Chapter 485

Time dragged on as Michael sat on a nearby bench, anxiously waiting.

He couldn't stop worrying about his grandfather's condition.

"Mom, how much does Grandpa know about what happened at the company?"

If Grandpa found out that Nolan had been scheming with the Adri Family from the start, trying to split up the Brown Group's shares as revenge for old grudges, it might be too much for him to handle.

Stella, not knowing the details, could only respond honestly, "Your grandpa saw the news this morning, and that's when it happened. I don't know anything else. Son, you don't know, ever since Isabella returned that gemstone pendant to your grandpa, he's been sitting alone with it every day, sometimes even tearing up, saying he failed to keep such a good granddaughter-in-law. I wanted to comfort him, but then the company had this issue, and he couldn't take the blow and fainted."

Thinking about the chaos at home and the company, and her son being kicked out, Stella was at a loss and could only cry.

While Stella spoke, Michael's attention was caught by the mention of the returned gemstone pendant.

So, Isabella had already given back the gift he gave her to Grandpa.

That pendant was a birthday gift from him, the only thing he had given her with genuine feelings, yet she didn't even want to keep it.

Maybe in her heart, she had long wanted to cut ties with him completely.

He had been foolishly dreaming, thinking they still had a future.

It was all just his wishful thinking.

Stella cried for a while before realizing something important. She wiped her tears and asked, "Michael, why are you here alone? Where's Nolan? Doesn't he care at all about your grandpa's condition?"

Michael didn't want to hear anything about Nolan right now.

He frowned, "Mom, let's not worry about him. We need to focus on Grandpa."

Before he could finish, the doors of the operating room suddenly opened.

Stella and Michael quickly approached, ready to ask questions, but the doctor's words stopped them in their tracks.

"Are you the patient's family? The patient's condition is very serious. Given his age and the sudden brain hemorrhage, even if the surgery was successful, there's no guarantee it won't happen again. You should be prepared for the worst."

Stella, relieved to hear the surgery was successful, didn't think much of the warning, assuming it was standard doctor talk.

But Michael's heart sank.

The doctor's words were a clear indication that his grandfather's condition was critical. If he recovered well, he might have a few more years, but if not, his time was limited.

Michael thanked the doctor and followed the nurse to Aiden's room.

On the bed, Aiden lay with his eyes half-closed, pale and weak, struggling to breathe through an oxygen mask.

Stella entered, her eyes red, and called out, "Dad!"

Michael moved closer, holding Aiden's hand, his voice hoarse, "Grandpa."

Hearing his grandson's voice, Aiden slowly opened his eyes. Seeing Michael, he gripped his hand tightly, his whole body trembling slightly.

Though Aiden didn't speak, Michael could see the question in his eyes.

Michael nodded and reassured him, "Grandpa, don't worry. The company will be fine. Nolan will find a way to get through this. He has the ability."

Michael wasn't defending Nolan or trying to comfort his grandfather with false hope. He knew that even if Nolan fell out with the Adri Family, his pride and ambition wouldn't let the Brown Group fail under his watch.

This was what Grandpa was worried about.

Michael's words were meant to ease his grandfather's mind about the company.

Sure enough, after hearing Michael's explanation, Aiden's emotions calmed down.

But Aiden's hand still held onto his, and he struggled to utter a sound, "Isa..."

Even though his voice was faint, Michael understood.

His heart ached.

Grandpa was still worried about him and Isabella.

"Grandpa, you want to see Isabella, right?"

That was his wish too.

Aiden could only blink weakly in agreement.

"Okay, I'll bring her here. Don't worry."

Michael quickly agreed.

But as he left the room, he realized he didn't know where to find Isabella.

She had blocked his number, and the Wilson Family had blacklisted him. He couldn't even get close without their security warning him off.

But now, Grandpa wanted to see Isabella. No matter what, he had to find her.

Even if it meant swallowing his pride and begging.

Determined, Michael headed out the door, only to nearly collide with someone rushing toward him as he rounded the corner.

It was Isabella, her eyes red and puffy from crying.

For a moment, Michael's mind went blank.

He didn't know how she found out about Grandpa's condition, but the fact that she'd come was all that mattered.

"Isabella, how did you..."

Before he could finish, Isabella grabbed his arm, "Michael, how's Aiden? What did the doctor say? Did the surgery go well? Is Aiden okay?"

Isabella was genuinely worried. She couldn't care less about their divorce right now.

As soon as she heard about Aiden being hospitalized, she rushed over, her mind filled with memories of her grandfather's passing.

She was truly scared.

Scared that Aiden would leave her like her grandfather did.

She had already lost her grandfather and didn't want to lose another loved one so soon.

Seeing Isabella's distress, Michael knew she was thinking about her grandfather.

He gently pulled her into a hug, patting her back, "The surgery was successful. My mom is with him. Don't worry, the doctor said he just needs to rest."
