Chapter 162

After getting back to her office, Isabella could totally feel the cold vibes from her coworkers. The crowd outside was all because of her, messing up everyone's day.

Isabella felt stuck. She wasn't some big shot with power, just a regular woman. Anyone with half a brain could see Jasper had set this up to mess with her.

These days, you could hire a bunch of people for cheap to hold signs and make a scene, like those fake fans at airports screaming for random celebrities. It was all about creating buzz and getting noticed.

Honestly, those people probably didn't even know what those celebs were famous for. It was all just a big act, and the best actors got to win.

Speaking of acting, there was another woman hustling for her future in showbiz. Michael had found himself a fake wife, Estella, promising her a bright future if she helped him fool his family.

Estella jumped at the chance. This was nothing compared to sucking up to directors or investors. She even thought if Michael wanted to sleep with her, she'd be down.

On the film set in Aurora Continent, Estella had just wrapped up a scene and was chilling when her assistant rushed over, saying someone wanted to see her.

"If it's a reporter, tell them I've got two hours free tomorrow for an interview. If it's a fan, just give them a signed photo and say I'm busy," Estella said, not even looking up.

She used to be cautious, but now she's brimming with confidence, all thanks to Michael.

Michael had kept his word, hooking her up with a killer PR team that got her name out there. Lately, she'd been all over the news, often mentioned as the wife of some mysterious guy. Reporters were all over her, trying to dig up dirt on him, but she kept them at arm's length, only talking about her movies and dodging any marriage questions.

But her assistant shook her head. "It's a woman named Zoey Foster. She says her husband is Paxton."

Estella was caught off guard. She didn't know Zoey, but she knew Paxton's name.

After making the deal with Michael, Estella had picked up some info about him.

Paxton's daughter, Pearl, had chased after Michael but got turned down, which was a big joke. Zoey showing up here had to be Paxton's idea. Since Pearl had made a fool of herself, it seemed weird they'd try to reach out to Michael again. So, what was Zoey doing here?

"Did she say why she wanted to see me?" Estella asked her assistant in a low voice.

The assistant, not quite getting why Estella was being so cautious, whispered back, "She didn't give a specific reason, just said she wanted to make friends and get to know a future star. She also gave me her card and said you could call her if you wanted."

The assistant handed Estella a fancy platinum card.

Estella raised an eyebrow. Just like a high-ranking family's wife, her business card was flashy as expected.

"Got it. You can go now, and don't mention this to anyone!" Estella warned her assistant firmly.

The assistant nodded and left.

As soon as the assistant was gone, Estella called Jerry to fill him in on the situation.

Jerry acknowledged and hung up. After the call, Estella had a bitter smile on her face.

"Everyone says I'm Michael's wife, but I don't even have his phone number!" Estella muttered to herself, then asked the makeup team to touch up her makeup for the next scene.

Meanwhile, Jerry reported the news to Michael.

"Mr. Williams, what is Paxton up to?" Jerry was just as puzzled as Estella.

Michael had embarrassed Paxton and Pearl before, so it didn't make sense for Paxton to keep trying to get involved with him.

Michael smirked. "Paxton wanted his daughter to marry me for the benefits. Capitalists would sell their own souls for enough profit - Paxton's using Estella to get close to me, hoping to score big for his family, maybe even crack some overseas markets."

Michael easily figured out Paxton's game. As the head of a family, Paxton wouldn't waste his time on petty revenge for his daughter.

As a man, Paxton wouldn't approach Michael's wife directly. Sending his own wife was the best way to avoid public scrutiny.

Michael tapped his fingers lightly on the table, new ideas forming in his mind.

Looking at Jerry, Michael said, "Tell Estella to get friendly with Paxton's wife and find out what she wants. She could be useful against the Browns."

Jerry nodded and was about to make the call when Michael stopped him.

"Also, give her my number and warn her not to call unless it's absolutely necessary," Michael added coldly. He didn't want to get a call from Estella while he was with Isabella, which would only lead to more misunderstandings.

Jerry agreed and went to make the arrangements.

Estella followed Jerry's instructions without hesitation. She was thrilled to have Michael's number, though only for emergencies, it was still a major boost.
