Chapter 443

Isabella watched in horror as Michael hit the ground, her mind going completely blank.

"Michael, wake up!" she screamed, panic setting in as she saw the blood spreading across his chest.

She pressed her hand against the wound, but it was quickly soaked with blood.

Michael managed a weak smile at her before passing out.

"Get Mr. and Mrs. Williams to the hospital! The rest of you, follow me! We're catching that damn sniper!" Mike shouted.

Mike led his team towards where the sniper had been. Meanwhile, Isabella and the others carried Michael outside. Mike's men formed a protective barrier around them, blocking the sniper's view.

The sniper, hidden on the rooftop, realized he had lost his chance. He quickly disassembled his rifle and made his escape.

'Damn it, what a bunch of useless idiots. Mission failed, but at least I don't have to give the money back. Paxton's probably done for too,' the sniper thought, cursing Paxton's men. He was a pro, not like them.

Mike and his team reached the rooftop, but the sniper was long gone. All they found were traces of his presence.

Mike ordered the search to continue, then stood on the rooftop, firing his gun into the sky in frustration.

Just then, his phone rang. He saw it was Jerry calling.

Mike knew why Jerry was calling. He hesitated, then answered.

Jerry's furious voice exploded through the phone.

"You idiot! How did Mr. Williams get so badly hurt? Weren't you supposed to protect him? What the hell happened? You damn fool! I want to shoot you myself," Jerry raged.

Mike's face darkened, but he had no words.

Jerry eventually calmed down and said, "I've got Benjamin waiting at the hospital. With him there, Mr. Williams has a good chance."

"I'll find that sniper. What's the situation with Paxton?" Mike asked carefully.

Jerry replied coldly, "Have Joe contact Carol. Tell her Paxton and Zoey are as good as dead. Whatever she's planning, she needs to act now."

Jerry hung up.

Mike immediately called Joe and filled him in. Joe then called Carol.

Carol was pacing in her office, anxious because she couldn't reach Isabella. Michael had warned her that Isabella was in danger, and she felt a growing sense of urgency.

Just then, her phone rang. She picked it up eagerly, but her face fell when she saw it was Joe."Why are you calling me? Does your boss have instructions? Why doesn't he call me himself?" Carol asked, frowning.

Joe's voice was low. "My boss got shot protecting his wife."

Carol was stunned. "How is Ms. Taylor?"

"She's fine; they're at the hospital. But this isn't about that. Paxton and Zoey are as good as dead! We're going after them directly, so be ready once Paxton is gone," Joe said before hanging up.

Carol was still in shock, unsure how to process everything.

She quickly made another call.

The man on the other end went silent after hearing her out.

"I got it. As soon as I hear about Paxton's death, I'll act immediately," he said before hanging up.

Carol stared at her phone, then slumped against her desk, feeling overwhelmed.

Meanwhile, Paxton was still holding a memorial service for his daughter Pearl. The other family members, even at gunpoint, didn't dare speak. They were starting to feel hungry and dizzy because the service had dragged on for too long.

Paxton clutched his phone, his brow furrowed, waiting for a call from his men, but nothing came.

Suddenly, his phone rang. His eyes lit up as he answered; it was the sniper.

"Sorry, Mr. Brown, all your men are dead," the sniper's first words were devastating.

Paxton didn't care about his men. "What about the people who hurt my daughter? Are they dead or not?"

"The woman is definitely not dead, but I shot the man in the chest. I don't know if he'll survive," the sniper replied, leaving Paxton frustrated.

"I paid you a lot of money, and you give me an uncertain answer?" Paxton snapped.

The sniper stayed calm. "I'm sorry, Mr. Brown, but as a businessman, you should know sometimes you lose. I'll check if the man is dead. If he's alive, I'll refund part of the payment, provided you live that long."

"What do you mean by that?" Paxton demanded.

The sniper explained patiently, "The people you've crossed are very dangerous. Be ready for their brutal retaliation. It's not too late to run."

The sniper hung up. When Paxton tried calling back, the phone was off.

"Damn bastard!" Paxton yelled, throwing his phone.

The next second, a gunshot rang out, hitting Paxton in the chest.
