm not sure if Mrs. Brown will come again, but Renee is staying with Mrs. Brown. They often go out together."
Come again?
Michael caught the key point immediately.
So, Isabella had already been here.
No wonder Aaron had found evidence against Nolan so quickly, including the watch Nolan wore.
After all, no one knew that watch better than Isabella.
"Mr. Brown, why don't you join me in seeking refuge under Mrs. Brown's wing?"
Aaron didn't mind.
He was staying in this private hospital's VIP room thanks to Renee.
So, he had no hesitation in seeking Isabella's help.
In his heart, Michael and Isabella would end up together no matter what.
Aaron's last sentence successfully tempted Michael.
If he could see Isabella every day without being exposed to others, it was a huge temptation.
"Do you think she would agree?"
Michael's eyes wavered.
Aaron held back a smile and nodded vigorously.
"Look, Mr. Brown, you and Mrs. Brown are divorced now. If you don't make your move, someone else will. Sometimes you've just gotta put yourself out there."
Isabella's fame and status were well-known, and she had no shortage of potential suitors.
And Michael, to put it bluntly, was currently unemployed. If he didn't take a chance, his wife would be taken right from under his nose.
By then, it would be too late for regrets.
Michael nodded, thinking quietly, as if he had taken Aaron's words to heart.
Finally, he made a decision. "I get it. I'll give it a shot."
Just as he finished speaking, a voice from outside suddenly objected, "Absolutely not!"
Renee, who had been waiting outside, couldn't hold back her anger any longer after hearing Aaron's bad idea. She burst in.
"Aaron, what nonsense are you spouting? Have you forgotten that we owe our lives to Ms. Taylor? Even this hospital room was arranged by her. How could you repay kindness with betrayal?"
Aaron was startled and quickly grabbed Renee's hand to explain.
"Renee, don't be mad. That's not what I meant."
Renee huffed and shook him off, full of anger. "Then what do you mean? Mr. Brown is the son of the Brown Family. Even without the CEO position, he has a huge family backing him. How could he have nowhere to go and need your help to seek refuge with Ms. Taylor? How could you come up with such a scheme?"
Her last words were practically spat out through gritted teeth.
She had clearly misjudged Aaron. She didn't expect him to have such bad intentions, being sincere to her but scheming against others.
Aaron lowered his head in embarrassment, his face turning red.
He hadn't expected Renee to be right outside, listening to their conversation.
And he had an agreement with Isabella, so he couldn't tell Michael or reveal it in front of Renee.
He had to play dumb in front of both of them.
As long as he achieved his goal, that was enough.
"Why don't we call Mrs. Brown and ask her opinion?"
After all, knowing what Michael had done to Isabella, Renee had no good impression of him.
They still wanted to use her name to get close to Isabella? Dream on!
So when Aaron hinted at bringing Isabella here, Renee couldn't help but glare at him.
"Don't even think about it. I won't agree to let Isabella see someone she doesn't want to see!"
That "someone" was, of course, Michael.
Feeling unjustly accused, Michael shook his head and retorted.
"Renee, what happens between Isabella and me is our business. Whether I seek refuge with the Wilson Family or not doesn't really concern you. Why are you so against it?"
Renee, already having no good feelings towards Michael, now saw his true colors and her voice turned cold.
"Isabella saved my life. I won't let anyone she can't stand show up around her, especially not through me."
Renee had never been known for her patience. She only showed her true personality with Aaron and Isabella.
But once her hostility surfaced, the temperature in the room seemed to drop.
