Chapter 243

After hearing what the doctor said, Paxton's initial excitement started to fade.

"Sorry, I got carried away. I'll ask her now." Paxton took a deep breath and walked over to Pearl.

"Pearl, is what's happening to you because of Bianca?" As soon as he asked, he saw Pearl's body start to shake uncontrollably, like she was having a seizure.

Pearl couldn't speak, only making guttural sounds. Her intense shaking freaked out both the doctor and the nurse.

"Mr. Brown, you need to leave. I have to treat Ms. Brown." The doctor firmly pushed Paxton out of the room.

Paxton wasn't mad, just worried about Pearl. He stood outside, watching through the glass as the doctors worked. The sight of Pearl's suffering tore at his heart.

"Bianca! It's really you!" Paxton clenched his fists so hard his nails dug into his skin. Pearl's reaction convinced him that his suspicions were right.

Jonah had been waiting outside for Paxton. When he heard that Pearl's injuries were linked to Bianca, his face darkened too.

"Mr. Brown, should we go after Bianca?" Jonah asked.

Paxton took a deep breath and shook his head. "Remember, Bianca survived an assassination attempt. She'll be more cautious now, and with John's protection, she's not an easy target."

"Damn it, are we just going to let her get away with this?" Jonah was furious. He had watched Pearl grow up and considered her family.

Jonah seemed to have an idea. "Isn't Bianca fighting Isabella for the family fortune? Should we help Isabella?"

"What does their fight have to do with us? And do you really think Isabella would accept our help?" Paxton glared at Jonah, thinking it was a dumb suggestion.

Paxton took one last look at the ICU before turning to leave. Jonah followed, eager to hear what he was thinking.

"There's more to the Taylor women than meets the eye. They must know something we don't, which is why they're fighting over those struggling companies. If we get involved now, Isabella won't be grateful; she'll just be suspicious." Paxton shook his head, sharing his thoughts.

Suddenly, Paxton stopped, deep in thought. "Is Jasper still wanted by the authorities?"

Paxton turned to Jonah for confirmation.

Jonah nodded. "Yeah, Jasper's still on the run."

Paxton kept thinking, his head down.

"If I were Jasper, I'd want to get out of the country. He can't do it legally. His accounts are probably still frozen since he just got out of detention. He has no money, no connections, so the only way for him to leave is to get help from someone else. Who do you think Jasper would turn to?" Paxton's question was as much for Jonah as it was for himself.

Jonah thought for a moment before replying, "If I were Jasper, I'd probably go to John. He's helping Bianca get shares. As for Isabella, Jasper might not want to lose face, and besides, she probably doesn't have a way to get him out of the country illegally."

Paxton nodded. "Alright, keep an eye on John. If Jasper shows up, grab him immediately. I wonder what assets Jasper's father may have left."

Meanwhile, John headed to the hospital to see Mason, and Bianca locked herself in her room to make a call.

"What kind of idiot did you send me this time? He actually tried to rape me! Can't you find someone competent for once?" Bianca angrily scolded the person on the other end of the line.

The person on the phone knew they had messed up and sounded less confident than usual.

"Yeah, that was my bad. I didn't expect Daron to pull something like that. But you have to understand, most of my reliable guys are tied up, and all I have left are these desperate ones." The voice on the phone sounded a bit helpless.

"Damn it, if we could just kill Isabella, we wouldn't have all these problems!" Bianca scratched her head in frustration, messing up her silky hair.

The person on the phone quickly shut down that idea.

"No way! I'm being watched constantly. If Isabella dies, Mason will definitely investigate, and everyone will start suspecting me!" The voice was serious, genuinely worried Bianca might actually go through with it.

Bianca sneered, "That knife had already sliced into that bitch's flesh when she was under my control in the hospital. She only survived because someone else stepped in."

The voice on the phone shot back with a hint of scorn, "So what? She didn't die, and she kicked you out of the hospital, making you look like a fool in front of everyone. You could've won John over slowly, but you chose to fake kidney disease. Now you have to keep up that lie, bribing medical staff to forge records. Isn't that a pain?"

Bianca was starting to regret it. There was no need to claim kidney disease, but now she was stuck with it.

"Enough, I didn't call to be mocked. What do we do next?" Bianca demanded angrily.

There was silence on the other end for a moment before the voice resumed, "Jasper will probably contact you guys. If he wants to leave the country, he'll need John's help. Just wait patiently. But remember, whatever I can think of, Isabella and Mason can think of too. When Jasper shows up, it'll be a showdown between all of you."
