Chapter 149
Jasper passed out and ended up in the hospital after Michael tore into him.
After getting some medical attention, Jasper finally woke up. The doctor had warned him to keep his emotions in check, but Jasper just couldn't hold it in.
"How could he say that? He has no clue how much I've busted my ass for this company. The family's downfall isn't on me; it was the Brown Family and their meddling that screwed us over. This is all Paxton's fault!" Jasper ranted from his hospital bed.
Mia looked at him, worried. "The doctor said you shouldn't get too worked up. Please, calm down."
"Calm down? How can I calm down? That ungrateful daughter and her husband-they're both jerks! They don't appreciate a damn thing I've done and blame everything on me!" Jasper cried out, tears of frustration streaming down his face.
Coincidentally, the hospital where Jasper was staying was the same one where Bianca was.
As soon as Bianca and John heard Jasper was hospitalized because of Isabella, they rushed over to see him.
"Jasper, what the heck happened? How did things get this bad?" Bianca asked right away.
Jasper was too mad to talk, so Mia, through a torrent of tears, explained everything, naturally painting them as the victims.
"We called Isabella to ask her to talk to Mason so you two could be together. But she played us! And her husband Michael insulted my husband, belittling his business achievements and mocking his abilities, saying he's worse than a fool!" Mia cried.
"That's enough! Don't go into such detail. I was starting to calm down, but bringing this up again just makes it worse!" Jasper snapped.
Bianca's lips twitched; she hadn't expected Jasper to be driven to tears by those words.
John's eyes flashed with contempt as he looked at Jasper and Mia.
John was a sharp businessman, and he'd seen how fast the Taylors went downhill-all thanks to Jasper's screw-ups, in his opinion.
A true business leader entrusts authority to competent individuals. Skilled employees are akin to a shepherd's flock, with the leader using their power to steer them and nurture the company's growth.
But Jasper, the fool, couldn't handle giving up control, scared that his underlings would steal the spotlight. So, he yanked back the reins and squashed the talented folks, leading to most of the cream of the crop getting poached by rival outfits.
Even more absurdly, Jasper kicked other Taylors out of the company, claiming that as the heir, he was the only one qualified to manage family affairs, while others were just collateral relatives.
An arrogant, clueless fool-that was John's take on Jasper.
When Jasper was down to just three companies, John had stepped in with investments to create some cooperation opportunities. But Jasper had been dodging taxes! If Isabella hadn't cut ties with John, he might have gotten caught up in Jasper's tax evasion mess.
John knew Jasper had forced Isabella to marry him to secure more deals and use his family's influence to bounce back.
But neither John nor Mason, nor any of the Williamses, had any plans to help Jasper regain his family's power.
Mason had arranged Isabella's marriage to John purely to protect her. Jasper was never part of Mason's plans.
'I've always been confused. Grandpa said he was best friends with Isabella's grandfather, which is why he's willing to help Isabella. But Jasper is Isabella's father, yet Grandpa barely helped him and seemed to favor Isabella. It's so weird. Bianca is Isabella's sister, so why does Grandpa treat Bianca so coldly?' John had always wondered about this but never found an answer, nor did he dare to ask Mason.
Suddenly, John's phone rang. It was Mason calling.
John didn't want to reveal Bianca's presence, so he stepped outside to take the call.
After John left the room, Bianca looked at the furious Jasper and the crying Mia and said, "I have a way to make Isabella apologize."
"What way?" Jasper asked eagerly.
Bianca narrowed her eyes. "Tell the media about how Isabella mistreated you. Let them spread the story, like how Paxton once buried you alive. Mention that when Isabella fled abroad, she left you behind to face the danger. Say that your conflict with her arose because she married a scoundrel, and when you tried to stop her, she betrayed you."
A malicious smile flashed in Bianca's eyes. She planned to use Isabella's parents to ruin Isabella's reputation step by step.
After hearing Bianca's suggestion, Mia hesitated.
"Do we really have to do this? If we go through with it, we might never have any connection with Isabella again," Mia said, looking at Jasper.
"Do you think things are any better now? After I fainted, she didn't even visit me in the hospital. Now go find the media and report how she made me faint! I want everyone to know she's a heartless and cold woman!" Jasper said, slamming his hand on the bed.
"In that case, you should start making arrangements. I'll go find John and see what's going on with him," Bianca said, smiling as she wheeled herself out of the ward.
'Let these foolish parents fight with their daughter. Not my problem,' Bianca thought, a sinister smile spreading across her face.
